  1. Vierling's walk rate is 6%, nothing to brag about, and to be clearly better than Reyes, he's going to have to make some adjustments in his swing, plate discipline and reads and routes. We'll see.
  2. What you propose is contradictory to the entire function and purpose of a draft. If you want to discourage "tanking" and reward "trying", there are a plethora of ways to do it without tainting the draft.
  3. So in summary, the lottery was an illogical response to a false premise.
  4. Which is a non sequitur.
  5. And give it to someone else who probably acted in a similar way. What's the point if it doesn't change the intended behavior? TLDR, but I had and old business school prof who had a rule that an organization should never punish the many for the transgressions of a few, and if you have to deal with an issue, don't do it obliquely, but directly and specifically and any changes should be based on solid data and analysis, not "perception". Lotteries fly in the face of that.
  6. Having a lottery fixed that.
  7. No matter what you think they are doing, lotteries have no impact on their behavior.
  8. The exact same thing that is going on with lotteries.
  9. The perception was fallacious.
  10. Draft lotteries serve no purpose, and absolutely do not have any effect on their intended function. They were created for the worst of reasons; to address a perception.
  11. **** NO! Get rid of all lotteries.
  12. They need someone better than that, someone who can push Goff, and replace him if need be. It also can be a valuable asset.
  13. A solid back up, because quarterbacks go down all the time, and if Goff goes down right now, they are dead in the water.
  14. Moreso, the NFL is a game of matchups, and i believe Holmes looks for players that give a matchup advantage.
  15. When you are consistently wrong about something, and you are wrong about Goff's arm strength, it's okay to just admit you are wrong, rather than persisting in doubling down on your wrongness. That will never make you right or respected.
  16. Any big league defensive stats for Maton are too light to have any meaning. He was consistently graded above average at short in the minors.
  17. No, it won't happen, but would probably improve the defense
  18. Best defensive alignment is probably Tork-1B, Baez-2B, Maton-SS, Schoop-3B, Vierling in right.
  19. Physically, sure, developing as a major leaguer, not at all.
  20. Both are excellent defensive players, and I wouldn't solidify anyone's ceiling based on the initial major league stats. Now re-sign Chafin.
  21. He's only had two years of pro ball, and only half season above A ball, with a fairly high k rate, and he has done nothing (yet) to show he can stick at third. He would have to make monumental leaps this offseason to be ready for the bigs. Possible, but unlikely.
  22. Doubtful he can be ready, iffy if he can handle third base.
  23. I don’t expect Harris to stand pat. All we really know is he hasn’t done much, yet.
  24. RIP, BG
