  1. Since we’ve been talking about overrated players, it’s time to give a shout out to JJJ. Absolute trash in this series.
  2. Refs thought they were helping the Warriors by keeping Sabonis on the bench with fouls. Wrong. Game 7 incoming.
  3. Everyone talks about Cleveland as one of the blueprints for the Piston's desire to go with a 2-big lineup, but that strategy killed Mitchell and Garland in the playoffs because they had absolutely no spacing. Watching them try to get to the bucket against a collapsed NYK defense was painful. Neither of their bigs nor Okoro are respected on the perimeter so the Knicks were free to just live in the paint on defense and cut off all driving lanes. Same thing will happen to Cade and Ivey next year if Weaver is married to this 2-big idea. Watching Ivey try to find space in the lane when we were starting Bagley and Wiseman was so painful.
  4. To be fair, losing Herro probably improved their defense by a good margin.
  5. I've heard that these are the leaders of the pack from the second-tier interviews they did, but that they are considering/doing another first-tier round of interviews as well. After that comes the in-person interview round. Then again, JEIII kept saying "finalists" before correcting himself to "frontrunners". So, all the rest may just be smoke and these may truly be the finalists. Quinn was my first pick, but it doesn't sound like he's in the mix. I was leaning towards Lee after that, but I'm not a huge fan of the Bud coaching tree, so I may be leaning more towards Collins now since he was the defensive coordinator for GS during those championship years when they were always a top 5 defense in the league. <-- nope, I was wrong, it was in 2019 and 2020. Also because I'd love to see some ball and people movement in our offense like GS. The Bucks take turns going one-on-one and just have one of the best one-on-one players in the league. Don't really love the coach Bud offense.
  6. My guess is Chris Quinn is next on the list, so I doubt he leaves Miami.
  7. Also, I need to issue an apology. I was wrong about Brunson.
  8. Too bad we’re closer to hiring the guy from the Budenholzer tree rather than the guy from the Spoelstra tree.
  9. Miami is just going to play harder than you. Period.
  10. Sabonis is so overrated.
  11. Brooks is Westbrook level dumb. Terrible shooter with no qualms about taking threes with 16 left on the shot clock. Just throwing away possessions like Drummond in the post.
  12. Mitchell Robinson has outplayed both Mobley and Allen
  13. When you have the maturity of an infant but the strength of a world class athlete people are going to get hurt in the wake of your temper tantrums.
  14. I did prefer the 5 game 1st round series which leaves more room for upsets, but the NBA wants more cash. However, I have to disagree about the excitement of the first round. I've watched nearly every game so far and there have been some outstanding individual games, even in the heavily favored series. Maybe they don't all translate into series wins, but the games themselves have been excellent. There's nothing the NBA can do about injuries, but the Clippers could very well have beaten the Suns with Kawhi, not to mention Paul George. Atlanta, Minnesota, and Brooklyn might have been foregone conclusions, but there have been some phenomenal games in those series and who knows what happens in ATL for the next contest. Most people would've said Miami was going to get swept, but look at that series. If all that matters to you is who's going to win the series, then sure, just check the scoreboard the next day and most likely the higher seed will take the series in the end, but if you actually like to see competitive basketball games this first round has been a ton of fun.
  15. JEIII has said for a while now that Stewart will be with the Pistons for a long, long time. He's "a Weaver guy" and the "heart and soul" of the team. I'm cool with that as long as that doesn't mean "starter". I like Stew as a Grant Williams type of PF off the bench who plays tough defense, hits the three (in progress), and can play small-ball switchable Center in the playoffs. And if he's as important to the locker room as reports would indicate, then that's cool too. That said, his presence shouldn't stop us from getting a legitimate starter at the PF spot (when we don't get Victor). If it does, that's a problem.
  16. That tells you he's not making first team all-rookie even though he should over Mathurin. Problem is, people created the narrative around Math by week 8 of the season when he came out strong before falling off a cliff. Nobody watched the Pistons after Cade went down to see Ivey continue to get better and surpass Math as the season progressed.
  17. The Atlanta win was impressive but Boston just threw that game away with dumb play after dumb play in the 4th. Now the pressure's on to win in ATL to prevent a game 7 and prevent Embiid from getting any more rest. The fact that LAC cut it to 2 late in the 4th before Russ decided to go 1 on 3 and miss the game tying layup was also impressive. West-Brick was terrible all night and yet it was still a 2 point game in the 4th. Maybe it was just the matchup, but if I'm the Suns I'd be concerned that LAC took these games to the wire with Leonard and George watching from the bench.
  18. Also, it's only been around for a few years, but this could be the first time a play-in team advances.
  19. Makes me sad. Really wanted to see them take down the Warriors.
  20. Agreed. This is the danger of going all-in too soon. They mortgaged their future to get Gobert and now they're stuck with this mediocre team unless they can find someone dumb enough to buy Gobert or KAT for pennies on the dollar.
  21. Too bad he shouldn't have even been in the game after getting an early Technical and then screaming in opposing player's faces twice to taunt them after making a play. Of course, the refs didn't want to give him another tech, so he got away with it as usual.
  22. Too bad the score wasn't because of good defense. These teams were just throwing up brick after brick from three. It was not fun to watch.
  23. He tried to kick those balls so hard he sprained his knee I guess.
  24. Kinda annoyed that Chris Quinn isn't on the list, but I suppose it's possible he said, "no thanks, I'm taking over for Spo in a couple years."
  25. My "not so sure anymore" wasn't directly about last night's game, but more about whether or not Draymond is actually overrated and worth the headache anymore. His defense isn't what it used to be and his assists are mostly a product of the system while the rest of his stats are just mediocre to bad (30% from three). Last night Looney and DiVincenzo had 9 and 8 assists respectively. Whoever handles the middle of the action is going to get assists because he's passing it to Steph or Klay coming off a screen.
