  1. With the exception of CF, it looks like all they're going to do is slap the yellow line on the wall at the new height. I'm not sure what else they could even do, except maybe adjust the pads down to wall height so that a ball has to clearly hit the concrete behind it to be a HR. If it's just the line, that will mean a marked increase in replay reviews for HR/no HR, along with the "placing of runners" shenanigans that comes along with that.
  2. For no reason, I'm posting this link. https://www.mlb.com/news/royals-score-11-runs-in-one-inning-for-win-over-mariners
  3. Ohtani/Trout 3, Rest of Angels 1, Tigers 0.
  4. So that's 3 unearned runs now.
  5. The throw down on the strikeout? He had to leap to catch the ball, and still barely got it snowconed. He was lucky to even have a chance. If anything, he saved it from going down the line.
  6. Maybe they could acquire a halfway decent TV crew.
  7. https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/head2head-games.cgi?team1=DET&team2=SDP&from=1876&to=2022 The Tigers and the Padres have played 5 regular season series. 1 in Detroit (2005), and 4 in San Diego (2003, 2008, 2014, and 2017).
  8. Voiding the contract would really only be necessary if the team thought he might decide to return at some point and don't want him back; otherwise, they could just leave him on the Restricted List, not pay him, AND he couldn't play for another team. I don't know if it would still count against payroll for CBT purposes, though.
  9. It technically wasn't unassisted, since it was a ground ball to 1st with runners on 1st and 3rd, with a throw home.
  10. You don't often see a 2-unassisted caught-stealing.
  11. This is all your fault.
  12. The only reason the team would be exploring voiding the contract is because they ultimately don't think he'll be any good when he comes back, or his personal situation will negatively affect his performance or the team and they don't want to risk him being a toxic asset. Whatever they know or think they know is informing that decision. In any case, they can't live with the uncertainty that the lack of communication is causing. Rodriguez being gone and not keeping the team updated affects all sorts of things with the team, including planning the use of minor league arms to replace him, signing of free agents, draft plans, 40-man roster management, and just budgeting for his salary. If he ever decides he's ready to return, the team would have a hard time justifying keeping him on the restricted list, so they'd have to start paying him whether or not he returns to the roster. The team cannot tolerate 5 years of uncertainty over all of that if he ultimately never returns.
  13. This game is going to require 20 runs to win.
  14. Greene's Glove(tm) is now the entire difference in this game.
  15. Baez with a half cycle so far.
  16. Probably Lange, but hard to say he was "effective" when he gave up a walk and a hit in 1/3 of an inning. If it's not Lange, it will either be Peralta or Chafin.
  17. It would be helpful to score more than 1 run. Nonetheless, Beau Brieske will be waiting for Soto in the dark shadows of the locker room.
  18. I've heard that happen numerous times this season, though this round was one of the longest-lasting. Both home and road games, whatever that might indicate. Can't tell if it's an mlb.tv problem or a WXYT problem since I'm in MD.
  19. Looked like a nice catch by a fan on the HR.
  20. One pitch and the Tigers have lost.
  21. It's working.
  22. Am I taking crazy pills, or did the Tigers just win?
  23. Would have required replay to overturn the call, and that clearly wasn't going to happen.
  24. Coming up: A 3-run home run by Carlos Correa.
  25. Heh, that would have been nice to have realized a while ago. Instead I spent the whole game fighting to get Youtube synced with mlb.com.
