I do NOT think the Tigers are hoping for an injury, but the "risk" of losing Miggy to a WBC injury (that is, no risk at all) made waiving the insurance requirement an easy call. His knee won't last past mid-June.

the Tigers certainly do not deserve the benefit of doubt when it comes to talent identification and development, especially on the position player side. Law would probably deny this matters, but it totally understandable that that plays a part in how organization is viewed externally, even if it is not "fair" to current prospects.

I remain hopeful that something can be done. There are millions of young people affected just by lock down drills, not even considering actual events. It may take another decade, but perhaps my future grandchildren will look at those drills they way I thought of "duck and cover" drills, a weird thing, way in the past.
