  1. KCP and Brown have been perfect for that team. Two of my favorite players from Piston teams full of unlikeable players.
  2. Love watching KD crash and burn after forcing his way to the team of his choice even though he was responsible for the trash situation in Brooklyn. Either Monte or Ayton (or both) are gone before next season. Also Denver is so fun to watch. Joker is just masterful and should’ve been MVP again.
  3. Weaver won’t spend his money on free agents. He’ll do some sort of trade for most of that cap space. He seems to dislike free agency and despises restricted free agents.
  4. Not seeing a lot of Chris Quinn love in these coaching interviews. Wondering if he told everyone to bugger off because he's going to get the Heat job eventually. That would at least make me feel better about us not having him in the mix.
  5. I'm GenX, but we were always the latchkey, forgotten generation anyway. It's always Boomers vs Millenials/GenZ these days, like we never existed. I suppose it's a good thing to be left out of all the arguments and finger pointing 😄 But yea, I think if you said "can't jump over a phonebook" to a Gen Z they would look at you with a very confused expression on their face.
  6. Interesting that Reddick is now in the coaching mix for a head coaching job. Has he ever been an assistant or coached at any level? Becky's name gets tossed around a lot on Pistons Reddit, but the name I'm disappointed I haven't heard is Chris Quinn. Then again, Miami is the type of organization to deny access until after the playoffs and maybe the Pistons didn't want to wait until then.
  7. It's something my friends and I used to say about Corliss Williamson when he was a Piston. Maybe it needs to be updated for the next generation but, "can't jump over a cellphone" just seems a bit extreme 😄
  8. Celtics just don't look right. All those people who said, "Look what Mazulla is doing, maybe it's just a good team and Ime wasn't all that" are rethinking that now. He's had some pretty terrible coaching sequences in these playoffs.
  9. Calling someone an athletic Bey is like saying a shooting Hami. You're now talking about a completely different player. Also, Bridges was 20 when drafted and played 2 years in college, compared to 18 for Cam so I expect that he would be more polished. As for defense, he showed the mental lapses of youth, but most analysts project Cam's defense and multi-positional versality on that end to be very good. Also, I don't see how you can say "it's all projection with this guy" and then turn around and say you'd take the twins over him. Those two are the most projection based picks in this entire lottery and it's not even close. If you want to plant your flag on upside and projections because of sheer athleticism, then I can understand (and still disagree) with that take. But Whitmore is far less of a projection pick and it's not even close. He has a solid floor that he displayed against actual competition and they have a resume of pick up games. Again, I only see high end role players after Victor, so I'm not projecting any of these kids as Stars. And yes, at some point you have to take a chance on the twins athleticism and hope they aren't just Hami after the hefty 4+ years of development it's going to take, but for me that's down around pick 7-10, not top 5 where we'll be picking.
  10. The twins are playing against high school age players in a gimmick league that's no different than a pickup game. They're 20 years old to Whitmore's 18, meaning they've had 2 more years of development and still they're not just poor shooters, they're non-shooters. Most of their points come in transition and they need the ball in their hands because it's all about their athleticism against garbage competition. Fun as his dunks can be, I don't need another Hami. I'm taking Whitmore over either twin. He'll still give you some fantastic dunks, but he can also play bully-ball, guard multiple positions, shoot the three, grab boards, and he's shown all of that against solid competition. The Saddiq comparison is terrible. Saddiq can't jump over a phonebook and can't finish at the rim where Whitmore was one of the best finishers in college and is a very good athlete. Better comps I've seen are Miles Bridges, Aaron Gordon, and Anthony Edwards due to the combination of power and athleticism.
  11. Excellent finisher Very good off ball player and cutter Catch and shoot 40% from 3 Good driver Nice multi-positional defensive upside due to high strength and athleticism Very good rebounder Younger than most of the other prospects https://youtu.be/2DOM_ROCxUA Outside of Wemby all I see in this draft lotto are high impact role players rather than all stars. So I’m not saying this kid is a future star, just that he’s in the conversation at 4 or 5.
  12. Claxton is a good call. Definitely deserving.
  13. I'm not buying Mobley over Bam on first team, but I guess this was done before Mobley got exposed in the playoffs and Miami showed out. Honestly, my Mobley stock is down overall. I see him as a high-end role player, not the superstar people were labelling him as in his rookie year. More of a Serge Ibaka than a Chris Bosh. His flaws are well hidden by having elite scorers in the backcourt and an All-Star center next to him, allowing him to roam and just fill in the blanks rather than lead responsibilities on either end.
  14. Cam has been moving up my board and the twins have been moving down it.
  15. I watched it. Not hurt. Just a bad player who takes a lot of bad shots and doesn't play defense.
  16. I'm with you on Hendricks. I have him in my top 5. I'd love #1 because having Victor would be fun. Who knows how long a guy like that can stay healthy, but he'd be great to watch paired with Cade, Ivey, and Duren for as long as his feet last. As for #2, I'd be looking to trade it. We're sitting here talking about guys who can't shoot and here's one who can't shoot and doesn't have any size. I don't need the second coming of Eric Bledsoe next to Cade and Ivey.
  17. The words "Marc Stein" and "reporting" shouldn't be in the same sentence.
  18. Weaver seemed almost offended when a reporter asked him if he'd wait until after the lotto to see what pick they got to attract a coach. Basically, if they don't want to be here before we get a good pick then he doesn't want them here after we get a good pick. I can respect that mindset.
  19. The reality is we have no idea how any of these assistants will perform as head coaches, so we could all be wrong. That said, based upon resume alone, Ollie is the candidate I want least. No NBA coaching experience other than 1 year as an assistant in OKC. Overtime Elite is an absolute joke. Try to watch an OTE game and make it through the whole thing...I dare you. His claim to fame is doing something every other college team does, but being dumb enough to get caught. Also, I'm not sold on taking either of the twins in this draft based upon their OTE pickup games against garbage competition, and if Ollie is the head coach you can pretty much book it outside of landing the #1 pick. The reason the Coach Bud stuff might matter for us is not because we'll hire him (he's this eras equivalent of Flip Saunders...no thanks). It's because Charles Lee might be a candidate for the Bucks which would take him off the table.
  20. It's not the number of the pick, it's what you do with it... Eh, whatever, I'll still take the #1 overall pick if I can get it.
  21. Stew has way more shooting upside than Looney, but I hear ya on the toughness and offensive rebounding. I know they're listed as 6'8" and 6'9" but Looney just looks like he has more than 1" on Stew. My guess is Stew is closer to 6'7" or even 6'6" (like Grant Williams) and Looney is 6'9" and some change. Stew just gets outmatched on the glass compared to Looney, though I suppose we have no idea what Stew will look like on the boards years from now when he's Looney's age.
  22. He turned them from an up and coming team that people want to root for into a laughing stock that people hate. Yeah, Ja helped with his off-court garbage, but Brooks took it to another level. Add that to the fact that the flashes of offense he showed occasionally last year have fizzled into nothing, and I'm not surprised they want to cut ties with that head case.
  23. I'm fine with Wiseman as a backup Center (for now). Maybe he turns into your 3rd string if he can't figure it out, but he also has the athletic tools to be solid backup Center in the league if he improves - he's played less games than Duren, so there's time. Something else to ponder is how much of this goes on Casey. History has shown us that Casey didn't coach shot selection at all. Bey was traded because he was a ball hog who just wanted to chuck inefficient shots, but you gotta wonder how he went 2 years without a coach telling him what shots he should be taking. I doubt Casey told Wiseman to quit trying to post up on every possession. A real coach could solve that issue. Stew belongs at PF because he's bottom of the league at finishing in the paint on offense and also not a great defensive rebounder due to his size. Where he could be highly valuable is if he can learn to hit the three ball reliably during the regular season and play some small ball Center to match up with other teams in the playoffs. Grant Williams really is the best comparison for where Stew's game needs to go to become a valuable player on a contender.
  24. He has Andre Drummond disease - no self awareness whatsoever. Kid thinks he should be a star and shoot on every play even though he's terrible at every type of shot.
  25. The numbers on him are crazy. Top of the league in post touches, which he demands on every play. Bottom of the league in point per possession in the post. I truly hope they were just testing some things out and trying to lose games. Duren should be the starting Center alongside a versatile PF who can spread the court and defend (that person isn't on the team right now). Stew can be the backup Grant Williams type of player if he continues to develop. Let Wiseman be the backup Center this year and see how he develops. Find a vet who doesn't require playing time to be your 3rd Center and move Bagley..
