  1. There is a buzz around the Lions. Also Campbell gives the networks some confidence that the Lions won’t lay an egg in a prime time slot. If I had to bet I’d guess the Lions get two prime time games next year. PS: If the Rams had done a bit better, or the Lions a bit worse, there was a chance the Lions would host Stafford. But Seattle looks more likely as the NFC West opponent.
  2. Impressive defense. Good job by Campbell and Johnson of protecting Goff from it. 20% of Goff's passing yards came on the one big play.
  3. Sauce Gardner played 66 snaps. The Lions did not throw his way once. Wouldn't it be nice to have a CB on the Lions who could earn that kind of respect?
  4. Has there been a single week since Brady became a starting QB over two decades ago when the Lions have had a better record than Brady's team has?
  5. It's pulling plays like that 4th and inches out of his back pocket that gets people talking. He's done that frequently this season. On the broadcast the analysts were saying that other coaches talk about how there are a few plays each week that he dials up that they have no film of. (Perhaps if he calls plays for another season he'll run out of concepts that he's showing for the first time.)
  6. Panthers, Colts, probably Cardinals, maybe Texans, Broncos, possibly a wild-card team. As hot of a target Johnson might be, he only has one year of play calling experience. That would be a red flag. Not saying owners don't hire past red flags all the time, but the HC role is a major jump from calling plays.
  7. If Johnson goes, one of Staley, Engstrand, or Brunell will stay and take the OC role. (I don't know if any of them is capable, but there is a buzz around Engstrand recently.) Also, DC is now known around the league as a coach's coach. Lots of talented guys around the league will want to work for him as he is likely to start his own coaching tree.
  8. Campbell and Johnson protected Goff today. He got to uncork one deep shot and underthrew Jaymo by a yard. The 4th and inches play design was genius.
  9. Where’s the Panthers game thread I’m pumped and ready to start posting. 😂
  10. Great win on the road against a team that was 7-6 despite having bad QB play. Jets defense is good but the Lions did not beat themselves.
  11. Still an uncomfortable amount of time.
  12. If Goff was holding on to the ball trying to push it downfield and getting sacked or stripped we’d be after him too. NYJ are a good defensive football team.
  13. Ragnow with another hold. Yikes.
  14. How did Swift not pick that up?
  15. Ian Eagle gets it. Campbell does not want to make the big mistake.
  16. I’m sure Campbell is having Johnson call a conservative game. Let Wilson make the mistakes.
  17. Well, the Jets have a good front. At least two holds were the backup guard.
  18. Is that four holding calls on the day? That’s as much of a reason for the team’s struggles as Goff.
  19. I believe that was Jarrad Davis getting turned around in coverage on the big gain before the TD.
  20. At this point, the worst that could happen is that they end up exceeding my preseason expectation (six wins) by one. But they very easily could win out and sneak into the playoffs one year early. Now if Minnesota loses out and we win out, and we win the division, that will be both awesome and hilarious. It’s all gravy from here.
  21. But if you watch it on a 3” screen it’s 👌🏻
  22. This is a good point. More broadly, who knows what the Texans will do. Is there a more unpredictable franchise in the NFL?
