  1. What happened really is no different than the 12 second dancing around. Caleb took 26 seconds to line up and snap the ball and then ran a different play than the one called that took longer than 6 seconds. Look at how many stupid mistakes Williams had to make to blow this game. It’s actually wild then he’s not being lambasted. The level of incompetence is staggering.
  2. If the Lions were in the same situation and Dan called timeout at 10 seconds y’all would be livid. If he called the timeout any time before 3rd at all y’all would be pissed. Luckily the Lions are coached well and have a QB who doesn’t think he owns the team and will run the play called. So we would have completed a pass to St Brown or LaPorta for 12 yards and called timeout with 3 seconds left.
  3. Which is why they didn’t want or need to call a timeout before the 3rd down play. With the timeout in their pocket the whole field is in play, with none Detroit guards sidelines and the end zone.
  4. As said, if they had 2 timeouts, sure. They didn’t.
  5. Calling the timeout at 32 seconds means Detroit will call a timeout after the 3rd down play if it’s not incomplete and have 20+ seconds to get into field goal range. That’s terrible clock management. Calling that timeout at 20 seconds is actually a viable option, but if you let it run to 20 your plan is clearly to run it down and use the timeout after 3rd down. There was no warning sign at 20 seconds that Caleb was going rogue. I’m so confused why we can use hindsight to bury the coach. If Caleb and looked at him and said F your play then yeah, Eberflus should have called timeout. That’s not what happened.
  6. i guess they decided that there were people moving at the snap rather than moving when set.
  7. This is completely crazy.
  8. Three now.
  9. That’s an option. I believe that Caleb getting sacked, throwing the ball over the middle, or running around for 12 seconds and screwing them over Is no less likely than him taking 30 seconds for one play.
  10. They were outside his FG kickers’s range, or at the outer edge at best apparently. How was Eferblus going to know Williams was about to screw him over? Even at 6 seconds there was still plenty of time for 10 yards and a timeout. So the entire time the clock was running Eferblus was screwed and his best option was stick to the plan. If he calls timeout anywhere in the area of 10 seconds then they only get a guaranteed shot at the FG if they kick on 3rd down. If they try to run a short out in 3rd we already know that Williams will just audible to a bomb and you get the exact same ending. I still can’t believe Williams dropped back and held the ball. Honestly, Efeblus is better off in the long run getting out of Chicago. In hindsight the timeout at 30 seconds was was his only alternative. No matter what the Bears did on 3rd down not much clock would roll as the Lions would absolutely call a timeout. That means the Lions would have 20-ish seconds to get into FG range for the win in the event the Bears make their FG. The Bears coaching staff had a solid plan to get the clock bled out AND in better field goal position. There is exactly one person who **** that bed. Why do so many people give Williams a pass?
  11. I know you are loyal as a USC fan, but he admitted to changing the play. When everyone else is on the same page you have to lay blame on the one guy who goes off script. It’s ok that Caleb doesn’t understand how to manage the clock. That’s not his job. His job is to get the snap off around 10-15 seconds and pick up 10 yards. That’s it. The coaches will handle the timeouts. He took the game into his own hands and made multiple stupid decisions. His football skills might have gotten them into position to compete, but clearly not his ability to strategize. If he had stuck to what he’s good at they might have taken the game to OT. Either way Eferblus was toast for his entire body of work. Good luck to the next head coach who has to deal with this guy.
  12. “Williams said that once he got the call and everyone was lined up, he made an adjustment as he watched the clock wind down. In his view, if a catch was completed inbounds, the team wouldn’t have had enough time to set up for a potential game-tying field goal.” https://www.mlive.com/lions/2024/11/bears-coach-qb-defend-clock-management-in-loss-to-lions.html He’s out of his mind. There was plenty of time.
  13. Campbell is such a great coach “Campbell was asked about how tough it is to deal with so many injuries to one unit.” … “Does it really matter? Like who cares,” Campbell said. “I go back to, man, it doesn’t matter. If it is or it isn’t or we get a guy back or we don’t get a guy back. Worrying about it and moaning about it and (expletive) about it, it’s like calls, right? It’s like the call. It’s like Vildor (defensive pass interference). I could sit there and throw a fit about it. But what does it matter? It’s called. It’s done. “I know this. Whoever we have available, we’re going to get them ready to play. And we expect them to hold the line. Period. You got to do your job. And everybody around you is looking for you to do your job.” https://www.mlive.com/lions/2024/11/lions-dealing-with-handful-of-defensive-injuries-most-concern-for-lbs-ankle.html
  14. Everything looked fine though until about 10 seconds left, then everyone watching started to get a wtf vibe. There is no way Eferblus knew his QB was going to screw him over like that at 30 seconds, at 20 seconds, or even at 15 seconds. He figured it out at about the same time the rest of the world did. I just don’t see any way calling the last timeout makes any sense in the moment with 30 seconds left, or later like under 10 seconds when it dawned on him his QB was going rogue, With hindsight, sure. We all now know Caleb Williams was planning on screwing his head coach over completely. But at the time even when the idiot finally snapped the ball there was still time to pull off the plan. Eferblus is a terrible coach and has a million reasons to be fired. Today isn’t really one of them.
  15. This is probably because their coach cares more about fashion than football.
  16. This is exactly it. He’s a complete moron. The coaches had a plan and this idiot said, F-that I have a really really stupid idea. The coaches plan was a super long FG, but given their position on 3rd down it was all they really had. Who would have guessed that the right tackle was going to take 2nd down off? This is on Caleb 97%, right tackle 1%, Eberflus 1%, and the side judge 1% for that truly ridiculous pass interference call.
  17. Caleb Williams is a little b***h Caleb Williams on Jack Campbell’s hit to his left knee: “I didn’t really appreciate the play” Then don’t try to fake going out of bounds for a few extra yards.
  18. He’s right though. Calling the timeout would have taken away the guarantee at 2 more plays*. I mean we are all assuming that Caleb wouldn’t take a sack on 3rd down after running around for all 20-ish seconds. That’s no more stupid or improbable than snapping the ball with 6 seconds left and then throwing a deep ball to burn all the clock. * they didn’t get 2 plays simply because of mass ineptitude. Eberfleptitude?
  19. I’m not excusing the stupidity of it all. Just trying to understand what the hell I just saw. I don’t think anyone should let Caleb off the hook for a huge mistake. He had the guy with a step so if he delivered that pass on target it would have been a big time highlight. It was just stupid.
  20. To clear out. Kmet ran a short out at the top of the screen. I never saw who was in the middle from the bottom of the screen.
  21. It was 3rd and 24. They weren’t getting another first down. The idea is to get 10 yards or so to get back into range and then call timeout. Worst case you get an incompletion and use the last second or 2 for the Hail Mary. The Bears knew they had 2 more plays*. So the second is either a FG attempt or a Hail Mary. They don’t want to leave Detroit 20 seconds for a final possession after the assumed made FG. * they only got one play because Caleb decided to take away the FG option by going for the win.
  22. I think they were as surprised as everyone else that Caleb made such a moronic decision. Who here would have ever guessed that sequence was going to happen? It’s inexplicable.
