  1. The defense kept them in the game. Vierling showed some tremendous range.
  2. Meadows hit well in ST...goes both ways.
  3. Avila likely rushed him to the majors in 2022..That's his fault and a feckless owner who put him in charge of a rebuild. But we do have to reach a certain baseline for him to be considered a core piece.
  4. Barring a rainout for Minny, Pablo Lopez vs Skubal on Thursday afternoon.
  5. Those guys have skills beyond hitting. I would take Greene off the list. He's been fine imo. Rogers and Meadows are currently a problem.
  6. The months count and he ended up with a .758 OPS. He had a horrible March April, Good May, Mid June/July, and killed it in August/September. Why are we repeating March/April of 2023? We have no choice but to patient. They need him to be good.
  7. Can't replace every hitter in the lineup..but Rogers is a one outcome guy right now.
  8. Last year's stats are just ok. And it was only two months of prolific hitting.
  9. He doesn't have any defensive value or speed. His only value is the hit tool. I would expect an .820 OPS at the minimum or he is replaceable. The issue I have is he doesn't make consistent contact when the power stroke disappears. You aren't getting the consistent production. Greene and Meadows have some defensive value, speed on the bases, tools...Rogers is a good framer and defensive catcher. Tork has none of that.
  10. Tigers managment did not expect that. They put out a development team with a few low risk vets. Low risk is the how they operate. If they contend, it's a bonus. They want to operate like Milwaukee, Cleveland, Tampa, etc. The young players have to perform....you aren't getting help elswhere.
  11. 3 straight mid to terrible starting pitching performances..3 non-competitive games. The team's success still relies on good run prevention.
  12. Tork's problem is nothing in between his hot stretches and abymsal stretches. He doesn't make enough contact in between hitting homers. It's a homer, double with nobody on base, popout, or strikeout.
  13. There was some logic behind bringing Olson up. He didn't give up as much hard contact. He'll get 3-4 more starts at least.
  14. Manning will be back shortly.
  15. Ibanez is injured.
  16. Which would be strange given the fact that they wanted to test all of these young guys in the majors. Every single beat writer and podcast said that the arrow on Meadows was pointing up. It is only 9 games; His speed and defense are a plus but he certainly cannot hit this poorly for much longer.
  17. speculation on Parker Meadows getting sent down. That would be a bit quick right?
  18. I don't want to hear about holding open spots for JHM and Jung when the young guys you already have aren't consistent. You add reasonably priced vets to up the floor of the team. Then you sort out which young guys are good, and the ones who suck.
  19. last few years...two horrible games turns in to an 8 game losing streak. Let's see if they've improved enought to stem the tide..split against the Pirates and come back home.
  20. We are back to games where just avoiding the shutout is the goal..not great.
