  1. Skubesday folks.
  2. https://theathletic.com/3350347/2022/06/06/tigers-elvin-rodriguez-tipping-pitches/
  3. We need to see who will be on this team in 2024 when they could be halfway decent.
  4. Every reliever should be on the block if the Tigers can get a decent prospect. They need as many lottery tickets as possible.
  5. Seager has a w/RC+ of 149 Story is at 121 Both guys are slugging over .450. Baez would be fine if he was making more hard contact. Maybe today is a good first step....although the Yankees starter couldn't attack him with a slider.
  6. We will know more on Tuesday....I'd expect multiple roster changes before the Pittsburgh series starts. It's time to start cutting the dead weight.
  7. The Yankees are excellent. The tigers offense and defense has been bad enough this season for me to believe that they won’t put anything together beyond a few good weeks.
  8. This season is lost IMO…but even if I buy that some reversion to mean is coming, you are relying on guys like Candy, schoop, grossman, and maybe meadows. They don’t have a viable long term catcher. It would unreasonable to expect them to buy 3 legit core players in free agency…and the farm system isn’t necessarily equipped to make value trades for position players. I don’t see how this is built into a consistent contender anytime soon.
  9. Bringing up the starting outfield is a step up to a below average team vs being completely awful. But this was a 77 win team if everything went right. The rebuild isn’t over, it’s just beginning.
  10. Candelario leaves the game with an injury.
  11. Hinch is trying to get through 3 days at a time with the injuries and lack of performance. They can't possibly think that Willi will hit over the season. They're just trying to find a few weeks of decent contact. This is survival instinct.
  12. I would guess we are nearing the end of the Eric Haase era....below .500 OPS guys who have no defensive value should be gone ASAP.
  13. The Willi Castro thing is a micro issue that stems from gigantic macro problems within the organization. Trust me, they wouldn't play him this much or out of position if they didn't have to.
  14. Baez May/June splits: 35K, 2BB, 18-120, 230 slug, .432 OPS.
  15. Willi is going to play in the outfield until the rest of the lineup makes him unnecessary. I don't blame him or Hinch. It's the other guys who are paid well and doing nothing.
  16. Willi Castro wouldn't be playing if their entire infield all had OPS below .600 aside from Tork. They only reason he's playing is that when he occasionally makes contact, sometimes it's a basehit. That's how bad this has been. And Meadows and Grossman have 0 combined homers on June 5th!!!! this is insanity even given their injuries. Hinch hasn't done a good job but this is a systemic failure.
  17. Build an actual roster with good mlb players. And you can carry Cameron and Hill in the outfield if your entire infield didn't have worst in the offense numbers. Every single position. Castro is a better hitter than both of those guys so he gives you something even if he can't play defense. You are focusing on Cameron and Hill's defense when this is one of the worst offenses in mlb within the past 10 years.
  18. Game was under 3 hours...very nice.
  19. Pitching Harold.
  20. Play Cameron or Hill in center. You can put Willi in either corner in that park. But they were going to get smashed either way. 6 perfect innings. This lineup is beyond pathetic.
  21. Brieske and Rony are pitching the next two days. This series was going to be a disaster for pitching either way.
  22. This should be Erod Jr's last start.
  23. Would guess Greene's issues are conditioning primarily. He hasn't played baseball in two months.
  24. The other options are Hill and Cameron right? RH hitters who can't hit.
