  1. If Michigan loses on Saturday and then goes and gets trucked by Ohio State, does Harbaugh deserve to keep his job at 10-2?
  2. I would never draft Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander. I don't think he can make all the throws.
  3. Call your shot, who wins the game? I am going to go with Michigan. As much as I don't trust Harbaugh in big games, and why should anyone given his paltry record, but I think Michigan's defensive dominance will play a big factor in why they win. Their defensive performance under Mike McDonald this season feels different than at any time under Dr. Blitz. If they can limit the running game for MSU and get after the QB and put pressure on Payton Thorne and make him have to scramble and improvise they are going to win this. I don't think Payton Thorne can be asked to beat this Michigan defense. Take away his running game and get him under duress and you can win this thing because you have an offense that is led by a game managing QB who doesn't turn the ball over. MSU has also flown by the seat of their pants in several games this year, Nebraska most notably. Facing a defense like Michigan's, this could be the week it finally catches up with them.
  4. As a Lions fan, if you were in town in Detroit for a game or visiting whomever, would you and a group of buddies pay $50 or so a ticket to take a tour through the museum/hall of shame? An unscientific poll of my friends and coworkers almost everyone said they would go at least once. I think the average fan would go at least once. I think they'd get a kick out of to seeing an exhibit where Monty Clark is praying while Eddie Murray kicks and misses the field goal or where Germaine Crowell stays inbounds and runs out the clock. We don't have good memories to elicit as a franchise, so this would be a loveable, laughable nostalgia trip for fans I think.
  5. If one were able to secure the $100k capital necessary to use the NFL name and branding, do you think the NFL and Lions would license out their name, likeness, branding, and trademarks to start up my business idea? What I want to do is open up the Detroit Lions: SOL Museum of Futility downtown Detroit. The idea would be much like a regular museum. One in which fans can walk through various interactive displays and go through guided tours to learn more about the tortured history and futility of the Detroit Lions. The museum would consist of various sections including a gift shop, bar & grill restaurant, and of course the museum exhibits themselves. Each exhibit would be broken down into decades. Each decade would have all-time SOL moments on display. There, fans can read about and watch various moments of futility associated with this franchise. From the 1950s and the Fords buying the team to give to William Clay Ford to the 1980's and the Lions drafting a Fullback over a franchise QB in Jim Kelly to the 1990s and Barry Sanders retiring via a fax to the 2000s with Matt Millen and Marty taking the wind to the 2010s to the 2010s and Jim Schwartz throwing a challenge flag when he couldn't. If it is an SOL moment, it will be on full display. As a fan you get to walk through the maze of mediocrity, decade by decade and witness SOL history. At the end of your trip you go through to the giftshop where you can buy SOL memorabilia. You can get ticket packages that include autographed paper bags to put over your head, signed by by all time SOL greats, like Scott Mitchell, Wayne Fotnes, Germaine Crowell, Marty Mornhinweg, Matt Millen, Martin Mayhew, Matt Patricia, and others. So, do you think the NFL will be receptive to this idea and license out their and the Lions trademarks and such to start this museum? Also, as a Lions fan, if you like in Metro Detroit or were in-town visiting, would you check out the museum if such a thing were to become a reality?
  6. Here's the full movie if anyone wants to give Coherence a watch . . .
  7. I watched a fantastic and unique sci-fi/horrorish movie over the weekend called Coherence. The movie is shot in the Director's living room, has a small cast of only 8, and looks low budget. But let me tell you, the plot is really clever and it requires you to connect a lot of dots and follow a lot of moving pieces as you go along. So while it is low budget, the writing, plot, and acting makes for a really intriguing movie. Imagine if you existed as you, but in other dimensions of the universe. Now imagine you were going to a dinner party with friends, and different versions of you and your friends crossed over into the dimension you are currently living in and showed up at the dinner party, in your current dimension. Now imagine you ended up at the wrong dinner party in the wrong dimension. That's basically where this film is going and it does a great job twisting and turning to make you think critically and connect all the moving parts together.
  8. I don't take any TE in the first round unless you can promise me they are Kelce or Gonzalez or Gronk 2.0 and even then, I'm skeptical. I crapped all over the pick at the time and wanted one of Brian Burns, Montez Sweat, Devin Bush, and yeah, Ed Oliver. Sure, Ed Oliver seems like a bust, but I would love to have one of Burns/Sweat/Bush on this horrid defense. Hopefully the new regime has a no TE's in the first round philosophy haha.
  9. No way does Willis get past the Broncos, Falcons, Football Team, Panthers, and Texans unless he absolutely bombs out the rest of the season and/or at the combine. It's probably too early to say this, but I think if we want Willis it's either take him #1 overall or trade back up into the top 10-11-12 to get him.
  10. I still like the idea of what Malik Willis could become,: our Josh Allen, Deshaun Watson, or Lamar Jackson. He has all the physical tools of a modern NFL QB. He's got a cannon for an arm, can make all the throws, good enough size, athleticism for days, and mobility inside and out of the pocket to create plays and extend drives. He also seems to be a good kid without any of the Dwayne Haskins or Ryan Mallet type off the field or mental health issues. He seems like the type of player who would be receptive to NFL coaching, willing to listen and grow. The things he struggles with as far as some of his mechanics, decision making and willingness to gamble a little too much can be worked on and fixed. Remember Josh Allen coming out of Wyoming. He was seen as a risky pick because of his decision making, bad habits and a completion % that was below 60% and he's turned around to be one of the leagues elite QBs. Willis has all the same physical tools Allen had with a big arm, mobility, and athleticism. I'm still tempted to take Willis #1 overall and pass on Thibodeaux.
  11. He's got Hockenson to throw to and lately he doesn't even seem to be going to him much. He's become a Checkdown Charlie and worse yet, he's not even good at the checkdown play calls.
  12. PFN: Carson Strong Scouting Report
  13. Or Colin Kapernick. But yeah. it was a pointless trade for them and it would be pointless for the Lions to try and bring someone in to push Goff at this point.
  14. I think the Jets were dumb to trade anything for the corpse of Joe Flacco. He adds no value whatsoever to a team that is going nowhere and needs to maximize their draft capital. I'm glad this regime has not panicked and looked to add another QB to the roster via a trade. The Trinity Benson trade was worthless enough, we don't need to be surrendering anymore draft picks for a player who will provide no impact whatsoever on a lost season.
  15. That's another advantage we have, a QB who limits turning the ball over. Cade might not be flashy and I do feel we need to stretch the field more than we're doing. But if Cade can protect the football and our defense can create turnovers, Thorne or otherwise, I think we can succeed this way.
  16. I have to say, I do give Harbaugh credit for the positive turnaround this year. But more than any sort of general credit given to him, the real key is that I think he has potentially made the best hire of his Michigan tenure in Mike McDonald as DC. Gone are the days of Dr. Blitz Don Brown, blitzing for the sake of it, and leaving your Corners out on an island to get torched in coverage. I have really liked watching what McDonald has done with this defense and the balance he has brought to the play calling. So kudos all around to Harbaugh for listening to his brother and hiring the guy and of course to McDonald for the solid coaching so far. In a game of two evenly matched teams, I think his play calling and the positions he puts his kids in could end up being the key to this game for Michigan.
  17. I think if they had done the Carolina deal Fields possibly would have been the guy. Sewell and Fields together would have at very least given TP no reason to complain.
  18. Pickett had two options there, the guy crossing midfield and the guy running the pattern up the sideline. I think Pickett had picked up both guys and just trusted his arm to make the deeper throw to the guy running up the sideline. I think it would have been safer and smarter to strike as the guy was crossing midfield, right as he was passing behind the ref. JT O'Sullivan (former Lions QB whose analyzing here) called it borderline dangerous in the video. I don't know, the defender jumped for the ball, which was clearly placed over his head by Pickett, and the throwing window wasn't really that tight sans the defender jumping at it. I've seen Pickett start getting compared to Joe Burrow given his rise up the boards this season, but Burrow had a completion % that was a full 10 points better than Pickett has now. Granted, Burrow had Chase, Jefferson, and Marshall Jr. to throw the ball to. Pickett has from what I've seen, maybe one possible NFL-caliber wideout, where Burrow had three first round picks.

  21. I finally sat down and watch a Pitt game Saturday night and watched some Kenny Pickett highlights. I still don't know what to make of the guy as to whether or not he is a 1st round, much less a top 10, draft prospect. PFN: Kenny Pickett Scouting Report
  22. Michigan State is the second Pete from Pete & Pete, the little brother of the show. This is it though for Harbaugh, win and look good doing it and you'll start to rebuild trust among the fan base that wanted you axed, lose and we'll just keep calling for your head. I think Michigan needs to find a way to open up this offense because I don't think they can bully ball their way through the game with running the ball down State's throat. They are going to have to find a way to attack down the field and open up the playbook a little bit. Gattis is going to have to put some wrinkles in his play calls otherwise State is going to stack the box and stop Michigan. I think they are just going to have to place confidence and trust in Cade and let him go downfield more often.
  23. Start your morning off with a bad Lions joke . . . Q: What do you call 3 straight completions by Jared Goff? A: 3rd & 2
  24. I thought Campbell and Glenn coached a solid game overall. Good coaching beeped keep them in this game. I mocked Stafford once on a post that Goff had to bean to a Super Bowl and he hadn't. Yeeeeeaaaahhhhh, can I have that one back? This guy is like playing NFL Blitz and watching the announcer yell "He got picked off" over and over again. I don't know if there is a video game glitch or just a general lack of talent that made him a turnover machine.
  25. Are we feeling more confident that they could be the Eagles given the fight we saw today against the Rams?
