I’m not in panic mode. This team is awful and the current gm created the issue. He has never built a winning org on his own and I see no evidence to let him try again.
More Hinch: "This is unacceptable. We are better than this. We have not lived up to the standard that we expect.
"We're all accountable -- players, coaches, manager, front office, everybody -- because it's been below par."
At some point, Avila's tenure becomes untenable. I'll allow some forgiveness for injuries. But his player dev system has produced nothing substantial in the field. And it looks like they'll need at least a few more years to cycle out the older vets who haven't produced this year.
You'll need a nimble exec who can make some interesting baseball trades and find value to get more talent. Avila has had ample time to do anything aside from paint by numbers. I don't think he's capable of fixing his own mess.
The owner shows no credibility if he allows Al to level set the org after he's the one who put us here. He was given a clean slate and they have made very little progress.
The problem with watching this offensive disaster:
-The veterans they have on hand to guide the young players look disinterested or unable to change their approach.
-Tork has not shown yet that he give us some hope for the future.
Vets doing nothing and the young players doing nothing does not give the fanbase any reason to hope that things will turn around in the next few years.
