Well, they might fine Amik for daring to strip that football but they can’t take away the fumble. -

McNeil has blown up two Bucs drives. -
I saw a clip on X where Kris Draper was being interviewed about Finnie. It seems when he scouted him before the draft Finnie was not on the radar but ended up getting a lot more ice time than was typical due to injuries of other players. Draper saw Finnie’s skating as elite. He also said that Finnie has grown three inches since then. That’s a little hard to square with pre-draft and current measurements which both show him at 6’1” but agents sometimes exaggerate height pre-draft. And his listed weight is now 190 vs 170 pre-draft. Anyway, seems like Draper was in the right place at the right time to see Finnie’s talents showcased.

GB got away with a blatant hit to Brisset’s head the second to last play. Still waiting for Park Avenue to call down to the field

He had cancer in college. He’s on the non-football injury list. I don’t want to speculate. -

Hope he's ready to go, but if there is a chance of him re-aggravating it (and if it is a pec injury I assume there is), I'd probably err on the side of giving him the game off and two more weeks to rest it. -
I don’t think it is likely either… but the thing is, it is not out of the question. Is it more plausible to believe that Park Avenue was so concerned about the integrity of their rulebook regarding a delay of a second that they violated the part of the rulebook saying that call was not reviewable, or that Park Avenue was putting its finger on the scale to benefit certain interests? It is hard to say. But if the NFL wasn’t putting its finger on the scale, and this was just an honest mistake, they need to come clean and say how the mistake happened and why it won’t happen again. And Sheila/Rod need to demand an explanation. The NFL really fumbled this one.

No panic trades are needed. We will get a home game going into the bye against a team that is as beat up as we are. McNeil will be back and should help the pass rush immediately. The whole starting secondary will get two more weeks to get healthy and everyone should be back to game shape by mid-November. The loss to KC could be a blessing in disguise. Right now there is a high likelihood the two teams could meet in the Super Bowl. Would be good to have a rematch at full strength. Also, we all remember how the Lions responded after their last prime time officiating debacle in Dallas. They would be out for revenge, and that is a good place for Dan to be in.

If they get blame for the misses, they should get credit for the hits. But I think the scouting staff will suddenly start to look better now that the team has a more competitive roster and a more competitive coach. It will become rarer that they have to settle for the second or third or fourth best option on their FA lists just to fill a roster spot.

Special thanks to that sub-par pro scouting staff. 😉

There is, of course, a ton of speculation here, but the NFL has brought it on itself. -

Yes this has been all over. The question I have (and posted in the other thread) is when did that bet come in? Was it after Dan Campbell had his pre-game meeting with the officials (at which he undoubtedly told them about this play)? -
“Item 3. T-Formation Quarterback. It is legal for a T-Formation Quarterback to go in motion, whether he has placed his hands under center, on his knees, or on the body of the center. However, it is a false start if the action is quick and abrupt. If the player fails to come to a complete stop for at least one full second prior to the ball being snapped, it is illegal motion.” This rule is confusing and poorly written. Boomer Esiason was confused about it. He made the point that Goff did not put his hands under center, which is one of the three criteria listed above for establishing that you are a T-formation QB. Goff did not do any of those three things. He did remain behind center for a second but never established himself as a T-formation QB as stated above. Was he required to?
-
Does anyone know when the bet was placed? Like, was it placed after Campbell’s pre-game conference with the officials?
-
Agreed, but it is one thing to have bad calls go against you. It is something entirely different to have the league office call down to the sideline and, apparently, violate the league’s own rulebook to change a call in favor of a team that is already suspected of getting preferential treatment by the league. This weird $500k bet that the guy thought he won, but then lost, is another very odd factor, especially now that the league is accepting massive advertising money from bookies. This does not smell right at all.

This is a Sheila to Roger call now.

Chris needs to determine whether it’s worth a third of a billion dollars to have the hope of someday building a statue of a homegrown talent outside Tiger Stadium (or whatever the hell bank it is named for today). Skubal needs to determine whether he will settle for a third of a billion.
