Yeah, he could also go down for Foley.
-
He actually had 4 plate appearances. He was 0-2 with 2 walks. You are correct that he was pinch hit for in the 9th
-
Change the word silly to “downright stupid “ and I agree 100 pct

When Clark first gets called up, it will almost guaranteed be either in late August/Early September (as to maintain rookie status) or on an opening day. They have shown they value the opportunity to earn the extra picks, both with Keith last year and Jobe this year.
-
Personally I agree. You would like to see at least a bit of production. Evidently he misses a ton of tackles. I'd be very cautious. However, if Holmes/Campbell believe his deficiencies are fixable and they believe he eats and breathes football, they have earned my trust and I'll be happy with the pick.
-
Thing is, Baddoo of late hasn't shown he can hit much better, and he has shown he is a much worse fielder. Kreidler will likely be the one to go down once Vierling is healthy.

My son and I were having the conversation about Keith and wondered if at this point in his career, he's someone who needs to have 1 position and focus on it. He became an average 2b by the end of last season. Then he spends the offseason working on playing a new position, learning new footwork, stretching, new reads, when to try and field the ball, and when he needs to get to first, etc. So almost all his mental prep is for that. Then all of a sudden, he's back to 2nd when he still hasn't gotten the position he was working on all off season down. For some players, no problem, they are back "home" to a position they are comfortable with. Keith may not be there yet. It doesn't mean a year or 2 down the road, he couldn't be effective at multiple positions, but in the very small sample size of approximately a week-10 days, he definitely doesn't look like he is. I too think the best for the team overall would be to go back to Keith at 2nd, Tork at 1b, and hopefully Torres is willing to go to 3rd (assuming what he said the reason for refusing to do it in NY is accurate). Then Keith can focus again on 2nd and hopefully get back quickly to where he ended the year last year.

$32 mil/year post arbitration according to the Athletic
-
I did see they restructured Raymond to save 1.55 mil on 2026 cap hit
-
Or at least charge the salary cap in future years for the amount not charged in the present value calculation. Example if Ohtani’s present value is 46 mil/yrover 10 years, charge the remaining 240 million to the cap over the years the deferrals are paid.
-
Right, it would seem present value of the bonus shouldn’t be spread out IMO, if deferrals will reduce it.
-
The thing I don’t like is that it doesn’t appear signing bonuses have any effect on current salary cap numbers. If deferrals reduce to present value why don’t signing bonuses add to it -Snell got a huge signing bonus but his salary cap number is reduced because of the deferrals

It does. I just wouldn’t be totally surprised if they thought 1/3 of the season was enough at WM. I doubt it, but it wouldn’t shock me. I think it’s most likely the ideal plan is a month/45 days in WM and the rest of season in Erie with a week or 2 in Toledo (unless Erie is in the playoffs). With 2026 spent in Toledo with late season call up (to retain rookie status).
-
Not to really argue, but they both were promoted July 21. So they spent 1/3 of the season there (even though McGonigle only played 14 games due to injury while Clark played 34). Clark did hit much better in his time there than McGonigle. I could see them both starting there and moving quickly to AA. I could also see both of them being pushed to Erie to start. I wouldn't be shocked to see both end up with a cup of coffee at Toledo by the end of the season. I do trust this staffs development, so wherever they start them, I'm good.

Santana just turned 21 in November. He has to pick up his contact skills and is probably running out of chances, but no reason to cut him this year unless they don’t see any hope.
-
And the Rays actually have a fairly strong TV market IIRC. Just low attendance which like you said isn’t as important in this era. But the low attendance is what everyone actually sees.

Cortizone for back tightness
-
It also quotes Hinch saying he may try Baez in center some. Perez is getting injections right now as well.

They did for a time. Don't remember how long. The White Sox did also prior to the Orioles. Edited to add. The Giants were first from 1924-1927. The Red Sox were in Sarasota from 1933-1959, the White Sox from 1960-1997 - with Ed Smith Stadium being built in 1989. The Reds were there from 1998-2009. The Orioles have been there since then.
-
He may be waiting Smith to check around and end up bringing him back for significantly less than the approx $11 mil in cap hit (spread over next 2 years) he would have cost for next year.

In the first twice last year and for Jamo.

I hate drafting guys in the first who have so little production. It definitely makes you question the work ethic-especially on a good line like he was. I know most of you don’t like Sawyer, but he has shown the production and by all reports is one of the hardest workers. I think he’d be a great fit opposite Hutch, both in the run and pass games.
-
Agree except for the easier to manage inning limits in MILB. i think that’s all the more reason to start in Detroit and piggy back him with Maeda for example. This coaching staff has shown the ability to be creative and can use it to their advantage like pitching chaos was last year. Keep Jove to 4-6 innings per week through mid-May then he can go into the normal rotation and be ok innings wise the rest of the season. Also gets him more familiar with facing MLB hitters.
-
He doesn’t have to win. He could be top 2 or less likely top 3 (I believe) cy young next year. And it doesn’t really matter if a team thinks there’s great odds, if someone is a top candidate-which Jobe is across the industry- you don’t forgo that chance when you have other options. Especially when you still lose the year of control if he does end up top 3. On the other side, it’s also why there is almost zero chance of a top 20 -50 prospect coming up in July/August of any season and losing their eligibility for the next season.

I honestly think it was a factor in Tork being on the opening day roster as a rookie as well and-he just should have been sent down when he was struggling.
