  1. In the Golden Tate play, this rule still would have caused them to lose the game, as the reviewed play was 3rd and Goal. Spiking the ball would not have been an option if the play had been ruled correctly originally, as it would have resulted in a 4th and Goal from an inch or so out. That said, I don't think the rule as it reads now is perfect. I understand why it exists, but in a situation like the Golden Tate one, the Lions should have had one more opportunity to run a play. If I were to propose a change to fix it, it would be related to how long the play was. For instance, if the play which goes from a running clock to a stopped clock is longer than X yards (probably 10-20 yards), it results in a ten-second run-off. If the play is less than X yards, it results in a five-second run-off. Just make the run-off a little more realistic with respect to how long it actually takes the offense to get to the line and get set.
  2. Brady with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty! LOVE it! Give him another!!
  3. From what he yelled in the official's mic, it sounded like Suh was accusing Stafford of kicking him. Which I both didn't see and find pretty entertaining.
  4. Suh gonna Suh. Makes a great play then points his finger in Stafford's face to pick up a 15-yard penalty and give the Rams a first down. Can't believe I defended that guy for as long as I did.
  5. Yesterday's news, but I missed it while dancing on the Packers grave.
  6. It's made all so much better by how awful SF was. Jimmy G went 11/19 with 131 yards and a pick. Four sacks. Six offensive points. 26 of those yards came in the final possession. Multiple other lollipops that should have been picked. And poor unvaxxed Aaron couldn't muster more than 10 points. Hahahahahhahahahahaha fuck you dude.
  7. And a blocked punt returned for a TD ties it at 10!!! Hahahahahaha FU Rodgers.
  8. San Francisco looks so bad. Garoppolo should have been picked about four times already, the offensive line can’t block anyone, and the play calling is completely predictable. I am sure the weather is playing a large role for the California team, but this should be far more than a seven point game.
  9. In fairness two of those picks were tipped. Only the first one was really dreadfully bad where he just stared down a receiver. The second one took a really phenomenal play, but it was still a killer given where they were. They're also tied to Tannehill at the hip. He has a dead cap hit of over $38MM next year. Ain't nobody picking that up. I will say I think the team will remember this game if they have a similar finish to next season.
  10. With the way Cincinnati and Tennessee are playing, KC/Buffalo is shaping up to be the de facto AFC Championship.
  11. I still like my picks for this weekend. Wouldn’t change any of them. Hope we get some better football than last weekend. Buffalo/KC should deliver at least.
  12. I wonder if Jerry Jones plans to offer Kellen Moore the head job if he gets an offer elsewhere.
  13. Not to rain on anyone’s humility, but Stafford hasn’t (yet) done what he was brought to LA to do. The Rams went 10-6 last year and won a wildcard game. They said “not good enough” and shipped their QB and future across the country to pickup Stafford, because they thought that he could lead them to more than going 10-6 and winning a playoff game. He has gone 12-5 and won a playoff game. But I don’t think the Rams faithful (all 14 of them) will be satisfied with another divisional round exit. Whether that meets the expectations of Stafford as a QB is to the eyes of the beholder though.
  14. It all seemed to start with the rift between Rick Smith and Bill O'Brien. They had built a good thing in Houston, but when Bill O'Brien told ownership that it was him or Smith, and they chose Bill, it's been all downhill from there. That was also around the time that Bob McNair was still running the team as owner but was in ailing health. Now it seems the McNairs want to own the team to say they own an NFL team, but have no interest in actually running an NFL team. Janice McNair attends all NFL owners meetings but has nothing to do with operations of the team. Cal McNair is the President and CEO, but seemingly by title only, as Jack Easterby and Nick Caserio (of all people) have about as much power as any executives in the NFL, without having proven jack. It's really bizarre. I would much rather have Sheila than that cluster.
  15. I agree that think it might have to do with Jacksonville and Chicago having Lawrence and Fields, while Las Vegas and Minnesota have Carr and Cousins. Looking at who the Raiders and Vikings have interviewed though, it could also be he felt they were trying to just use him to satisfy the Rooney Rule. I think he'd do well in Jacksonville. I think he'd do poorly in Chicago.
  16. He definitely should get a job. The Bears really should be an ideal match, but as you said, they’re pretty dumb. It feels like every year a top candidate ends up without a job, and I guess that’s where I see Daboll being after this cycle. I had him landing with the Vikings for a little when I was making this, but when l saw that they hadn’t even requested to interview him yet, I backed off that idea.
  17. And the QB Carousel for Week One 2022: AFC East Patriots: Mac Jones Jets: Zach Wilson Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa Bills: Josh Allen AFC North Ravens: Lamar Jackson Steelers: Russell Wilson Bengals: Joe Burrow Browns: Baker Mayfield AFC South Colts: Matt Corral / Teddy Bridgewater Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence Titans: Ryan Tannehill Texans: Kenny Pickett / Davis Mills AFC West Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes Raiders: Aaron Rodgers Chargers: Justin Herbert Broncos: Jimmy Garoppolo NFC East Cowboys: Dak Prescott Football Team: Derek Carr Eagles: Jalen Hurts / Cam Newton Giants: Sam Howell NFC North Lions: Jared Goff Vikings: Kirk Cousins / Brock Purdy Bears: Justin Fields Packers: Jordan Love NFC South Bucs: Tom Brady Falcons: Matt Ryan / Malik Willis Panthers: Daniel Jones / Desmond Ridder Saints: Deshaun Watson NFC West Rams: Matt Stafford Seahawks: Carson Wentz / Carson Strong 49ers: Trey Lance / Drew Lock Cardinals: Kyler Murray
  18. Now that I think all coaches and GMs have been fired who will be, I'll lay my stake to what will probably only be one or two correct if I am lucky: Jaguars HC: Byron Leftwich (Bucs OC) Texans HC: Jerod Mayo (Patriots LB Coach) Vikings HC: Kevin O'Connell (Rams OC) Vikings GM: Monti Ossenfort (Titans Director of Player Personnel) Raiders HC: Nathanial Hackett (Packers OC) - followed soon thereafter by Aaron Rodgers Raiders GM: Ed Dodds (Colts Assistant GM) - along with something funky like an ownership stake Dolphins HC: Eric Bienemy (Chiefs OC) Bears HC: Matt Eberflus (Colts DC) Bears GM: Morocco Brown (Colts Director of College Scouting) Giants HC: Doug Pederson (Former Eagles HC) Giants GM: Ryan Poles (Chiefs Executive Director of Player Personnel) Broncos HC: Brian Flores (Former Dolphins HC)
  19. I'm saying that if a QB takes a Burrow-like rise, the Lions may be interested as well, so a team would need to jump us as well. The only team in the top three that has absolutely zero interest in a long-term answer at QB is the Jags. Of course, with the presumption that we are answering and entertaining their call, then it's a moot point.
  20. I think it's a little simplistic to say that because the Rams went to the Super Bowl, it makes every move they made in the lead-up to the 2018-19 season a good one. If the Rams hadn't made the trade, selected Derrick Henry themselves, and rode out 2016 with Case Keenum or whoever, they still would have likely gone around 4-12 in 2016. Then, without Goff, if they were looking for a QB at #5 in 2017 (where the Titans picked Corey Davis), they could have selected between Mahomes and Watson. Couldn't they have gone to the Super Bowl in 2018-19 anyway with one of them? And maybe won it too? Hindsight is 20/20, and I agree that it's easy to get in the weeds with something like this, but all told in a vacuum, I think I would rather be the team that picked up a two-time All Pro OT, arguably the best RB in the NFL right now, and a serviceable NT, WR, and TE, over the team that picked up Jared Goff and two players who aren't in the NFL right now... I will say that it's interesting to me that of all the players involved in that trade, the only one still on the team that drafted him is Derrick Henry.
  21. You don't have to look far. In April 2016, the Rams traded the 2016 1.15, 2.43, 2.45, 3.76, and a 2017 1st and 3rd round pick, in exchange for 1.1 (Jared Goff), 4.113, and 6.177. More trades were done following this to shuffle those picks, but Tennessee ended up with Jack Conklin, Austin Johnson, Derrick Henry, Corey Davis, and Jonnu Smith. Rams ended up with Goff, Pharoh Cooper, and Temarrick Hemingway. I think it goes without saying who won that trade.
  22. I think Pickett is comparable to Mac Jones. He’s pro ready in the right circumstances, but he’s not at all likely to be the next generational QB. That may actually be most appealing to teams like the Eagles, Colts, Broncos, or Steelers.
  23. This is the only way I could see it happening, for any team. If Kenny Pickett takes a huge leap in the coming months, and they want to jump the Texans to get him. Of course, if Pickett does take that leap, Jacksonville may be a more likely trade partner for them, given that they may feel they need to jump Detroit too.
