  1. Did you expect more? This offseason is about what I expected, they weren't adding a savior. Maybe they could have sin-ate more but would you want to blow up your cap space for the next several years and slow the offense to a crawil to get a 1st for Lavine? Not me. It's been said many times, the Pistons fate will largely lie with this core. They'll need to supplement the core with a better supporting cast eventually but these are the guys the Pistons are riding with. If you look at most of the contenders in recent years, they're mostly driven by their drafted players and then trades were made to bring in strong support players once they started contending.
  2. I'm shocked. I wonder what the PA thinks about this. Cade is getting substantially more than Brunson which is just plain wrong.
  3. That has to be fake news, there's no way Brunson is taking THAT big of a discount especially after being vastly underpaid under his current deal. The NBAPA would have a fit if he signed for that cheap.
  4. Enjoyed the presser, Bickerstaff had a good energy and went into details about the players and certain strategies. Monty didn't seem to know much about the team and he went on about how the money was too good to pass up, it doesn't mean much if Bickerstaff can't coach but it was a good first impression at least. Late comment on the Reed signing. I really like it, the Pistons badly needed another big and this one actually plays defense and is young enough to maybe have a little more offensive upside.
  5. It's an ok deal, no issue with the price, but these two guys are the new Bogey and Burks. They'll get some buckets from time to time but they'll give just as much back defensively if not more. They're fine but these are roster filler players, it's nothing to be celebrated IMO. Not criticizing Langdon necessarily because he got dealt a really bad hand into one of the worst situations in the league but these are Weaver type moves tbh.
  6. Hilarious. Two pros who can't play a lick of defense and he sin-ate one of those contracts to get a bunch of meh 2nds and had to give up a promising young player to help Dallas sign other guys. The Fontecchio contract was his first good move of the offseason. The other stuff is a bunch of nothing, but I didn't expect much this offseason anyway so it is what it is. The team goes as this core goes.
  7. I couldn't wait until Burks was off the team and I had a few months reprieve until they added two Burks this offseason. The Beasley deal screams of Langdon signing somebody just for the sake of signing somebody, it's roster filler so fine I guess. The Fontecchio contract is nice, a player that can shoot and also play some defense unlike the two Burks they added.
  8. He was only signing with a contender, every insider stated that so it's not just my speculation. The Pistons had no chance at him
  9. Ok and KCP is signing here why? And KCP is signing here for that cheap why? Come on Buddha, you know very well why the Pistons have no shot at guys like KCP and have to settle for scraps. If Harris didn't have deep ties to Michigan he's not coming to Detroit either. This is probably the worst job in the league for a GM, one of the worst even in good times because not only is it an undesirable market it's not a basketball market either and now it's a market with a long losing tradition so it's a tough sell for players to come here. The only real ways to improve are drafting and developing or trade of players who don't have no trade clauses. I'm not advocating for the Harris signing btw, just stating the reality of the situation. The Pistons need to get to the cap floor so this is how they did it. Harris isn't a nothing player, he can provide a little scoring like Bogey so.... yeah, there we go. It's....something.
  10. The Pistons are a mess steeped deep in **** and not just players but also from the executive level on down. It's going to take a long time to clear out the stink, moves like THJ and Harris are nothingburger stopgaps like Bogey and Burks, probably the same with Bickerstaff as well fine for this stage of the rebuild but likely won't be here when the team is competing. Like I said before, the fate of the future of this franchise will largely lie at the feet of the young core. Who that young core will be going forward will be fleshed out over the next few years but as of now the roster is a bunch of **** being thrown against the wall seeing what sticks. Nothing they could have reasonably done this offseason would have changed that.
  11. Harris is the most meh signing I can think of. If you look up average in the dictionary, you see Tobias Harris's picture but average would be an upgrade so it's....something. The team is going to live or die with its youth, these THJ and Harris additions are merely background noise like the Burks and Bogey additions.
  12. The three 2nds are fine, Hardaway is fine. I'd have no problem with the trade and would actually kinda like it if it was just the three 2nd+Hardaway just like the Hornets did with Reggie Jackson, Hardaway might be a bit better currently but he's also has a significantly bigger salary. There really was no reason to include Grimes, it's like Langdon just threw Grimes in there for the hell of it because...eww it's a Troy Weaver player so lets just give him outta here similar to what Weaver did with Bruce Brown. Like I said before, the comparable was right there for Langdon to point at in the negotiation, a trade that happened two days before so it should have been an easy negotiation to do Dallas a pretty big favor.
  13. But they are already losing Grimes for nothing, actually they lost him for a negative asset. I look at it this way. Keeping Grimes was a no risk, modest reward situation. The potential reward is that he looks more like the version of 2-3 years ago and the Pistons have a nice young 3&D player to put into the rotation and you give him a nice little contract at the end of the season because all you have is cap space. On the other hand, if he continues to struggle shooting and/or is damaged goods unable to get healthy then you let him go for nothing just like they did today. There's no downside to seeing it though with him but there is some potential upside. In terms of roster clutter, I'm assuming that some of that will be fleshed out anyway with the new guy wanting his players inserted into the lineup and a guy like Klintman is likely nowhere near an NBA lineup next season so I don't think there would have been a problem fitting in Grimes for an evaluation year. Langdon moved an asset for a contract dump, it's kind of crazy when you think about it.
  14. Giving up Grimes in this deal makes zero sense. I mean, the comparable was lined right up for Langdon. Three 2nds to take on Reggie Jackson who made less than half of what Hardaway is making. Should have been simple. This reeks of Weaver dumping Bruce Brown simply because he was from the old regime.
  15. I don't get it. Are you agreeing with me lol
  16. Biden is a lot older than Reagan was. I'm too young to remember much about Regan's mannerisms but in the here and now you can see how much Biden has declined the last 4 years and at his age the decline usually accelerates. It's hard to watch every time he speaks. In this critical time in our country, it's not very reassuring that our choices for commander in chief is either an old man who is declining rapidly or an old man who is a blabbering, narcissistic loon. Scary times
  17. I usually don't comment on politics but I find it amazing that we can't find better candidates in a country of over 330m than two very old guys one of whom can't answer a simple question directly because he's too busy filibustering and mud slinging the other guy and the other whom can't even form a coherent enough sentence to answer a question directly. Not to mention all the "you're the worst, no YOU'RE the worst" stuff without coming up with actual solutions for how they plan on improving on the failed regime of his opponent. Scary and especially in Biden's case, his quick decline is very concerning already so how is he going to handle 4 more years?
  18. I don't get the trade for Minnesota (like a worse version of the Plumlee trade) but...we'll take it. At least with 37, it's a little something to watch for.
  19. I see this sentiment a lot online but the Pistons obviously felt like he wouldn't be there at 9 and/or they were getting weak offers from Memphis. Charlotte was a prime trade down partner too and didn't pull the trigger so that's telling.
  20. I don't get the Holland pick but this draft blows chunks, even the top 2 picks have major question marks, so I don't feel like the Pistons missed out on anybody. I was expecting Buzelis and got Holland, meh whatever. The real work begins starting with free agency anyway.
  21. Nice thoughts Betrayer and a whole lot of sin-eating haha but I like the idea. I'll keep mine fairly simple. I'm trading down in this draft with hopeful future draft assets included assuming that Clingan is the guy teams are coveting. I wouldn't trade Ivey or Duren yet, I'd like to see them under a new (hopefully competent) coach before shipping them out plus I'm not sure how much value either one has currently. Don't trade Cade under any circumstance. It's stupid to even suggest. Add two way vets, no more of the Bogeys and Burks of the world who have no idea about the defensive end. I'd also target players that might be due for a breakout or on an upward trend, Naji Marshall although he's not that young anymore. Tyus Jones although not that young either. More guys like Fontecchio who aren't that expensive to acquire but have potential to flourish with more opportunity, Grimes was also a good gamble.
  22. Yeah, I mainly meant Harper who was the best player in that game. Bailey didn't shoot well but I really liked his overall game. I could see some guys really threatening Flagg for the top spot, I don't see him as the lock to go there that some seem to think he is (Flagg sweepstakes etc.) hence which is why I brought up Wemby who was the clear cut #1.
  23. I always laugh at these people talking about "entering a draft sweepstakes" as if tanking is beneficial anymore. Yeah you get the best odds by a slight bit but as well know all too well, that doesn't mean jack. Also, I wasn't impressed by Flagg in that one showcase game I saw of him as opposed to Wemby who immediately looked like a stud. I was more impressed by the future Rutgers duo but....small sample size and all.
  24. I get that but how is the roster getting sorted out? They have Hart, DiVincenzo, OG, Bridges, Randle at the 2-4 all clear starting level players. A good problem to have I suppose but that seems like a lot of chefs in the kitchen.
  25. I like Bridges but that's quite a haul of unprotected 1sts for him. Regardless, it's a good idea for the Knicks to go all in, I wonder how this effects OG's status there.
