  1. I'm certain that there are many cases of this. Interestingly enough, most high end acoustic guitars come with a built in tuner so the tuners are redundant. Its ten times more annoying when people leave them on electric guitars.
  2. The old timers will remember The Cosyns vs everybody. John could be very decent at times but his brother Jerry was something else. When the two of them got together, they were merciless in their vitriol. Tigercap and EwE got run off because of them.
  3. We watched Violent Night over the weekend. It was very funny at times buy mostly a dull movie with a lot of blood and violence. It was amusing that they channeled a little "Home Alone" in it. The characters were basically just there. It seemed more of a vehicle to show a drunken Santa destroying criminals.
  4. I have an audio spectrogram of my children saying "I love you Dada" tattooed on my forearm.
  5. Speaking of the OJays, If you've never visited this then you're missing out on a terrific performance.
  6. * Something to wear - You Can Leave Your Hat On - Joe Cocker * A Place - The Night Tore Ol Dixie Down - The Band * Animal - Animal - Def Leppard * A Number - One - Three Dog Night * A color - Black Velvet (can't remember the artists name) * A Girl’s Name- Melissa - Allmann Bros * A Boy’s Name - Major Tom - Peter Something * Profession - Working 9-5 - Dolly Parton * Day of the week - Tuesday Afternoon - Moody Blues
  7. It is a great cover! Not for nothing, one of my musician pet peeves are guitarists who leave tuners on the top of their headstocks. I think perhaps a lot of people think it makes them look like they're better musicians than they are. Others are most likely just lazy. Take the dang thing off and put it on a mic stand or buy a discreet one.
  8. Maria Menounos has an obnoxious laugh that is somehow adorable.
  9. Agreed. I'd love to compare the charitable offerings of Dolly vs Babwa. I wouldn't be surprised if Dolly was 1000x more charitable.
  10. We were amused for the entire movie. It was absolutely ridiculous in the most enjoyable way.
  11. Yes on Marisa Tormei. Especially, as Rob said, as Aunt Meg. That said: Avatar way of the water Visually very captivating though I thought they did a better job with the first one. The plot and storyline were absolutely ridiculous. The military personnel were way to over the top and the ending was completely unsatisfying. It felt like a lot of scenes existed just to showcase what they could do with computer animation. The bright spots: Zoe Saldano is one heck of an actress. She really knows how to convey emotion even through cgi. Sigourney Weaver is still as pretty as a picture and her portraying her own daughter was a lot of fun. Overall 2 out of four stars. Boring movie overall which was about an hour too long.
  12. I always liked the music but was hooked once I saw his live show. It’s phenomenal.
  13. Video killed the radio star! As an aside, I was listening to Ronstadt the other day and reminisced on just how drop dead gorgeous she was back in the day. She had the benefit of extreme talent and magazine-cover-good-looks.
  14. I don't disagree with any of this. I will say it's a standard in the music industry. Would Alice Cooper, Kiss, Marilyn Manson, Motley Crue, Wasp etc etc be as famous as they became without their schtick? I'm not saying it's right nor am I arguing against your opinion, it just is what it is.
  15. If your interest is in old architecture mixed with a little drama, here's one for you. Tasty Nut Shop - White Pigeon, MI - Delicious Homemade Candies Apparently, the city manager and the owner of the building had a little tift at the person's personal residence and the ongoing theory is that the city manager, who has been reported to be spiteful and vengeful, decided to condemn the over 100-year-old building. Hilarity has ensued. The owner has since passed and there is a 501c that owns the building in an attempt to raise funds to restore it. Officials: Tasty Nut Shop building should be razed (aol.com)
  16. I agree with all of the above with the exception of her singing. I think she possesses a wonderful voice. Marketing or not, all the things she does to obtain success require a great deal of work and dedication. She didn't obtain her fame from laziness and that is for sure.
  17. There was a time when I was absolutely burnt out on the Stones and didn't listen to them for years. It's amazing how talented they all are. Richards is such a lazy player but gets such a huge sound. It's a head scratcher how much space he fills with so little.
  18. As the resident Kiss fan here, I have to say I completely understand your opinion. They did a lot of damage to the credibility of the music with their marketing of toys etc. That said, the early early stuff is very progressive and riff driven. They were hungry and wrote some great rock songs. Then, when commercial success started to occur, we have the Kiss that you describe. If you listen to these songs with earbuds on and without the preconceived notion of four adults in clown makeup, maybe you'll change your mind.
  19. I tried several times with Radiohead. I wanted to like them. I wanted to love them. I just didn't get it. For me it's Waylon Jennings. Old school country people rave about him but it just escapes me.
