  1. I never said they would have won with Montgomery and Jackson. I said it would have made a difference. A beating but maybe not a brutal one And you are more pessimistic that I thought if you assume the Lions would have scored even fewer points if they had two of their most important offensive players. 😊
  2. Montgomery picked up a 4th and 5 running last week, behind a pull block from Jackson IIRC. So yes, it seems likely if they had been healthy the Lions would not have been down 28-0 before getting a first down.
  3. I’m sympathetic to the pessimism. We’ve all been hurt before. OTOH, these really aren’t the SOL. And every team in the NFL has a flaw this season. Philly fewer than most at this point, but they have a bruising schedule coming up, and a QB who seems to have a knee issue. I’m letting myself hope.
  4. So now we are hearing that this Stalions kid sold a house and self-funded dozens of scouting trips. Never requested a dime of reimbursements from UM. Am I missing something or did this guy have weird pathological delusions of grandeur?
  5. The best team Detroit played caught them without Montgomery, who is the heart of their running game, and with a clearly hobbled Vaitai in the lineup and Jonah Jackson out of it. Detroit was playing with one hand behind its back, and you could tell they knew it. The second best team they played won the coin toss in OT. If they stay healthy, anything can happen, including winning the #1 seed. In the playoffs, anything can happen, especially if they get the #1 seed, and especially if they get a quality pass rusher and DB back.
  6. True. In the back of my mind I’m thinking about a possible rematch with Baltimore in February.
  7. Mark Andrews out for the season in Baltimore.
  8. I’m sure Campbell’s agent knows how much A&M would offer. And will share that number with Rod Wood.
  9. They are slow playing Houston but still saying late December. Imagine having both of them back for a home playoff game.
  10. The media are like mice in those experiments that just push buttons to see which ones produce food pellets.
  11. I saw a comment on Reddit about the Irvin signing. “Why Chase Young whe you can Chase Old.” 🙃
  12. This is dated Nov. 9, so before the Chargers game, but PFF has Hutchinson as one of the top edge rushers in the league in terms of pressures recorded and pass rush grade. Yes, the team’s pass rush has been streaky and disappointing, but Hutch has been pretty good. Highest-graded player: Edge Aidan Hutchinson(90.0) Only Maxx Crosby and Micah Parsons have more pressures than Hutchinson (46), and he boasts a top-10 pass-rush grade (89.3).
  13. I had heard about the airing of grievances but not about Pierce’s NYG flex. That is awesome. All of these coaches have been riding Brady’s coattails. Even Belichick.
  14. That TD pass to Brock Wright was a beauty.
  15. Yes, this seems to be what Campbell is concerned about. He was complaining about the defense not being able to deal with motion and hurry up, which seem like basic things they need to handle. OTOH if someone told me that they would sign two new starters in the defensive backfield who would both miss almost the entire season, and their pass rushing phenom would miss almost the entire season, and they’d still improve to be an average defense, I would have thought that’s a pretty good outcome under the circumstances.
  16. They were the worst defense in the NFL last year. Now they are middle of the pack. Top third of the league in yards allowed, slightly below average in points allowed. And this is with injuries to their top two defensive free agent signings and to their top rotational pass rusher. Clearly they aren’t executing like they think they should and that is ultimately on Glenn. But I’m not sure anyone could reasonably expect them to have performed much better given the circumstances.
  17. Well, Ken Dorsey is out as OC in Buffalo. He wasn’t throwing those interceptions or putting the ball on the turf, but I guess it’s easier to blame Dorsey than it is to blame Allen. Also Dorsey wasn’t responsible for having 12 men on the field on the last second FG attempt.
  18. I have to say, though, this is an entertaining game. Edit: Oh what a roller coaster! Lutz misses a potentially game-winning 41-yarder at the last second, but Buffalo has 12 men on the field! Lutz nails the 36-yard kick to ice it for Denver. Not exactly playoff football, but worth the price of admission. 😂
  19. But I tell you what, this Denver team is resilient. They are starting to figure it out and will actually be a tough competitor for Detroit later in the season.
  20. Yes, he needed Caldwell to rein him in. Buffalo is a sloppy offensive team. Fourth turnover and counting.
  21. They cannot hang on to the ball. Allen is like Favre, rifling balls into places they have no business being. His nickname should be Tip Drill. Edit: There he goes again. He has no discipline.
  22. Also DJ Chark and Tee Higgins, two other guys that people have compared Williams against, are barely any better on that score. Yes, sample size matters, yes, timing and trust with the QB matters. This is why it wouldn’t take much for Williams to change the narrative. Maybe Williams is just a busy and maybe DPJ will be an improvement over Williams as the sixth receiving option, but there is no guarantee. But mostly I appreciate the reminder of why I have you on mute. Next time I won’t peek.
  23. TFW you realize DPJ is one of five players in the NFL with a lower catch rate than Jaymo.
  24. Maybe. Looks like on this play ASB went in motion to Jaymo’s side. It’s safe to assume ASB was the primary target and they were looking for Jaymo to pull the safety off. But LA blitzed from the slot and ASB remained double covered, leaving Jaymo wide open. He ended up getting the target late in the route, probably because ASB was primary target and Goff wasn’t expecting slot blitz. Maybe Goff was reluctant to throw to Jaymo but he handled his business this game and if he gets that wide open again I think Goff will be ready to pull the trigger.
  25. I'll beat the horse one more time. (Really I'm not looking for a horse to beat, I'm just procrastinating.) Here is David Montgomery on the Jaymo block: “Definitely, I want to highlight (Williams). That’s the second time this year I’ve been running and Jamo’s been there to lead the way. That takes a lot from him, too, for him to be who he is and be able to run and go block for me. I was running as fast as I was, and he was jogging and he still beat me. I’m a little hurt about that. But I’ll suppress those feelings for later.” He was jogging and he still beat me. Classic. 😂
