  1. We heard quite a few red flags about Greene’s defense when he was drafted. 🤪.
  2. Dingler 2/4 with a HR and 3 RBI also. Overall it has been a very promising year for a number of our bats. Definitely nice to see Meadows up to a .736 ops after struggling so much at the start of his promotion.
  3. So because they didn't in 2 seasons with Cade, Bey, Stewart and Killian, they aren't going to ever do it? Of those, the only potential one would have been Killian, but even he was starting his rookie year and getting the playing time. Maybe Stewart at the start of his rookie year? But he was getting consistent time pretty early as well. I don't think you can judge what they will do with Duren just because they didn't do it the last 2 years with those 4 who got consistent playing time basically from the start.
  4. Wasn’t the issue his $28 mil cap hold that may have delayed at least one of the Knicks deals?
  5. I do not believe so. I think they needed an OF and were able to get one with multiple years of control and a solid track record if they gave up Paredes and most people on this board and outside of it were amazed Paredes was all it took. They had Schoop and Candelario projected to be at least around league average offensively and controlled this year and next. It seemed like a no-brainer and I would have made the trade 100 times out of 100. (And I always liked Paredes potential)
  6. I liked Paredes more than it appeared most did in prior years, but there were not many who thought a straight up trade of Meadows for Paredes was a poor deal. We had a need for an OF, we got one with proven production who is still under control and it took Paredes to get him who was still an unknown and no one could have honestly predicted Schoop and Candy hitting as awful as they have so far. I have zero issue with the trade itself. Now why Paredes didn't get more of an opportunity in 2021 when guys like Goodrum and Harold did and Willi now? That I don't understand.
  7. I think the organization still wants Willi and Clemens to either be on the bench in Detroit or get consistent work in Toledo as well including in the OF (Willi seems like it may be permanent). It would be nice if Grossman hits enough to be moved or they could do a minor deal with one of the extra guys. I tend to think Robson may be in jeopardy of being released or at least relegated to 6th OF in Toledo. It's kinda sad since he was the one that talked to Carpenter about changing his swing and referred him to his coach. Odds are Carpenter doesn't materialize, but stranger things have happened - see JD Martinez, Jose Bautista, Chris Taylor - and when a guy is doing what he is after an adjustment, you would like to see him have every chance to show something is truly different.
  8. There is currently a logjam at Toledo, but it doesn't appear he is gaining much by staying at Erie. It will be interesting to see what happens with the organization likely wanting Meadows, Greene, Grossman, Cameron, Hill, Baddoo, and Reyes all either in Detroit or getting consistent AB's in Toledo. Not to mention their seeming obsession with Willi playing OF as well as Clemens getting OF time. It definitely appears that minor trades/cuts would need to be made in order to keep guys getting the playing time needed.
  9. And he supposedly turned down offers to be a #2.
  10. to be fair, this is his 2nd season in high A.
  11. But you would never buy a house to rent for less than your mortgage/insurance/property taxes. Otherwise you have to have the extra $6K per year in cash and hope that the market didn't drop.
  12. And now Greene!
  13. LOL, they confused Bally too as when Harold came up, they had him listed at SS
  14. So the original lineup put out had the 2 switched.
  15. Well I'm not sure. It was the short stop and I thought Harold was playing Short based on the thread, but the MLB app says it's Willie
  16. It was actually Harold.
  17. And considering the rate to "buy" an expansion team is $2 billion, that should mean every one of those teams is actually worth at least $2 billion
  18. Or they finish 1st and 2nd and they get 2 picks 🤪
  19. I don't think it's as simple as this with the new CBA. If they think they are close to ready, even if their stats in the spring don't show it, I think they will start them in Detroit. If they struggle for a month, they will send them down. The benefit of potentially getting extra draft picks sways things. Add to that that they may not get the extra year of control even if they wait to bring them up, I think you will see teams err on the side of pushing a bit compared to before trying to get the extra control.
  20. Supposedly they were willing to give Adams the same deal but he wanted to leave. Be careful what you wish for.
  21. They wouldn’t have had Chubb. He was part of the trade package. Chubb, Top corner Ward, 3 number 1s and a number 2. It’s funny that there’s was the only trade package publicized and he didn’t pick them.
  22. They would only assume Watson’s current $35 mil base salary. They could restructure to a $1 mil base and $34 mil signing bonus which would spread the $34 mil over 3 years making his current hit at $12.33 mil (1 mil plus 11.33 mil from the bonus) that makes the next 2 years hit $11.33 mil higher but they can deal with it later.
  23. And the Saints are right at the cap. It shows that you can get creative if you need to. It pushes it back to later (which the Saints have done over and over) but it can be done.
  24. $2.5 mil with incentives could be a $1 mil base if he doesn't play.
