  1. I do wonder if they'll show scores periodically, say on the ribbon boards or the main scoreboard, during breaks in the action or between innings. But that's also the domain of advertising, so probably not. They certainly would still have the scoreboard if not for the wall changes. No reason to remove it otherwise, but also no reason to spend money to design a new one.
  2. In all honesty, with everyone having cell phones now, people can look up scores if they really want to know. And I would question the value of needing to know the scores while at the game anyway, except in specific circumstances like tight division races in September. Even without a phone, you can look that stuff up at home later.
  3. Sale working on that no-hitter loss.
  4. I see a new TV camera in the void space. New angles incoming, I guess.
  5. Waiting for Goudeau to give up a run?
  6. They ain't got the budget for that anymore.
  7. In other news, Justin Verlander didn't even make it past opening day before going on the IL.
  8. Seems about right. Make a pitching change, then immediately need to send the pitching coach out after one batter and 4 pitches.
  9. https://www.sportskeeda.com/baseball/what-mlb-s-new-replay-rule-everything-need-know-nightmare-regulation-managers Dan was suggesting that the new clock rule for deciding on asking for a replay may have played into it. Apparently the rule is that the manager has to immediately put up a hand to signal that they want to look at it, then they have all of 15 seconds to make a decision.
  10. 72 pitches for 18 batters and 15 outs for Eduardo Rodriguez.
  11. The home plate umpire hasn't been too great either.
  12. Heh, is the clock going to make it more difficult for radio stations to pause 10 seconds for ID?
  13. "Siri, score me a run."
  14. I don't think they even necessarily misplayed it. It was practically like a perfectly-placed bunt; the pitcher fell off to the 3rd-base side so he wasn't ever going to get over in time, the 2nd baseman was too far back and away from 1st, so there was not much chance of getting Greene out.
  15. Jerry Layne is already in midseason form.
  16. See, now that just sounds like the name of a character in a children's book.
  17. Who's the Bobby in the booth with Dan? Bobby in the Booth sounds like a band name.
  18. Clearly, the Phillies roster broke it. None of their pinch hitters/defensive subs are listed.
  19. So far, you can definitely tell Dan is still getting used to it. He's frequently interrupting his own sentences to mention the next pitch, and sometimes not returning to them to finish the thought. And it sort of feels like he's trying to talk faster to fit his stuff in, though he's always been like that to a degree.
  20. He would know, as Mr. Price is already up and over the next hill.
  21. Computer chips. https://www.reuters.com/technology/taiwan-china-us-china-tensions-serious-challenge-chip-industry-tsmc-says-2022-10-19/ Especially after we announced we'd not be exporting related tech to China anymore, and other countries are joining the bandwagon. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/feb/01/chip-war-japan-netherlands-us-tech-export-ban-china-microchips
  22. Eurovision is the stand-in for war over there now. Except for the war-war going on.
  23. They could lower it structurally, but if they're planning on keeping the distances for RF and R-CF, then there's really no good way to do that short of pulling out the front row or two of seats which come down right to the vertical plane of the wall. So what they could do is actually bring in the whole thing by a foot or two and fill it in with flowers or something like they do at Nationals Park or Target Field. That would also probably go towards the "player safety" thing that was mentioned above by building a wall with a bit more "give". https://www.retrosheet.org/ballparks/NatsParkFeatures.htm
