This moran on the Jets dropped the ball before crossing the goal line. Cut him before he reaches the sideline. Edit: FWIW I think it is lame that they reviewed a play like that. The NFL is way over-officiated. But they should call that guy an Uber and send him home now.

The roster seems short of players that are abrasive to play against. It also seems short of guys who are abrasive to play with. Coaching matters but there have been too many games the past few seasons where the team just seems to lose its composure. It is one thing if coaches call guys out but it is another if your teammates do. They don’t seem to have that kind of leadership.
-
I agree with this. A lot of guys we think are available might not be available yet. And maybe a few guys we don’t think are available could be after Sunday. Also, I’ve thought since the injury that they would want a few weeks to evaluate their backups and determine how significant their need is. Seems like they were high on Muhammad’s performance.

Sometimes they are treated worse.

How do you know this? What data do you have about the number of stops that are made like this and the number of times these stops lead to arrests or charges? We make cops wear body cams because they are alleged to be too hard on black men. Now people are using the body cam footage to say cops are being too easy on black men. It seems the only winners in all this are the sanctimonious journalists who use snippets of body cam footage to manufacture moral outrage then cash in on it.
-
What I don’t understand is why people are getting their panties in a bunch that police did not escalate a situation with a couple of young black men who didn’t hurt anyone — except a few people’s feelings.

It is possible that he is being treated more harshly because he plays for the lions. It is not clear whether police would have gone through with an arrest had he just been some average Jaymo. But they chose not to arrest him. The only reason that this incident is being revisited is that he is a member of the Detroit Lions. it is not necessarily irrelevant for him to have said at the scene that he is a member of the Detroit Lions. Police might have assumed that he was involved in some criminal activity or was affiliated with a gang. By telling them that he is a player for the Detroit Lions, he was indicating to them that they should not be suspicious that he was involved in any other criminal action. Yes, he is immature. But they didn’t necessarily pick him for his maturity. They picked him because he is hard to catch. And the cops didn’t catch him that night. 😂 clearly, I am not on board with all of the pearl clutching. He is a kid and he should grow up. But he has not hurt anybody. He has only let himself and his teammates down.
-
If he’s not listening to advice from his coaches and teammates, he is not listening to people on social media enough that they enable him. 😂 He’s just living in the moment.
-
It would also show poor judgment to be running around those parts WITHOUT guns in the car.
-
At this point, he is going to have to move in with Dan Campbell. They could put cameras in Campbell’s house make a special edition of Hard Knocks. It would be like the TV show Webster updated for the 21st century.
-
Can you imagine a player getting coached by Dan Campbell taunting the crowd DURING A PLAY!?! Incidentally, I heard Mike Florio say he talked to Kalif Raymond after the game, and asked about the team’s success this year. Raymond said that ARSB insists on perfection on the practice field. Winning culture from front office to players.

He benched himself! Steichen must have had a dozen guys come to him and complain. ”Oh you need a breather? Take until the end of the season.”

Week Nine: Detroit Lions (6-1) @ Green Bay Packers (6-2)

The article was dated today! Not sure why the author would have put it out a week late. But it would be great to publish score predictions for games that already happened. 😂 -

Looks like rain Sunday in GB. Temperature should be in the 50s so no issue there. GB is the only team with a safety tandem as good as Detroit’s. Keep it on the ground. -
Bad news when the center is calling out the QB in public.

Remember when everyone was complaining that Holmes was sitting out free agency and he waited until CJGJ fell into his lap on a one year deal for peanuts? Yes, he got injured and it didn’t work out, but Holmes did not bid against himself, even when the fans and media were calling for him to. Remember when everyone was complaining that he didn’t re-sign Jamaal Williams? Then he went out and signed David Montgomery for basically the same money (was it less?) and Montgomery ended up being the far superior player? Holmes is not going to build his team by trading away multiple draft picks for players whose teams aren’t going to trade them anyway. Crosby isn’t coming here. Garrett isn’t coming here. Hendrickson isn’t coming here. But he is on the phone to half a dozen teams gauging the market. They won’t make a deal that helps them at GB but I expect they will get someone at the deadline.

Zeitler has been in and out of the lineup over the past few weeks. It seems like the OL gets out of sync when they have to cycle in the backups. -

Lowest graded on offense: OG Kevin Zeitler – 43.3 WR Tim Patrick – 44.5 WR Allen Robinson II – 51.1 OG Graham Glasgow – 52.5 LT Taylor Decker – 56.3 A week off seems to have left Zeitler rusty and the OL out of sync. I thought Patrick would get some action. Was out for almost every snap but he only got one target. -

If one theme of this season is the MCDC revenge tour, they will definitely want to avenge their Thanksgiving day whipping by the Packers. Detroit went in a little complacent and let Jordan Love have a coming out party. The Lions got outplayed but they also got outcoached. It will be fun to see how they try to avenge that loss. -
Eh… I’m not sure there are any lessons any other franchise could learn from the Lions. Hand off ownership control to the daughter of the former owner and poster boy for ownership ineptitude. Hire a former player for a job nobody could (or can) really define. Then hire a coach that wasn’t on anyone’s list of top coaching prospects for that cycle. Then hire a GM who wasn’t on anyone’s list of top GM prospects for that cycle. Then trade your franchise QB for a QB everyone was saying was washed up, along with some picks, to a team that believed it was just a QB away from a Super Bowl. This wasn’t a typical rebuild. It was not about draft capital. It was about a total reconstruction and realignment of the organization from top to bottom. And it was about some good fortune and good decisions along the way.

“The Lions generated 262 return yards on six total returns, with Raymond earning 190 of those. The unit’s +196 return yards over expected is the most in a game since at least 2018 (previous high, +160), per Next Gen Stats. Toss in kicker Jake Bates netting a career-long 51-yard field goal, and it was a banner day for the Lions special teams unit.” https://www.nfl.com/news/2024-nfl-season-week-8-what-we-learned-from-sunday-s-games -

Is there any chance at this point that Goff will finish with more passing yards than Kalif Raymond has return yards?
