  1. The Jaguars are playing for a man who will not be their coach next year, and is 50/50 to even make it 17 games.
  2. The ideal scenario would certainly be to plug a QB in such that he is prepared to lead the team to a championship right as the team's talent is at the point where it can contend in championships. That's not always realistic. It is more important you get the right QB than it is you get them at the right time. Josh Allen for instance held the Bills back for a year or two until he really took off last year. I'm sure that in hindsight though they wouldn't change their pick in exchange for having taken Trubisky or Kizer in 2017 (the first year of McDermott), or Goff, Wentz, or Lynch in 2016 (the year before McDermott).
  3. I'm not annoyed this cost him his job, but I am annoyed that the Raiders are going to get to act like some holier-than-thou organization because of it. If he was actually winning in Vegas, they would have stood behind him and released some joint statement of apology. They wanted him out after he tied himself to Derek Carr and couldn't make the playoffs, or even break .500, after three years. More of the same this year too in a division with three contenders. Mark Davis saw an 'out' to that monstrosity of a contract he stupidly agreed to and capitalized on it. I'm sure there was some back-door dealing going on too and that Gruden is taking home a healthy paycheck in exchange for not dragging this out and making them try to fire him for-cause. One of the most overrated coaches in NFL history.
  4. Campbell tearing up in the postgame press conference, talking about how hard it is to see those guys give it their all and have it come up short like that. It's no wonder these guys never stop fighting. Can't help but root for that man.
  5. About the same amount of time I would expect an expansion team to take to become one.
  6. I liked the call to go for two with this team. I won't like it if he does the same thing with a playoff caliber team in 2 or 3 years.
  7. People ragging on Aaron Glenn's defense are just being emotional. With the talent he has I am impressed teams aren't scoring 40-50 on us weekly.
  8. First first-half points since MNF.
  9. Put the 1980s throwback uniforms into regular rotation. Similar to the modern day Astros uniforms.
  10. Thanks for the heads up. I may call the testing agency. The stories I am seeing are all for at-home tests, I took mine at an urgent care. Still might be worth it before getting too deep into ten days of nuthin'.
  11. I received a positive result on a PCR test yesterday, despite having gotten a negative rapid test the day prior and having been fully vaccinated as of early May. I have two foster children in the home right now. One of them I went and picked up from school last week because he was ill and the other got ill shortly after him. I was the third to get it and my symptoms have been milder than either of them, which makes sense since I was vaccinated and neither of them were. Just a runny nose and sore throat. They're both dealing with fatigue and a bit of a nasty cough. I think the first one got it from school (there isn't a mask to be seen for miles in Macomb area schools right now and I am getting daily exposure notification emails) and then gave it to us. I'm pretty sure one of them gave it to my (vaccinated) parents too, because they're complaining of similar symptoms now too. Both my parents are getting a test today.
  12. I think they both have potential, but I think they will both go higher than they should because QBs always do. If we could grab Willis with our second 1st round pick, I would do so. I think he's likely to go in the top 10-15 though because that's what happens every year to QBs who should go in the back end of the 1st round.
  13. I don't see a single QB I would take in the first round and we likely won't be prepared to contend until at least 2023 anyway. I would love to get a truly elite pass rusher and the first quality linebacker the team has seen in ages.
  14. I don't think Decker makes it through his full contract here. I doubt he will ever re-sign with us as a RT and Sewell is obviously the LT of the future. When the time is right (when the price is highest) a trade will be in order. I think that will be one of the next two offseasons though, not right now.
  15. I see three or four models to drafting a franchise QB. - The Jets/Jags/Lions Method: Draft the QB as you build the team - The Bills Method: Build the team, draft and start the QB - The Chiefs Method: Build the team, draft the QB, let him sit, then plug and play. A 4th method (the 49ers Method I guess) can be tied into the Chiefs too - build the team, draft the QB, utilize him in specialized packages the first year, then plug and play. This only works with some QBs though (like Lance). I think the right QB can succeed in any of these methods (e.g., I think Mahomes would still be good had he been drafted by a rebuilding team that made him start from day one), but I think you position both the QB and the team for the most amount of future success with the Chiefs method, if you can afford it. On the other hand, I think the wrong QB can fail in any of these methods (e.g., I am not at all sold on Jordan Love). I wouldn't be surprised and (probably) would not be that upset if Goff is here into 2024 or so. If he can be a middle-of-the-road QB and not lose us games, I'd prefer that over forcing the issue early and picking up the bust that costs Holmes and Campbell their jobs. I don't see anyone inspiring in 2022 anyway. It does look (early) that 2023 will be better.
  16. Intrigued to see how the new-look Lions react to a gut punch.
  17. This already exists. High school officials (without an on-field play clock) wear one of these: It clips on your belt. Click the filled-in circle for 40 seconds or the empty circle for 25. It vibrates at 10 seconds and then a steady vibration for the last 5 seconds. When it stops vibrating, time is expired. It would not be hard to connect one of these to the on-field play clock for the same effect.
  18. Ford Field largely boo’d Sheila. I don’t think she deserves that.
  19. I can't imagine we could get anything more than a 6th round pick, but the way this team is just so devoid of talent, I get it. Anything worth value now that is not going to be worth as much value 2-3 years down the road should be for sale.
  20. Not to mention that he was held in check fairly well until our rookie corner who was forced into starting by injury was forced out with injury. So yes, well done Aaron on picking apart the 3rd string and beyond of possibly the worst secondary in the league.
