  1. So Jacksonville is taking Hutch or trading the pick to someone who will? I have a hard time believing there is zero chance Hutch is available at 2.
  2. That's a great commercial. At least he didn't say that it was the worst phone ever, run by the worst carrier ever, with the worst reviews ever. He had every right to say his old phone was crappy (the Lions teams he played on), the network was the worst (Lions organization is the worst franchise in major pro sports history), and the reviews were terrible (fans like me who bitched incessantly that he wasn't capable of getting it done).
  3. Just because I speak at an event sponsored by a white nationalist doesn't mean I am a white nationalist. You can't use guilt by association. I speak at white nationalist sponsored events because and you people in the media always do this to conservatives. Actually they don't. Mitt Romney is a conservative, so is Liz Cheney, so is her father Dick Cheney, so is Kay Bailey-Hutchison, and so were Bob Dole, Jack Kemp, William F. Buckley. But guess why the media doesn't or never did that to them, BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T SPEAK AT EVENTS SPONSORED BY WHITE NATIONALIST LEADERS!
  4. My dad's father used to beat the shit out of him and his two brothers. I don't mean spank with a firm hand or a belt. I mean pick them up by their necks, pin them against the wall, and punch them in the stomach kind of an ass kicking. Knock them off their chairs at the kitchen table because they didn't finish their peas kind of abuse. So I'm 100% sure the abusive childhood, intermixed with the fact that their own mother abandon them and having to kill people in Vietnam, is why my dad is the racist, intolerant Trump supporter he is. I've had a theory that a fair percentage of Trump supporters (I couldn't give you a specific percentage, but I'd guess over 30-35%) have lived or do live miserable lives. People who grew up in chaotic environments, like my dad, and are damaged socially and emotionally as a result. There for, they are miserable and want others to feel as miserable as they are feeling. Their own insecurities and trauma are cast upon others, as if humanity society abandon them when they needed help the most and there for everyone should feel their scorn. In reality, a candidate like Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, or any far-left Democrat would be the best for them given the policies they support. A social democracy, with generous public assistance programs, robust services, and efficient government agencies would best help these people out. It may have helped to stop or limit the trauma they experienced growing up because these agencies or services could have stepped in to help. Instead though, they vote for candidates like Trump, Paul Ryam, Majorie Taylor Greene, Mitch McConnell, and others who want to gut social welfare programs and dismantle agencies built to provide helpful social services. So it becomes a downward spiral with few resources and people who are able to step in and change their circumstances.
  5. I agree with this. I'm glad they didn't go break the bank on mid-level talent or aging players. We're not in a position yet to go gangbusters in free agency and throw around stupid money for guys like Allen Robinson, Von Miller, J.C. Jackson, etc. I'm glad they didn't do desperate things and happy to see Holmes sticking to some sort long term of plan here. So far I really like what I've watched from Brad Holmes and Co. in 1 1/2 offseasons and like the plan they are putting together by building with younger, cheaper talent for now and spending when the roster is in a position to starting winning, which isn't right now. Patience is a good thing right now and there is no need to break the bank just to try and get this team to 7-8-0 wins next season. There were a couple of players I really wanted in free agency. Marcus Williams or Jessie Bates were the big splash's I wanted them to make but they missed out on Williams and Bates resigned with the Bengals. I also wanted De'Vondre Campbell or someone of similar stature to upgrade the LB unit. But truthfully, they could just as easily acquire that type of talent in the draft too with all the capital they have.
  6. Outside of a handful of songs, I don't listen to rap or hiphop. I went on the hunt for new music to listen to outside the boundaries of what I normally listen to genre-wise. I got hooked up with a rap song called They Reminisce Over You by artists named Peter Rock & CL Smooth. I had never heard the song nor of either artist. Real solid stuff!
  7. So the millions of people Stalin killed in a famine in the 1930s were what, just a bunch of Russians?
  8. With Chark and a potential high round receiver coming onto the roster, Goff will be forced to prove whether or not he is the guy long term. He will have an adequate amount of weapons it seems.
  9. I'm still on the take Hutch or Thibs wagon at #2, but now I'll add Trevon Walker into that mix. If they can get one of the three still by trading down, I'm all about it. But I still want the Lions taking one of those three players.
  10. Damn! This sucks! It's not like end of the world sucks, but Williams was the perfect fit for our team and our coaching staff. Oh well, Safety looking more likely in the draft now. I just hope they don't have aspirations of drafting Kyle Hamilton at #2.
  11. I would love to get Myles Jack as long as it didn't involved a crazy contract.
  12. I have a feeling Charles Harris is not coming back, especially if we're going all in for Marcus Williams. Adding up the $10 million you just gave Chark up front and assuming we're going aggressively after Williams, where does the money come from for Charles Harris?
  13. WOW! DJ Chark on a 1 year deal for only $10/million is awesome! If gives us the upper hand to negotiate with him during the season if he's looking good or cut bait if he's another bum. Great job by Brad Holmes here.
  14. I would rather get DJ Chark, who is younger and cheaper, than I would overpaying for Robinson if I had to pick one of the Wideouts in free agency. I'd be just fine if we didn't add a Receiver until the draft though.
  15. When you play with all those elite weapons and QBs in the AFC West you have to load up on D and with playmakers of your own if you're the Chargers.
  16. Shad Kahn and Jacksonville are starting out free agency with a trio of outrageous contracts with Christian Kirk becoming the third highest paid WR in the league according to report and then signing DT Foley Fatukasi and LB Foyesade Oluokun to big deals. Trent Baalke was a subpar GM in SanFran and it appears to be no different in Jacksonville. Only now he's got a dumb owner spending like a drunken sailor to aid him on. Shad's son is better at running AEW than his dad is the football team.
  17. I would like to see Charles Harris back and would think it would be a priority. If some team is going to overpay for him, then let them, but I would think given our lack of pass rush and pressure on the QB, Harris would be near the top of their list.
  18. De'vondre Campbell, the Packers other top LB, was the other big free agent target I wanted outside of Marcus Williams. Smith is certainly intriguing given that he had 12.5 sacks just two years ago and was highly productive in his first year in Green Bay. He's 29 and about to be 30 I think, so I worry is he on the wrong side of 30 here soon.
  19. Tim Boyle is back per Dave Birckett . . .
  20. I think every poster here is all in on Marcus Williams. He is such a perfect fit for us. Knows Glenn and Campbell well, talented as hell, scheme fit, culture fit. I really think he is our one, splashy free agent signing this week. I'm with you on Allen Robinson and don't want him brought in. If next season were one where he had our QB in place, the rebuild was wrapping up and we were ready to compete I'd be ready for it. But we are not. I don't think I want any of the top-tier Wideouts in this years free agency class. I'd rather push my chips in on a younger, cheaper player in the draft and hope he develops well.
  21. No, but his whole I'm retired or will I retire this year schtick is old.
  22. We have to sit through another season of all the Tom Brady talk. Just go to Maralago with your boy and go away! I'm so over Tom Brady.
  23. In terms of being a Catholic, it sounds like I did have a rouge teacher. The thing is though, even if the Catholic Church doesn't believe it, the radical right evangelicals do and they are shaping public policy all across the country. In-fact, we are seeing a trend where fewer and fewer Republicans believe in Evolution. There is Pew Research Poll from 2014 on Evolution. 43% of Republicans and 67% of Democrats say they believe that humans have evolved. A majority of Republicans are either unsure and/or believe we were created by the hand of God and have been the same way forever and ever. The data below breaks it down by religion too, where you see a majority of bible thumping Evangelicals don't believe in Evolution. The core point to all of this is that it amazes me how independent-leaning voters overall can even remotely trust Republican politicians more or equal to Democrats on matters of education when you have them out their denying basic scientific consensus, trying to teach Creationism, and ban books all at the same time.
  24. To be clear, this was merely religious education class for me, not school. I went to public schools. But yes, my 4th grade Catechism instructor really did say that to us as students at St. John Neumann Church in Canton. I don't think that's any less ridiculous than people believing the Noah's Arc Story or that someone could turn bread into fish.
