I don't think they should punt on the year. Moving Tork off 1B is not a move I would endorse even if it would mean immediate improvement. You just have to ride out the struggles of certain offensive players until it turns around.
They're lucky to be 6-9 with how bad the offense been.
We've already seen how much relying on pitching can be problematic. They haven't held up.
And I don't see it with this lineup at all. It will get better but won't be better than average.
But I don't view this as a contending season. I think they are at least a year away. So any moves made should be positioning the team to be good in '23 and 24.
Tork will never play another game at 3rd. You have to think about him in 2-3 years. It would hinder his development and he's more important than Candelario having a terrible month.
AJ Hinch was asked if there was a lack of energy today "no we got beat, we didn't play well. Nothing about energy, there's no excuse, there's no letdown, this is a major league team across the way, we need to show up better to win a series"
Pitching rotation next week:
Minnesota: ERod, Pineda, Skubal
LA: Alexander or Brieske on Friday/Saturday...they are not sure of the order; Erod Sunday.
Mize and Manning both headed to Lakeland to continue their pitching program. This means that manning will be out longer than expected. We already know that Mize is out awhile.
Brieske will start either Friday or Saturday is Los Angeles.
Unless something changes, Javy Baez will be activated tomorrow. That should hopefully lessen the amount of playing time for the Castros. Willi will go down if Javy is ready.
Brieske is the exact prospect the Tigers have needed. Profiles as an end of the rotation starter...could be more if he commands his fastball.
Send him down after tonight he can work out the kinks.
