  1. This. 100% this. Don’t reward the team breaking the rules.
  2. They do they just don’t play him much.
  3. I’m sorry. I just let that get through the filter. My bad.
  4. If he had that would have been really stupid, right? Or would it be 3d chess for the genius? No matter what let’s pretend it wouldn’t help! At least we will have draft picks to use to trade up in the draft to draft a player we barely play. The need to use hyperbole to negate any argument that goes counter to what the infallible Brad Holmes does is cult like. It’s ok to question people who are good at their job. And questioning decisions doesn’t equate to wanting to replace them.
  5. LaPorta being out for the season is a pretty big deal. He can block and in the safety blanket.
  6. Personally, my favorite part of Danielson’s first goal was how absolutely thrilled ASP was. You’d think he’d scored the way he was acting. That’s was super cool to me. Oh, and Finnie went and got the puck.
  7. Honestly they seemed to be locking it down. I don’t remember anything overly scary. They covered this on the broadcast a few times. McClellan has even said this a few times since the Sabers meltdown.
  8. The Giants DL is actually better than the Eagles. This could be trickier than it looks on paper.
  9. Ya-Sin is was more stoic than I would be in his shoes. I’d be telling anyone who would listen that the ref is clearly making prop bets. Lions’ Rock Ya-Sin on PI: A.J. Brown is an All-Pro, sometimes those players get the calls “A.J. Brown, really good player, All-Pro player, sometimes those kinds of players get those kinds of calls. It is what it is. I’ve got to do a better job,” Ya-Sin said. Asked if the officials gave him an explanation of why he was penalized, Ya-Sin answered, “I didn’t ask for one. I let them do their job, I try to do my job. It is what it is.”
  10. See, that’s what I mean. Make that legal too. It’s up to the offense to figure out how to complete a pass when the receiver is being obstructed. On the flip side the offense offenses will be a lot more picks, but since the defender can just run through them they won’t be as effective. It’ll look like a completely different game, but the people it would affect the most are the cowards like Mahomes who use the difficulty officiating DPI to their advantage. I’m still livid about yesterday. Doesn’t help I was already ranting about BS 3rd down DPI bailouts. Let’s get crazy! I’d also be down with making a forward pass illegal from outside the hash marks. 5/10 yard penalty and loss of down. No more fire drill. No sliding. You want to run? Ok. You are a runner now. Good luck. You get outside the hash you are going to get lit up unless you can get to the sideline. With that last rule I’d eliminate intentional grounding. From inside the hash marks you can throw the ball away in any fashion. Outside the hash marks is already covered by illegal forward pass.
  11. Wait until Quick learns about morning skates. He’s going to be so mad.
  12. I’m not sure of that. I think they will ebb and flow a little. As long as they can find valuable players in later rounds (and don’t miss in the 1st) they will be competitive. I think Ben Johnson was more important than some believe. I think he knew how to maximize Goff. They need to find the next Johnson this offseason. And they need to figure out how to adjust to injuries.
  13. You were screaming into the void here! I wondered where you went.
  14. No. That won’t fix it. It needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. My suggestion would be to allow hand-fighting and all contact. Treat it like holding. I’m sure it will just result in another set of issues, lord knows they can’t seem to call holding consistently against some offenses so there’s no reason to believe they will call it consistently against the favored defenses.
  15. I was at the Vikings game. You could see Sewell was playing hurt. I think it’s the kind of thing the camera don’t always pick up, but he was on the ground in pain several times. He’d just get up quickly, but you could tell he’s fighting through injuries. Ratledge too. He actually went to the locker room for a series. We all know about Decker’s injuries. I think the OLine is just beat up and thin. There is no real depth (even Manu is hurt, though he played terribly)
  16. The thing I worry about Campbell calling plays is that there is no one to jump in and change the tone. This is possibly true for all head coaches that call plays. Campbell is at his best when he’s pulling levers to in the background. I think he’s got to spend too much time thinking about the next play to look at the bigger picture. Doesn’t mean he can’t be successful. Just means that when things are going poorly it’s harder for him to make a big change.
  17. Goff was in the process of getting sliced in half. I don’t think he had a chance to survey the field. If we could have given him an extra second he probably would have seen it.
  18. What if the Lions have to play the Eagles on the road in the playoffs? The worry isn’t that they lost. It’s how overmatched they looked on offense when it wasn’t Gibbs or Jamo with the ball (and then not leaning into that). This game and the Vikings games were concerning. They exposed a huge issue with the Lions offense. The kind of issues that good teams are going to exploit. The goal isn’t to have a winning record with this team, it’s to try to make the Super Bowl. The OLine is a problem. Between injuries and zero depth they are in bad shape. There is no one coming to save them. They have to roll with what they have. The Lions have to figure this out, ASAP.
  19. Honestly, most QBs facing that kind of pressure will struggle. That’s why pass rushers make so much money. They can change the outcome of a game.
  20. Think they needed a better OL plan than Colon. Not really anything they can do now.
  21. Ok, I’m ready now. This needs fixing. It’s not just about the Lions. It changes the outcome of games.
  22. If there were ever a time to create a turnover. It’s now.
