  1. I trust Campbell so completely that I don't think the difference between will and should are that distinct for me. Obviously I understand the perceived benefit to resting key starters, and he's not above reproach, but I just am not one to question a head coach who is 35-10 in his last 45 and took the Detroit Lions to the NFC Championship Game last year. His methods are clearly working, I kind of think they should do whatever he says they should do.
  2. I'm not one to judge locker room celebrations, but out of context I would have expected this was a clinching celebration for them.
  3. It's just not the Dan Campbell way. If the Vikings had lost today and the Lions won tomorrow, Campbell would have played all the starters against Minnesota too. You don't take the foot off the gas, ever.
  4. I assure you they will not. Every starter will play the entire game.
  5. A ****ty performance by the opponent and the Vikings win by 2. A Minnesota classic.
  6. They cost themselves probably a minute of clock by not stepping out of bounds on the pass to the 3 and then running up the middle for no gain on 1st and gaol.
  7. 27-25 with 2:18 left and Green Bay has all three timeouts.
  8. The Packers are coming back despite themselves.
  9. I don’t get how this is the same team that played the Lions on Thursday Night.
  10. Dreadful coverage leads to an easy 7.
  11. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen the play where a QB pitches the ball backwards five yards to their stationary running back actually work.
  12. Campbell would have gone for it on 4th and short there. Would either be a 7-0 or 0-0 game right now.
  13. Great field position now for the Packers.
  14. Figures we would get this version of Green Bay when we need them to be a competent football team.
  15. Minnesota’s turnover differential is the way they win games. They minimize their own mistakes, capitalize on their opponent’s, and carry that to small margin victories. Which means the worst thing you can do is shoot yourself in the foot.
  16. The Colts Bear’d him. Youngest QB in the league in two consecutive seasons, and they threw him to the wolves with no time for development at all.
  17. Everyone got their Zofran ready as we root for a Packers victory?
  18. Same here. I don’t think he’s the generational superstar or generational prick either Favre or Rodgers were, which makes it a little easier to swallow.
  19. I had this thought about the Packers/Vikings game. Definitely benefits those in charge if the Vikings win. I’m not sure the Lions/Niners game will be close enough to have one or two calls matter.
  20. I knew Eberflus wasn’t a good head coach last year when he prematurely let off the gas in the first game against the Lions and let them come back to win that. He tried milking the clock with runs up the middle with like five minutes left when letting Fields run around us had worked all game. I’m usually one to give coaches more leash, especially on historically inept franchises where the position is a revolving door in a clown convention. For instance, with Patricia, I was okay having him return for the 2020 season based on the injuries suffered and the number of close losses in 2019... IMO, if you’re pulling the trap door lever on the head coach every two years without fail you’re going to end up accidentally firing a guy like Dan Campbell when he starts his tenure 4-19-1. But I got the same impression of Eberflus after that game against the Lions that I did with Jim Schwartz when he lost 6/7 to close out the 2013 season, that I did with Jim Caldwell when he blew the game against the 5-9 Bengals in 2017, and that I did with Matt Patricia when he got shut out by the Panthers in 2020. “You don’t have to go home; but you can’t stay here.”
  21. Not one bit. I’m Nelson Muntz in the corner.
  22. I think there is a recognition that if this team is going to win a championship, there will likely be at least one must-win game where we need to plain outshoot our opponent. 42 or more points. Obviously we can do that, but we can’t afford to water down our offense for a rookie. I do think it’s something of an indictment on Hooker, but it’s not a career defining one. They don’t trust him right now to lead us to a championship. But how many NFL QBs with zero career starts would you trust? Hooker will still be our backup next year.
  23. Michigan finally read the operator’s manual for their money cannon and now they can’t stop firing it.
  24. Losing close games is just what mediocre teams do. The Lions were great at losing close games for decades. In fairness to the Bears, a large part of their problem is the North, at least here and now. If they were in most any other division, Eberflus isn’t fired when he is and they probably go around .500 this year, probably battle for a playoff spot, at least for a while. They were 4-5 until they had to start playing in the division. Now they’re 4-11. It’s just really hard to gain any traction as a mediocre team when you’re playing six games against top 5-8 teams in the league. It’s hard to see them doing any better than 7-10 or so next season without two of the Lions, Packers, and Vikings taking a significant step back. I do agree that finding the right coach can make a world of difference though. Dan Campbell, KOC, Sean Payton, and Jim Harbaugh all prove that. Lucky for us, Virginia McCaskey owns the team, so they’ll probably hire Kliff Bar Kingsbury.
  25. “We are going to take the North and never give it back” -Ryan Poles on January 31, 2022 Since, the Bears are 2-15 in the North.
