  1. They had a -82 goal differential and ranked 25th in total goals. I think they need all the scoring they can get. Rolling out two lines with really productive offensive defenceman, plus the additions of Copp and Perron, could really elevate this offense. I still think we need a true, top line centre to get into Cup contending status, but Klingberg could be a big addition for our offensive production.
  2. Same. He's been my top free agent want of the season. The fact that we could role out two lines with top-tier offensive defenceman, capable of producing 50+ points is really enticing.
  3. The Blackhawks got two franchise players when they tanked too, as did the Bruins, Kings, and Lightning. Blackhawks got Kane and Towes Bruins got Kessel and Segiun in a round-a-bout-way (the Kessel trade netted them Seguin and Dougie Hamilton) Kings got Doughty and Kopitar Lightning got Stamkos and Hedman Maybe it is Seider and Raymond for us?
  4. I think what Buddha said is true. We don't have superstar players on this team outside of Seider and it shows on the ice. Larkin isn't a #1 centre on a Stanley Cup winning team, I don't think. Neither he, nor anyone else on this roster, sans maybe Raymond one day, is going to be a perennial 40+ goal scorer. I think in general we lack not only a 40 goal scorer, but an offensive player who can take over the game and dominate. Missing out on guys like Jack Hughes in the lottery hurts when you're in need of a #1, top line Center. I think Larkin is a very nice player, but I don't think he's carrying us to the Cup ala Datsyuk or Z back in the 2000's. We need a superstar, scoring more than 31 goals on average in a season, to lead and quarterback this offense. I don't know where we are going to get that player and I'm not sure our most recent draft pick Marco Kasper, who I like a lot, is going to be that guy either. We need to find ourselves a dominate offensive playmaker and it would be real nice if that person just happened to play centre and could quarterback our offense.
  5. Glenn Younkin beat Mcauliffe. Doesn't that signify they'll come out and vote?
  6. I read on Twitter that Klingberg might be signing a 1 year deal with Ottawa, but IDK how reputable that person posting it was.
  7. Does Trump announcing before the midterms give the GOP voters juice to turnout and vote though? Could it have the opposite effect of what some think it could have?
  8. Who wants Klingberg at 7 years? I didn't say that. I mentioned previously 4-5 years at $4.75mil/year and would have gone up to $5mil/year. Look, I'm not going to cry about going with Chiarot over Klingberg. I just would have preferred Klingberg instead. Maybe we'll still get him and hopefully Chairot isn't on the downside of his career.
  9. We ranked 25th in total team goals and had a -82 goal differential. If Klingberg can help facilitate more offense, he had 41 assists versus Nick Leddy who had 21 in 21-22, then that's a guy I want on my team. We need offensive production more than we need defensive defenseman. I trust Yzerman and believe he made solid moves yesterday. I would have rather given the Chariot money to a guy like Klingberg though who can help drive offensive production.
  10. I don't think it's fair to say schools are reopened because of the GOP. I think schools reopened as more parents demanded it, from all political sides of the aisles, and elected leaders, like Whitmer, accepted the fact that we are going to have to live with some level of Covid. Sure, the GOP and right made a stink about it, but they were doing that many months before schools reopened. It wasn't as quick as they made a stink and right there after schools went back in-person.
  11. Two guys I wanted going into free agency were John Klingberg and Dylan Strome. Those would have been my "splash" signings with a guy like Matta added in for depth. I would have offered John Klingberg 4-5 years at $4.75mil/year and gone up to $5mil/year.
  12. I was hoping for one more full on tank season, giving us another crack at a top 3 lottery pick. These moves today probably seal the fate of that.
  13. Were this Kenny I'd probably be trashing it a lot more haha. I am going to give Stevie some slack, but this is not the defenseman I would have signed and not the length of contract I would have given out. If we couldn't have gotten Chariot for any less on any shorter of a deal than I would have passed on him altogether.
  14. I don't get what signing Perron at 34 does for us unless we're trying to win now next year. Perron seems like he is primed for a big drop off in production.
  15. If you're going to give Jill Stein votes to Hillary then don't you have to give Gary Johnson votes to Trump? Johnson got more votes than Stein, so doesn't that negate that argument?
  16. Doug Karsch on 97.1 talking about Detroit signing Olli Maatta.
  17. My top free agent targets are/were Dylan Strome as our #2 Center, John Klingberg as a second pairing defenseman, and if we're being big spenders and getting a third piece, Nino Niederreiter as more scoring depth at the wing.
  18. How can we get Strome now? That's the guy I really want.
  19. Do you believe that Merrick Garland or someone in his DOJ will indict Donald Trump on a crime related to January 6th or the 2020 Election, yes or no? My answer is no and I want to be wrong in the worst way. There seems to be this horrible doctrine among people in DC, including the legal community, that the President of the United States is above the law and any penalties it may impose, I feel like Garland subscribes to that narrative, as does an institutionalist like Biden. Furthermore, they don't like the political optics of potentially prosecuting a future political opponent. I feel like we will get a half-baked, Robert Muller type of answer from the DOJ where they will point out improprieties of Trump and stop short of calling out the criminality or calling what he did criminally illegal. Thus, he will escape legal liabilities and get to do another "I was exonerated" world tour and victory lap as he did after the Mueller Investigation,.
  20. I agree with 84. Trump seems to be a cat, with 9 lives, immune to any real accountability. I'll believe it when I see it when it comes to him facing prison time.
  21. I'd like to think so, but there is this DC mantra about not indicting a former President and I fear Garland subscribes to it. I have lost faith that Trump will be held accountable for any of this because I feel like the White House doesn't want to "politicize" this buy indicting a man who will be Biden's opponent in 2024. I'd like to be 1,000% wrong, but I won't believe it until I see Merrick Garland's DOJ bring actual charges down on Trump.
  22. WOW, all of those Congressmembers there at the December meeting trying to plot out how to overturn free and fair elections. Gohmert, Gym, MTG, all the MAGA heavyweights.
