It will be interesting to see how it is structured. I would like to believe that if JG and don't forget his agent, did not 'pay more towards the rest of the team' in terms of total contract amounts, they were willing to structure it in it a team friendly manner, whatever that looks like with 170M guaranteed. 😲 With that, I will depend on the more astute cap guys here to explain that when it becomes known.
yea...lots behind this we aren't aware of.
I read somewhere and also believe that our coaches think they can bring out the best in players. In the absence of other evidence, I got to believe they think DPJ is enough to not spend more on WR, at least any that are/were recently available.
I was wondering this also. I know he has boat loads of confidence and I seem to recall he didn’t mind showing that, but locker room cancer is a different beast entirely…
Also, this reminds me of what Campbell and Holmes preached early on. Put players in positions to succeed, don't force players into a plan...plan around the player. Coaches should be able to do this.
And yes...this will be an interesting year for Glenn with this increase in talent.
The #'s that attended are even more convincing how much Detroit is a sports town and that pride is generated by our teams. It may be obvious...there is causal relationship (is that correct?) between the success of the Lions and the self esteem the city has, which can be a reason for less stupid acts. I imagine this has been studied somewhere by someone.
Good for Detroit and the Lions. Don't underestimate what Campbell, Holmes and the players have done for not only the team but also the city.
👍
AND...I wouldn't be surprised if D. Smith just called his agent..."did you see that?" My gut tells me Smith does not complete that deal if he stays healthy.
Here's one for your list...courtesy of Wikipedia...what a write up...🤣
Lynn Ray Boden (born June 5, 1953) is an American former professional football player who was an offensive guard for five seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the Detroit Lions (1975–1978) and the Chicago Bears (1979).[1] He played college football at South Dakota State University.[2] He was selected in the first round of the 1975 NFL draft with the 13th overall pick by Detroit.[3] He has 2 children, Eric and Molly. His favorite restaurant is Shucks.
For sure Barry.
Then I'd never be able to argue anyone of these is more deserving, of #2-3, Karras, Calvin, Barney, Joe Schmidt, Lane.
And probably forgot someone...
I like that Holmes has already said that he might need to apologize if he trades out of rd. 1. Shows some great awareness and understanding of the fan point of view.
Like the blue and white versions. The black is better than I expected, but still a distant 3rd. I do like the matte finish on the blue helmet, glad the didn’t go chrome at all.
Looks good if so, as best I can try to visualize it with the helmet and pants combinations. Back to traditionally styled numbers and outlines. What I hope is they don't make a huge mess by infusing black...felt forced and I never liked it.
However they navigate this, I really hope this does not lead to 'fake injury' and the said injured player returns next play. This may be extreme thinking...unfortunately my head goes to soccer/LeBron type antics to get calls. Hope not!
Only speculation I have is grab the waist, hold on and slide down to the legs, getting dragged a few more yards in the process, if the ball carrier does not blow open the hold and keep running.
The other thing I look forward to is the offensive player jumping in up and throwing his imaginary flag at each and every opportunity.
The longer this plays out the more it has the potential to get wild (more than it already is). My mind can go to lots places trying to come up with possible explanations. But, I heard someone say, usually the simplest one is the right one.
