  1. There is no question he signed off on the deal, that doesn't mean it was his idea, however.
  2. TBF, he's only had those responsibilities for a short time. Hard to load much blame on him.
  3. If Epstein was at all interested in being a GM again, he'd already be one. There's a reason he moved on.
  4. Not that asshole, nope.
  5. Menzin is very highly regarded, Theo is unlikely to be available.
  6. Also a function of the reduction in farm teams. Two years ago the Tigers had three short season clubs, now they have one, so when you add the drafted players, there's no room, people gotta go, up or out.
  7. You still have hope for this year? They can always resign him.
  8. Anyone who's writing off either one of them is way premature.
  9. Well, he did need to be traded, cuz something is better than nothing.
  10. It doesn't really matter if the GM has any ability to judge talent, it's all scout driven. You don't even need to be a good negotiator, the staff will value each player. A GM's primary job is to make sure the organization has all the resources to be successful, including hiring qualified people for each role. Has he done that? I dont know, he's definitely added resources, and he's added staff who are well regarded, but so far, the results just aren't there, that's all you really know.
  11. I dont think Henning has an "anti FA attitude". I think he noted the failure of the Dombrowski regime to invest in and provide a viable farm system. I think that criticism is valid, in spite of DD's success.
  12. A descending DH
  13. the strategy was fine, the results so far...
  14. They system needs talent, upgrade any way you can. Ignoring the future to try to be mediocre now is not an optimistic strategy, either.
  15. Marte and Arroyo would be great adds to the Tigers system. There's no big urgency to add someone who can help right away.
  16. This would be dumb on their part. Get the best prospects you can. You want a consistent pipeline on into the future. The idea of bunching prospects on the same timeline is an illusion.
  17. Boo, he probably had the best stuff of all the drafted pitchers, and was young enough to still have some development left. With only 20 rounds, you really shouldn't draft anyone who hasn't agreed to sign unless it's a high reward gamble.
  18. Fans, in general, spend too much time staring at stats, and then overreacting.
  19. Nah, he had one season in the minors and they advanced him 3 levels and then pushed him into the big leagues. Hitting in the bigs is tough, lets see if he's tough enough to handle the failure and make adjustments.
  20. That track is no longer accessible.
  21. Re: Skubal, it makes no sense to create a hole to fill a hole. Young top starting pitching is a huge need for this club, as much or more so than an additional hitter.
  22. That would have little impact, clubs evaluate mostly based on stuff, analytics, not stats, situations.
  23. Pleis mentioned something about the Divine Self.
  24. They took 3 senior signs. I don't believe they'll need to go overslot on any of their other picks, so they should have some surplus to have fun with.
  25. That's so bourgeois
