  1. Time for bullpen roulette.
  2. well given the choices we have, I'm not sure it's definitive either way.
  3. Items 2 and 3 are bad news:
  4. The Mize injury underscores another issue with this season. How much will we know about the 'core' by the end of the season. Guys are either hurt or have been exiled to Toledo.
  5. Mize headed to the DL with a hamstring strain. That’s the reason that Montero was scratched in Toledo. Matt manning is a distant memory.
  6. The options at Toledo are Englert, Wingenter, et al...so yeah. Another problem is that every other guy in the bullpen has had a disastrous outing within the past few weeks(aside from maybe Foley). So it's a bunch of bad choices.
  7. That guy can't pitch another inning for this team. I know we have no answers for hitting but DFA him tonight...he has nothing.
  8. Get Miller off this team.
  9. If Harris, Greenberg, and Garko had an answer, we wouldn't be in this situation.
  10. The tigers pivoted into a hitting developmental org specifically at the time when hitting is way down in mlb overall and no young hitters are doing anything. But if this exposes flaws in their minor league development and pro coaching staff, that’s good. It’s not just about throwing young hitters to the wolves. If you aren’t giving these guys solutions to their problems, it’s a pointless exercise.
  11. The game results don’t sting as much for me. This team still needs a ton of work to be competitive in the long term. We should learn a lesson if they have a fake September win streak.
  12. Looks like Meadows will be back in the Minnesota series...for whatever it's worth.
  13. Let's go 5 innings without a baserunner instead of six.
  14. Feckless is a good word to describe this product.
  15. The offense had one baserunner after they tied it with the two walks….so it doesn’t matter. They weren’t going to score again.
  16. Shelby Miller in leverage….either gives up the lead or the tie.
  17. We're getting close to DFA Maeda time.
  18. That's the crux of the re-rebuild. How do you fill that gap? I'm not even accounting for the fact that every single hitter we have brought up has been historically bad. I would hope a few of them pop.
  19. That's what the money is for. Because of development failures, we are in year 2 of a young hitter evaluation program. If this evaluation phase doesn't work, what is the pivot? Do we double down and add more young guys next year? trades? I don't see free agency as a viable option because most players who get there are over the hill.
  20. I don't mind letting young players fail; But right now it creates a dead mlb product. And I know Harris doesn't necessarily care about results because young players are getting reps. But we are essentially running a development camp in the majors, and nobody is showing improvement. I want to know how many years we have to endure a tryout camp. If it's perpetual, that's fine but we also need to see that he's able to figure out who can play and who can't. The default can't be to give a young guy a shot because free agency or trades or big contracts have risks.
  21. From Chris Brown on twitter: Games scoring 1 or 0 runs in 2024: White Sox - 25 Marlins - 23 Tigers - 23 Rockies - 19 5 Tied at 17 . . . Orioles - 8 Guardians - 7 Phillies - 5
  22. Daniel had a 5.33 ERA in 14 starts with Triple-A Salt Lake before Thursday's game against the Tigers. "The thing he did is just attack the strike zone," Hinch said. "He beat us inside the strike zone with a lot of strikes, a lot of count leverage and a lot of swings that weren't on time. He continued to be relentless with strikes because it was working for him. He was getting outs." "He beat us in the strike zone," Hinch said. "Plain and simple." I did not see the video but he seems like he’s about to lose his marbles lol.
  23. 2 hours and five minutes..no need to make fans suffer any longer.
