Unpacking the lions defense it’s obvious what needs to change: get more turnovers, tackle better and tighten up in the red zone. Lions have forced only 12 turnovers, only the panthers, titans, rams and patriots have forced fewer. The lions allow 68.6% of trips to the red zone to end in a touchdown, only the bears and panthers are worse. Opposing teams have gotten 27 first downs by penalty against the lions, most in the league. Lions have the 5th most missed tackles. So here is where it gets surprising. The lions hurry percentage is 11%, which is actually tops in the NFL, but have only 23 sacks, which ranks near the bottom (26th). They blitz at a middle of the pack rate. The lions just can’t get home. Even getting the pressure they do it’s it causing turnovers or sacks. When they get an opportunity to make play they aren’t making it. And then they take penalties to keep drives going for opposing teams. I just don’t know that I expect anything to change.

Same with the packers too. Packers can also get to 11 wins. Looking at their schedule, I see GB losing this week to KC to go to 5-7 and then winning their last 5 to finish 10-7.

Omg bears. This is such a large indictment on the lions too. They couldn’t stop this bears offense. An offense that can’t throw the ball more than 1 yard. Yet aaron Glenn gets to keep his job.

Are they serious with these wide receiver screens? For the love of god.

And the Vikings lead. Hockenson, of course. 4 ints for Dobbs and the bears trail. It makes you even more upset with how the lions defense played watching just how bad Justin fields is.

How did this offense by the whats dominate the lions?

These flags are something else. It’s amazing how many bad 3rd down flags exist in this league. Horrible call on the opposite side of the field. These refs have been painfully one sided tonight in favor of the Vikings.

These play calls are cringe man. WR screens over and over. I just don’t understand what the bears are trying to accomplish on offense.

I’ve never seen a pass catcher that so often comes up just short of the first down. For years he has done it. Where he catches it, he is tackledX and his route is always short.

Vikings offense doing nothing. They got for it on 4th and 7 from midfield. Hockenson, wait for it, was just short.

What a dreadful throw on that 3rd down by Fields. Moore was wide open. Missed him by 4 yards. This is bad football all around.

How did Fields get up from that hit?

Dobbs crashing back down to earth. Edit: to add, this could be expected. The first couple of games there was such a limited playbook and Dobbs was just free flowing. Once the system sets him and he has to be a pocket passer and the defense can script it a bit more you can see Dobbs struggling. There is a reason he has been with so many teams.
