  1. Exactly, every prospect is, in essence, a lottery ticket, you can't look at any one at a point in time and say this one sucks and this one is a future star. Do some have greater odds of reaching success? Sure, but all have a ceiling to be fruitful major leaguers. JD Martinez himself was once a lousy prospect. The game is to accumulate prospects that have traits that you believe your staff can develop and profile in line with organizational values, and are upgrades from whoever they will replace in the organization. Most aren't going to make it, but if you keep upgrading at every level, at every opportunity, that's how you build an organization.
  2. I felt better about this regime after the draft. That was how I always hoped Detroit would draft.
  3. Nooooooooooo!
  4. Stupid bull**** is entertaining?
  5. Why? You’re more likely to get a high ceiling guy if he’s further away. Tigers need stars and nobody is going to give you a major league ready star, you have to take a gamble.
  6. Aim higher
  7. If that’s true, then no one is trading any kind of top prospect for him.
  8. There’s little point in creating a hole to fill a hole.
  9. I would give up on batting average as an indicator of performance, especially in the short term (year or two), and especially with developing talent.
  10. Englert's stuff and ceiling is much higher than what he is currently showing. The issue is why? Injury, mechanics? They need to figure it out because he is a promising prospect.
  11. He's shown much better stuff than this, somethings up.
  12. I suspect he's dealing with some arm issue, his stuff is off.
  13. Wow, you'd think they'd give him at least a couple of games in the fcl to get acclimated and get his timing, coming from high school and metal bats and all.
  14. He's not even close and he's injured.
  15. Baddoo is still pretty raw, we don't know his ceiling yet. He really could have benefited from 600 everyday at bats in AAA.
  16. You get to know a guy a little bit, you naturally pull for him. Why is this noteworthy?
  17. Magic 8 ball says "Reply hazy. Try again."
  18. He made great strides in that regard last year in AA, so let's see if he can make the adjustments to how they are now pitching him.
  19. If they valued Cerkownyk that highly (5th round money) I doubt they would have waited until the 15th round to draft him, and I can't see they committing that amount until the pool draftees are resolved, and lastly, he just isnt that type of prospect.
  20. I don't believe it.
  21. This is how I always hoped the Tigers would draft, focus on upside and correctable issues, and trend younger, where you are on the development curve matters. Now if they can avoid my other pet peeve; don't draft players you can't sign.
