  1. They're on bye next week 😉 If the rest of the B1G wasn't an absolute dumpster fire though, I'd probably agree with you. MSU at home, Rutgers away, Nebraska at home, and Illinois at home. Even with a let down performance against one of them there is no reason they shouldn't go 4-0.
  2. Nicky is having a good time.
  3. The in-stadium DJ played a remix of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” in the 3rd quarter. All I could think of was if Rich Rod could see us now.
  4. Am 11-1 Michigan that loses to the Nuts may have a strong case to make for the #4 seed.
  5. Along with the 3OT game against MSU in 2004, one of my earliest (and fondest) Michigan memories.
  6. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think he deserves six figures either. I think what he deserves and what he’ll receive from a wealthy athlete who will want this to go away are two different topics altogether though in the civil system.
  7. I don’t understand America’s infatuation with the death penalty. Cruz committed monstrous acts, no doubt about it. And we can play this literal game of life-and-death about it, comparing apples to murder, in attempt to understand “how MUCH mental illness/childhood neglect/deprivation is enough to mitigate a mass shooting”… but to what end? Was this 30+ day trial really worth it? Even if they had declared him a monster by dispositional characteristics, and said he didn’t deserve the oxygen we breath… is it worth it to drag the victim’s families through this process? To still have to spend tens of millions of dollars to then defend the decision on appeal for the next 10-20 years? As opposed to a couple hundred thousand housing him for the next 50 years. Add onto that that the exact same act a couple hundred miles north in Virginia (or 25 other states in the US) it wouldn’t even be considered. I just don’t understand the logical appeal. It seems entirely based on emotion, which is both barbaric and stupid. Won’t change anytime soon with the current Supreme Court either.
  8. And reputational damage / inability to work now that his name is out there. It'll get settled long before it goes to any trial, but he'll get a good chunk of change first.
  9. Glad to see the authorities took this seriously. Completely inexcusable what he did, and his fake apology (justifying it by saying he was "frustrated" and then falsely claiming the photographer stepped right in front of him) did not cut it for me. The slap on the wrist he will get here won't compare to the six-figure settlement that the photographer will probably receive in a civil suit though. The new American Dream.
  10. Now for my hottest take of the week that I’ve been hanging onto. Campbell was more involved in the offensive game plan in weeks 1-4, and by his own volition stepped away from that a little to assist the defense in week five.….. The offense was borderline unstoppable at times through week four, but when he stepped away completely lost all touch.….. The defense has been bad pretty much every week (with one half of an exception). It looked more tolerable at least in week five after Campbell stepped in. Shouldn’t these factors taken together actually give some credit to Campbell? I’m being somewhat tongue in cheek here, because of course a shutout loss should fall in some way at the feet of the head coach. But I’ve still seen positives in Campbell as a head coach this season, even despite the disappointing record.
  11. I’ll keep banging the table on this. With the roster as it stood when Campbell took over, it is not fair to judge him by any single game performance until at least next year. We can use these individual games to create trends in the future. For instance, the team likely cannot continue to lay a giant turd in multiple games and have continued success. If we get embarrassed next year in multiple games, it’s probably fair to say “look, why is there a pattern of your team coming out and laying an egg? 2021 against Cincinnati and Philadelphia, 2022 against New England…” I’m not judging him for individual performances right now though. The body of work with the talent he has is satisfactory to not even yet consider his job security.
  12. How much rope does Josh McDaniels have in Vegas? Had a 17-0 lead, blew it. Down 1 after a TD and went for two instead of tying it. Didn't get it. Has surrendered four TDs tonight to Kelce on what has really looked like the same play for at least three of them. Looking likely to be 1-4 after this game.
  13. As awful as the last two weeks have been, I don't think the season is over. If the team didn't quit on Campbell after starting 0-11-1 last year, which included a couple embarrassing performances, they won't quit at 1-4 this year. I'm not going to claim we are playoff bound or anything, but I still don't think hitting between 6-11 and 8-9 (i.e., going about 0.500 to finish) is crazy. Our offense can click on all cylinders, even when short handed. We saw that through four weeks. Our defense can play well enough to win. I would argue we saw that in every game except the Seahawks - maybe the Eagles game too. Getting Swift, ASB, and Jackson back will allow yesterday to be an outlier for the offense. The insurgence of Jaymo could be a true wildcard that makes the 30-40+ point performances the norm. There is no magic help coming for the defense, so they will likely continue to have some weeks where they are just plain embarrassed. If they can surrender between 20-30 points more often than not though, we will still be in position to win games. If both our good offense and our middling defense (as opposed to our NFL history making poor defense) show up at the same time, I still think every game except Thanksgiving could be a win.
  14. Sure, if he competes he'll be able to make a spot on this team just like anybody else. I just don't think there will be anymore patience after this year to wait for him to catch up to where he needs to be in the NFL. Your back still hurts? Sorry, it can hurt somewhere else or it's time to retire. That's the nature of this league. We can only hold a roster spot in abeyance for so long before that hold is a liability in and of itself.
  15. I would tend to agree at this point. If he does not play this year I would anticipate he is drafted over and subsequently waived before week one of 2023.
  16. Paschal has started the process and would be available in week eight I believe. Campbell made a comment on Levi last week that “that needle isn’t moving”… I wouldn’t count on Levi this year.
  17. vs. Judging by the prior game thread.... Elsewhere in the NFL Primetime: Commanders @ Bears (TNF), Cowboys @ Eagles (SNF), Broncos @ Chargers (MNF) 1:00pm: 49ers @ Falcons, Patriots @ Browns, Jets @ Packers, Jaguars @ Colts, Vikings @ Dolphins, Bengals @ Saints, Ravens @ Giants, Buccaneers @ Steelers 4:05/4:25pm: Panthers @ Rams, Cardinals @ Seahawks, Bills @ Chiefs Eagles BYE: Texans, Raiders, Titans
  18. I literally do not know the name of the kicker on the active roster. Do you? They had the #1 offense in the league coming in. I think their odds of making nine yards on one play are equal or better to kicker-of-the-week making a 50+ yard attempt outdoors on a visiting field.
  19. If he elects for the field goal and whatever kicker we picked up missed, the same people mad at Campbell for going for it would be mad at Campbell for kicking it. Same if he punted it. Thats on Sewell and Goff
  20. Crossed my mind as well given how often we have seen it.
  21. Confirmation that it’s a head/neck issue. With the way he went down I thought it may have been a cardiac or neurological issue.
