  1. Disagree. The Lions have nobody with Chark's size and speed combo that can catch 50/50 balls, Jamo doesn't supply that. Without Chark, the Lions have a #1 in Amon Ra but still more of a slot guy, a question mark in Jamo and a few #3/4 guys. They need Chark or at least somebody to replace his production/presence. I wouldn't overpay Chark (I'd give him the Meyers contract at max) but he'd need to be replaced with a drafted WR most likely.
  2. I get the feeling that most Lions fans like the signing but were also attached to Williams so more conflicted than anything. On the field, he's a better player so taking the emotional attachment away I don't see how this is anything but a positive. I know that 2nd contracts to RBs can be problematic but this is a fairly low risk contract, 6m/yr for arguably a top 10 RB that is durable and 25 years old is fine value.
  3. I think that would be the smart move. Obviously Swift isn't getting the 2nd contract now (which we kind of knew already anyway) so might as well get a little value out of him and take the cheap contract rookie.
  4. This is a tough one for me. I think Montgomery is the better player and the much younger player as well but damn I loved Jamaal the person and culture fit. Probably good from a football standpoint but from a fan feeling standpoint, it kind of sucks.
  5. I think we'll see Harris only in nickel packages so it's likely we see both on the field at times. Could see Harris lineup outside at times.
  6. Moseley is arguably better than Sutton when healthy, he's not competing for playing time. The only issue is that he might not start the season due to injury recovery (tore his ACL last October) but this is one of the top corners on the market had he not gotten injured.
  7. A+ on that Cominsky deal, sort of cancels out the Anzalone slight overpay. Moseley is a terrific get too assuming that he's healthy. If they can get Jamaal back on a reasonable deal, this is an A free agency.
  8. It's amazing how many people fall for fake twitter accounts. The fun one yesterday was Jakobi Meyers signing for 5 years $87m or something like that and people running with it. He signed for 3 years $33m today which makes a lot more sense.
  9. I believe it. Been saying it for a while, Miller is the #3 in this draft and I could see a few teams liking him more than Scoot because he fits the modern NBA archetype with size and shooting (not to mention the improved shot creation) more than a shortish PG with a questionable outside shot. Not to say that Miller is the better prospect but I could see a case for at least a discussion between the two to be had by some.
  10. Jamaal? I don't see that anywhere
  11. The chances of Wagner signing in Detroit were always slim or none. The Lions don't have the cache to pull in a high end vet right now.
  12. Holmes doesn't put a lot of value into LB so I doubt they take one early in the draft and I'm ok with it. Keeping building those lines and a playmaker for the offense assuming that Chark walks.
  13. Not a huge fan of the Anzalone deal but he was quite good the second half of last season (which some folks seem to be forgetting) so if he carries that into next season, I won't have a problem with this deal. Need to see the full structure of the contact before final judgment, the guaranteed money in particular.
  14. This is the only and correct answer.
  15. Interesting. I wonder if this takes them out of the market for a QB at 7, might hurt potential trade down options.
  16. Big fan of this signing because I like the player and because now they don't have to feel the need to take corner at 6. I'm pleasantly surprised that Holmes splurged today.
  17. I think Cominsky is worth twice as much as Buggs which is why I think he could very well go somewhere else, there will be a pretty stout market for him.
  18. Very different players, I don't think signing Buggs has much effect on Cominsky re-signing. Glad to have Buggs back, nice cheap deal too.
  19. For sure, I wasn't implying that they don't want to spend or that they don't recognize the window. I just think they stick to a long term plan and primarily build through homegrown growth and free agents that are hungry to prove their worth. I also think that having these extra high picks this year will lessen the urgency to splurge in free agency due to having more shots to find starters in the draft. I will say though that I'm a bit surprised that they were in on Ramsey so perhaps this indicates that they might go bigger in free agency. We'll find out soon either way.
  20. Why does this surprise you? Everything that Holmes and co. have done and said in their tenure indicates that the Lions won't be big spenders in free agency and won't chase big names via trade. You'd figure that maybe that strategy might change a bit now that expectations are rising but I don't think the Lions are a player or two away from Superbowl contention so I don't see them going big game hunting quite yet.
  21. It seems like these trades into the top 5 tend to happen well before the draft. Happened twice two years ago with the San Francisco and Miami trades. I also remember the RGIII and Goff trades happening well before the draft way back when. In any event, this is probably good for the Lions because it enhances the chance of 4 QBs going top 5 depending on what Seattle does and one of Anderson and Carter dropping to 6 although I don't see the Lions taking Carter. I thought the Bears would get at least two 1sts in addition to dropping that far to 9 but they did get two 2nds and I'm sure they value Moore pretty highly so it seems fair.
  22. Yeah, it's all about the off the court stuff with Miller. If all his off the court issues check out then I think he's pretty clearly the #3 player in this draft and fits seamlessly into what the Pistons need.
  23. I think Chark is gone regardless. He's somewhat of a luxury player and I don't see Holmes splurging on a luxury. I also think the WR market is playing out in Chark's favor, somebody will pay him more than he's worth. I don't think a 32 year old Thielen changes the WR market much, supply of quality receivers is very thin.
  24. That's fine. This draft is a Big 3 as far as I'm concerned and Miller is a far better fit for the Pistons than Scoot anyway and I think he has a higher floor. It gets a little dicey after Miller but the Thompson twins (Ausar in particular), Walker and Whitmore are good fits for the Pistons. The positive of this draft is that the top prospects are almost all wings which is the biggest need so they're in a good spot.
  25. I don't think anybody doubts that Lamar has more upside than Goff. I mean... DUH, but there's also far more risk with Lamar and the risk of paying two 1sts and $20m/yr more for the next two seasons isn't worth it. The upside is enticing though but I think continuing to build a TEAM, a team that is building chemistry with Goff is the way to build this thing. I will say that acquiring Lamar would juice up this market like nothing we've seen since ??? I don't know if that would lead to more wins but it sure would generate a crapload of excitement.
