  1. 10% below league average? Hopefully we can lower that a tad more to middle of the pack instead of 9th worst as the young guys gain experience and add power. Granted that is only from the Tigers side of the equation. I also don't know how the Tigers home scheduled was when looking into who they played at home in 2023 vs 2024 as the opponents will factor into the number. So, too small a sample size at this point to draw a definitive conclusion at this point other than not the worst in the league. So,where does that leave us? TBD, but not worst in the league
  2. Granted it's a great chart and data but it doesn't address my comment that the fences were moved between the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The stats you show are for a three year period which means 2021-2023? The fences were moved in 2023 so your data is flawed in relation to my post whereas the morons at Oddshark or whoever they are have just 2023 HR stats. But, carryon.
  3. If that is the only way to score runs, sure. Also the team did move the fences in a bit last year. https://www.oddsshark.com/mlb/best-and-worst-ballparks-for-home-runs
  4. I understand and remember him as well. Keith has played at second, sure small sample size, however his coaching and development in Detroit is far superior to anything Sizemore had in his brief tenure in Detroit. I also like the Urshela signing. But, offense is most definitely the biggest question mark for this team.
  5. 1. This is normal for baseball not just Detroit. 2. I'm pretty sure the majority of the Tigers roster has played baseball in northern cities during the spring, doubt any will be suprised. Assuming this point was just a throw in negative point yet seems a reach. 3. Are we complaining that they didn't go and spend a bunch of money this offseason? I, for one, probably in the minority on this board, like the approach they took and didn't feel now was the time to spend big dollars. I do think Chris I will spend when Harris and Hinch ask him to do so. 4. Agree to a point, not really judging this team based on last years team or injuries. Good news is we seem to have SP depth in Toledo and Erie. Some quality depth. 5. BP will definitely play a big role as it usually does. I agree offense remains a question mark but I like the addition of Keith and the addition of Urshela. 6. Hinch isn't in any trouble good start or bad. I 100% agree that team needs a better start this spring.
  6. I think Avila drafted well his last couple of years and deserves some credit for that. Now did he have the infrastructure in place to rapidly improve the development process for his talent? No, however, a lot of that goes back to DD and Ilitch mandates and how far back the organization was in the newer approach to development. I remember going to the back fields when DD was here, early ST days, and not seeing any equipment on the field to measure things. It was noticeable to see these new gadgets on the field after DD was gone. But Avila was 20yrs behind the leaders in the movement and a decade behind the rest of MLB. Harris has taken what Avila started and excelerated the development process in all phases. Now, I realize it's early on and putting the cart in front of the horse. To be blunt, I had lost some of my Tiger passion the last couple of years. Didn't go to any Flying Tiger games for two years, partially because now Low A to be fair. Now, I'm back all in. I can't wait for each level to get started.
  7. Here is a link to the archived article for those who don't have a News subscription. Henning: New and improved 2024 Tigers are an Avila and Harris product
  8. Not a fan of the call at 2nd, if that is how the rule is going to be enforced not a fan.
  9. They already do, financially and on committees. Great school.
  10. I had a family member part of that legal process, some interesting stories there to put it mildly. Also have two family members heavily involved at UCF as alums.
  11. Almost as if the Lions knew something was going when they added two DB's in the last week.
  12. I can tell you when the police have contacted our family their number never comes up as unknown. I would be surprised if this is the case. While it appears he is definitely guilty of something let it play out before cutting him without the facts.
  13. TBH, I don't really have one at this point other than keep doing what they are doing. Developing and building their pitching at all levels Keep doing the same with their position players at the plate and on the field. Hold off on making moves til they have a better idea of who is what and how the division looks, don't be fooled by fools gold. Whether that is July of 24, winter of 24 or July of 25.
  14. You still post on Mlive?
  15. Good signing. Holmes continues to make moves to solidify the team and give him more options on draft day.
  16. Here is the article that discusses Olson and potential impact of super two status on the roster decision. From today's Freep Detroit Tigers 2024 Roster Prediction 4.o: Pitching competition is going down to the wire Full article at the link. Here is the section on Olson: Something to keep in mind: Olson has 123 days of service time after making his MLB debut in June 2023, whereas Mize has two years, 111 days and Manning has two years, 98 days. The Tigers don't have anything to gain by optioning Mize and Manning, but that's not the case with Olson. Olson is currently on the borderline for Super Two status if he stays on the major-league roster for each of the next two seasons, but if he gets optioned to Triple-A Toledo for a few weeks, he won't have any chance of qualifying for Super Two status, which is the difference between being eligible for salary arbitration three times or four times before entering free agency. The specific cutoff date for Super Two status varies on a year-to-year basis, but in recent history, the Super Two cutoff has been as high as two years, 128 days and as low as two years, 115 days.
  17. I think Olson goes down for a few different reasons, yet, as others have said, just a matter of time til he is pitching in Detroit. I am curious on what they do with Drew Anderson, guy has been impressive.
  18. Ian Rapoport @RapSheet Important note on the Justin Fields trade: At least four additional teams inquired about trading for Fields, but Fields’ representation asked for him not to be traded there. He wanted the #Steelers, and the #Bears did right by him.
  19. In that scenario I may have taken the OT that went to GB a pick later more than Verse. Not a huge fan of King but overall it attacks needs.
  20. HAHAHA, Mark G there is a name from the past. I forgot about him, thankfully, whether here or at Tigstown.
  21. All fair statements imo, not that it matters, lol. I will only say that the MLB field had lapped the Tigers in the technology department by 5, 10, 15 or more laps. It cannot be said enough just how far behind the Tigers were in analytics and technology under DD.
  22. I think Holmes is position, based on the signings this week to go in variety of directions. Personally, I hope OL. Either a guy who can play OG immediately or OG/C OG/T, guy who can backup Ragnow or Decker if need be.
  23. @1984Echoes Think I took that from the All good.
  24. For those on twitter this is a worthy follow, guy knows the cap and understands the nuances of it. He has been posting for years on the other board referenced recently. https://x.com/DeadStroke96/status/1768590372895158509?s=20 Edit: and obviously no clue how to post this here.
  25. That would stun me, 2026?, I think he plays more this season and a lot more in 2025. Reader is coming off the quad and I think you will see a heavy rotation on the DL as a whole. To trade up for a guy, give up multiple picks, take him in the third and don't see time until his contract year? You may be right but I think he earns the time and plays a lot in 2025. I'm looking forward to see what he has done this offseason body wise and then the new DL coach as well. Edit: or he is a complete bust and out by 2026
