I do find it ironic that Harris and Walz are considered the "Youth Movement". They are about the same age as Barack Obama who served two terms and has been out of office 8 years. Love the Harris/Walz ticket. But I also think we have to learn our lesson. In 8 years, Whitmer will be 60. Many of the young up and comers won't still be. It is amazing what the Democrats have pulled off in the past few weeks. I like the deep bench, but also not a bad idea to keep the farm system filled with actual young people.

Ha, I don't get if this is a joke I'm not getting or if I should actually explain?

The Harris/Walz ticket will be hell for the apostrophe impaired.

You also have to factor in that Hillary was extremely unlikable and always has been. Heard her speaking at Sheila Jackson's funeral, and it was like nails on a chalkboard. No, not sexist, just reality. Public speaking is not her forte. Most of us cringed having to vote for her and only did so because we knew what a threat Trump was. Throw in the general distaste for the Clintons, the Bernie factor and the very likely possibility that there was election interference, and there you have it. It's a shame Beau died when he did or we might have had 2 Biden terms and Trump would be looking for his latest grift or tv show. Agree also that the Democrats just have to hammer points ad nauseum. Whether it's weird, creepy, chaos. Whatever it is. Pick something, and don't let up. While it'd be nice if anyone actually cared about the issues, it's all about buzzwords and catch phrases. They got Biden out of the race with obsessing about his age,(hopefully they'll regret getting what they wished for) and yet, crickets from MSM or the Democrats on Trump's age and his obvious cognitive decline. Disappointed also that we're not seeing more "Get out the Vote" campaigns that we seemed to see a great deal of in 2020.

This isn't by happenstance. It's by design. It's the playbook. It's so my one sister is more outraged that her Hallmark Movies and House Hunters have been ruined by the gay and black couples that losing healthcare or democracy or them shaming her about being a single childless cat lady doesn't matter. Or the other one who is staunchly pro life, but is okay with Trump wanting Mike Pence murdered or little illegals drowning in barbed wire at the border. God will judge Trump so she doesn't have to. So long as the illegals don't get free ****, she can sleep well at night. Once you dehumanize others and paint them as the enemy, the rest is easy.

Wasn't this one of Trump's campaign focuses, that on Day 1, He'd call Vlad and the hostages would be home?

It seems so stupid, but incredibly plausible for Trump. Just like he doesn't know the difference between political asylum and an insane asylum. I was also just reading some online speculation that he may have in the moment confused the Vice President with Nikki Haley in regards to thinking she was always Indian. So, the slut shaming didn't stick, or the laugh or she's a crazy woman, but hey, let's try this she doesn't know what race she is. That's totally going to get us the black vote!

Seems like the VP made quite a bit of difference on January 6th. Thankfully, he didn't get in that car.
-
Unfortunately, I think his dopey demeanor sometimes works in his favor. How bad can someone that stupid be? It's also attractive to the, um, less intelligent part of his base because he's "just like me!", not one of those elite intellectuals! Nothing makes my day more than Trump being laughed at. He genuinely thinks he's smart, suave, handsome and well respected. He seethes when he's laughed at. I'd like to think the media will make this the headlining story it should be, but I know better.

It gets worse. Until the debate, the Democrats were smart enough to try and limit Biden to what he did best, planned speeches and personal interactions. Who really thought Trump would kill it at the NABJ? Trump had a lead and just had to hold serve. They've let the other team back in the game. I'm shocked the transition from Biden to Harris has gone so smoothly and how utterly unprepared the Trump camp was for this. I thought the debate was the fatal blow. But I felt like the Dems weren't smart enough to pull off the switch. Amazed how united they are and how quickly she's been accepted and how the narrative has changed so quickly. They've whiffed on so many softballs in the past. Had the shooter been an "illegal immigrant" or a Muslim or an African American, it would have been the dagger. Thankfully, it was the typical white kid with MAGA tendencies and the story disappeared quickly.

Okay, so there's no good choices. Kamala was appointed, nobody voted for her. Plus, she laughs! What about Hunter Biden? I paid for my student loans, why should we give handouts to everyone? You just won't respect anyone else's opinion. So much hate from you.

Who's your candidate? Who is more qualified than the VP, former Senator and Prosecutor? I know you're just trolling and not interested in serious conversation, but, humor me.

Amazing of all the things that can be said about them, racist, liars, cheaters, sexual predators, and the thing that's resonating is weird. Go figure.

I didn't say I wasn't sympathetic. It goes without saying. But I kind of feel like this is how we got here. Obviously one can be glad that a child survived a medical scare 8 years ago and still talk about the ramifications of the election. Both can be true.

With all due respect, "all this stuff" literally effects all the day to day.
-
100% this. I often hear, just don't talk politics or religion and that I should respect others' opinions. To me, it's just about being a decent human being. There aren't both sides to it. Though I couldn't see how anyone voted for him in 2016, I get the anti Hillary camp and the well, Trump is the outsider businessman thing. But now?? It's depressing and exhausting trying to pretend and explain that it's all just a little difference of opinion. I find myself distancing myself from Trump supporters and gravitating more to those that aren't. I often text Liz Cheney's quote to people who think there's nothing wrong with overlooking what Trump is. "I say this to my Republican colleagues who are defending the indefensible: There will come a day when Donald Trump is gone, but your dishonor will remain.

🤣 Thanks for reminding me of more stupid excuses I get from family...I was totally undecided, reviewing the issues...but putting Kamala on the ballot! Well, that's just a bridge too far. How dare they!! I mean, yeah, the lies, the racism, saying the disabled should just die, cheating on his wife, sexual assault, wanting to kill Mike Pence. So Trump is not perfect, but this!?!?
-
Hooray! There's still some sane people left in the world. Dealing with the dumb****ery of the Trump era is exhausting. I literally took an early retirement because having the listen to highly trained medical professionals say things like masks don't work, the jab, did he die with Covid or from Covid? Then being the black sheep liberal atheist in a family of supposed religious people. Ugh. Ironically one is a single cat lady, another had to conceive her children through IVF, another has a disabled child, one had serious mental health issues and one has post Covid complications (from before the vaccine even came out, but it's the vaccine that caused it) When asked about why they still vote for Trump despite him being against everything Jesus preaches and life issues, it seems to the the "handouts". Those illegals! Paying off student loans! The welfare moms! Mind you, all the siblings could easily pay double, triple or more in taxes and never miss it. But damnit, they WORKED for it! (Spoiler alert, we were all born on third base, but I'm the only one that realizes that) Why should they pay for those slackers!?! Thankfully, I married a sane person and we had normal children. Ha. But thank you MTS for being the eye in the ****storm of stupidity. I'm saving Romad's post.

Sheesh, I said it was interesting, not some be all, end all defining stat. Mostly for those of us, myself included, who felt like all the signings was just more of the same. Or as Valenti said, up until the DeBrincat trade, the other signings didn't get the blood flowing to the nether regions. It was also from July 4th, so the trade hadn't yet been made which is why Kubalik and DeBrincant were not included. Carry on with the over analysis.

Departed skaters Bertuzzi, Hronek, Vrana, Erne, Suter, Oesterle, Hagg, Zadina & Sundqvist combined for 50 goals and -40 for Red Wings last season. Skaters acquired Compher, Sprong, Gostibehere, Holl & Kostin combined for 63 goals and +43 in ‘22-23. Interesting tidbit from Pat Caputo.

Sorry for doubting you, Steve...Mr. Yzerman, sir.

Not sure if anyone else caught the interview with Larkin at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, but when asked about the upcoming season he said something to the effect that the Wings need to bring in "talent". He wasn't shy last season about the Bertuzzi trade and how it took the wind of out the sails of the team when they felt they were close to getting into the playoff hunt. Why sign the guy for 8 years and hang him out to dry? Is he going to hang around another 2-3 years just to make the playoffs? I feel like DeBrincat would get them to the floor and actually improve the team.

Reimer, Lyon and Holl. Can't contain my excitement.
