  1. With baseball, it's not so much what you've done, but what your potential is. With that caliber of stuff, there is always the thought that some refinement will get him over the hump. Stuff has value.
  2. You know this on December 17? Maybe wait and see what he puts on the field in April.
  3. 3 things: 1, I don't know if y'all have noticed, but Avila is gone, so you can quit bashing him and move on. 2, Ilitch hasn't restricted spending, rest assured, the Tigers will have a budget at, or above, what is prudent for their market.I 3, you all act like bidding on premium free agents is the only way to become competitive. Those types of free agents are the siding and roofing of roster construction, there are many other avenues to building a consistent, successful franchise.
  4. He was also suffering from a shoulder ailment, but that also may have been a result of the shift to starting.
  5. He wants to start, likely one of the reasons he signed with Detroit.
  6. There's a lot of time before spring training, let's see what he does first.
  7. Oh, last year happened, it was a tragedy of errors and happenstance. All I've been saying is at least give the new guy a chance to get his feet wet. Additionally, some think buying players is the endall, but filling the pipeline and player development is absolutely the essence of a successful franchise.
  8. You don't need to, there's just no reason to assume the worst at this early point.
  9. Add this to the list of dumb things you have said.
  10. This isnt observance, it's ignorance. Avila had a plan, it was unsuccessful, but there is no evidence he wasn't given ample resources to fulfill his plan. The Tiger's payroll, right now, is right in the middle of the pack, again, not a sign of penury for a club in the smaller half of market size, and you can expect it to go up. The new regime has been in place for literally weeks, and already you assume your baseless assumptions apply. you make baseless, factless, malformed statements, and then whine when anyone calls you on them, and can't seem to understand why no one would want to engage with you.
  11. This is your normal gobbledygook that means nothing. Like most trolls, you post false, baseless nonsense in a plea for attention, and then, instead of admitting you are wrong, like a real person, you just troll on.
  12. You made an ignorant statement. Own it.
  13. Clever, but wouldn't make much difference. The only major impact they could have would be if their market and revenues somehow grew to be in upper half of the larger markets.
  14. He doesn't know what he's talking about, revenue sharing is based on market size.
  15. You are showing your ignorance, again.
  16. That wasn't for you, D
  17. For heavens sake, wait and see what Harris does, before getting all angsty.
  18. Unfortunately, his job with the tigers wasn't to coach football.
  19. How are you trading Madden for five Englerts? Makes no sense, and no, Madden isnt "five times" better than Englert. I'd rather have Madden, but they're not that far apart. I'd much rather have both.
  20. 15% better peripherals? Englert had a higher strikeout rate, lower bb and hit rate, lower whip, better swinging strike rate... Madden is a good prospect, but Englert is in the neighborhood. You want all those you can get. You need to access talent from every source possible.
  21. He's probably going to be the last man in the pen, so he's taking Wily Peralta's job. He's blocking nobody. When anyone earns it, or is ready, they'll get an opportunity.
  22. Also, when have you ever seen the Tigers, or any other mlb team, have too many of their starters pan out? You should only hope that happens!
