  1. the lack of power means he has to do a lot of other things to be impactful - he has the skills
  2. no idea what the Cubs want. Soto is an obvious start as the Cubs have 2 LHPs on their 40 man roster; Wentz?; do they want Lange back? young pitching is always an asset. but Madrigal plays 2b and that's blocked for the Cubs. He is coming off an injury, so that going to be a calculated risk that he can come back. take away his speed and you have a problem.
  3. he's on his honeymoon; where do think it is?
  4. madness. I guess "there are no bad one year deals" - that should now be "there are no bad 2 year deals" 6.5M base with 3.0M incentives possible; so his 2022 season could earn him ... a raise!
  5. ugh. a guy who could play 3 OF slots and be a backstop for Tork if he struggles. would have fit. But, I think any player should look at going to GABP for a bounceback year. tiny park. made Drury huge coin.
  6. he was also touted as elite defender at 2b; with shift limitations, that may be more impactful; seems like a faster version of Polanco
  7. appears that incoming GOP congressman is a fraud and secretly a heterosexual
  8. couple of names to consider in trades that no one asked for: Baty - would cost a ton; long term piece hopefully Madrigal - zero power, but may have bat to ball skills Harris wants Josh Smith and Ezekiel Duran - blocked in Texas; Smith (LH) is wasted in LF Victor Robles - just 25, elite RH CF defender w/2 years of control left, would pair nicely with Greene (transitioning to a corner) and Parker Meadows (in 2024) Nolan Gorman - may K too much for Harris, but miscast as 2b Oswaldo Cabrera (SH) - miscast as OF Dominic Canzone - 3rd string LH 1b/OF in Arizona Eguy Rasario - blocked in SD, but a RH bat Vidal Brujan - over hyped prospect who has shown zero power/production in small samples; Metzler would have insights
  9. crazy trying to predict what Mets will do. dumping McCann saved just a little bit of money. Are Escobar and and Carrasco really getting moved? dumping Ruf (3M) and Voglebach (just 1.5M) seem to be better choices. keeping EE, a SH who can play 2b and 3b and DH is better baseball choice IMO. Baty is still Harris's best target; will cost a lot; some combo of Soto, Lange, Manning, Olson, Madden, Wentz
  10. Mendick hit LHP well last year
  11. makes sense for Os when you have SH catcher; McCann can start 40-50 times a year when facing LHP (which he has hit very well against some years); allows Adley to DH and not get worn down; would not be surprised if he puts up over 1.0 WAR each year; a bargain for 2.5M
  12. McCann to Baltimore; Os pick up $5M
  13. no doubt. giants found yaz and wade this way
  14. Feliciano is just part of the churn; as was Madris; neither of them will be on the 40
  15. if the cost of Devers was 10/300 the Red Sox would have already signed him; you are about 4 years and 100M short
  16. I found this interesting. We have ben talking about if Comerica appeals to pitchers and might turn off batters in free agency. For Lorenzen, the answer appears to be yes. Needs to be a balance, and overly simplistic, but if so they should be more focused on position players in the system, and more focused on pitching in free agency. Playing at spacious Comerica Park will help. “That was one of Scott’s selling points,” Lorenzen said. “We’re hoping those three-run homers stay in this year. That’s a big deal. Nice and cold. Big ballpark. Doesn’t sound fun for hitters, so I want to be a part of it.”
  17. Cohen seems to be the advocate the players association needed. FYI, Cohen's purchase was only approved 25-4 (needed 22) According to SNY's Andy Martino, those four owners who opposed Cohen's ownership were Jerry Reinsdorf of the Chicago White Sox (who had been previously publicized as being against Cohen's ownership); Arte Moreno of the Los Angeles Angels; Bob Castellini of the Cincinnati Reds; and Ken Kendrick of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
  18. so Correa flunked himself to take less money?
  19. with one more move, Cohen will run a 2023 payroll + tax that will clear $0.5B!!! Literally no idea if he cares about any savings when the dollars are this big. But with Correa at 3B, Brett Baty might be more available. He could be a long term piece as a LH slugging 3B; same age as Tork
  20. Correa to Giants on hold due to medical issue; hoping for some drama!
  21. Malloy seems pretty straight-forward - if he continues to hit, they will find a place for him in the line up Maurico or Vientos are high risk guys, with huge variance in outcomes. just looking now, and I see Kevin Parada went one pick before Jung. no way can he stick at catcher, but hit tool was awesome. at $12M McCann is probably being paid 3X what the open market would pay him. pissing away $50M+ on Miggy, McCan and Schoop does not inspire much excitement
  22. sounds like a calculated risk
  23. that $24M will actually cost the Mets $45.6M total ($22.8M per year). I know Cohen is loaded but that's a lot to pay for McCann! I would ask for a lot more than mid-level prospect; and offer the Mets something actually useful, like Foley or Faedo.
  24. Lorenzen signed; 40 man roster full, so Clemens, Short, Ibanez and Madris would be next on chopping block when another deal made
