  1. People focus too much on stats with developing players. Here’s a guy with some natural bat to ball skills, but some flaws in his swing that were inhibiting his progress. In a year and a half, the yankees reworked his mechanics and then LA took a different approach. You can’t just incorporate these types of changes overnight, it takes time to build muscle memory. You always have to take a step back before you can go forward. If he corrects his flaws and stays with it consistently, you may have something.
  2. Let me note that he’s just 21, was a 3rd baseman as an amateur, so he’s relatively new to catching. His arm is above average and he’s fairly athletic for a catcher. Give him time.
  3. That would be expected of something named JustBaseball.
  4. Need to see how severe the tear is. If it’s a partial, it could only be a few weeks, if severe, six months.
  5. It’s true prospects often don’t work out, but what people fail to mention is proven, veteran ball players that you acquire often don’t work out either. Baseball is a cruel mistress. Which underlines the fact that sustained success likely comes from a deep pipeline that can overcome the inevitable failures.
  6. Or maybe you both are just throwing out wild ass, baseless assumptions.
  7. You can say a lot of things about Tork, but lazy and lackadaisical are definitely not among them.
  8. Sure, but he’s not “Tork insurance”. As a catching prospect he’s rated very highly, if he were first base only, he’d be ranked very low.
  9. They traded four guys, including one who was maybe the best player available, and got three decent prospects. I think they can do better. I love their drafts, the development system, etc, but this aspect seems to need a little work.
  10. He has the power, not the hit tool.
  11. Liranzo doesn’t have value as a first baseman, except that he can play there if you need him, he doesn’t have that kind of bat. His value is if he can walk, hit a few bombs, and stick behind the dish. He’s the main get, Sweeney’s probably a utility guy.
  12. I’m not a Harris slappy, I wish he could have capitalized on Erod as much as anyone. I’m just not not going to make up fake reasons to blame him, and then repeat them ad nauseam.
  13. It would just be nice if you would stop repeating the same false, baseless points.
  14. You keep saying this and it’s bull. No one in the front office blamed anyone or put any “spin” on the deal. Second, no one is going to give up leverage and amend a contract, so just stop throwing these things out there.
  15. It’s probably not totally fair to blame erod either, players are consulted of course, but generally stay out of negotiations. You depend on the agent to represent the player and act with integrity, and apparently this didn’t happen.
  16. What you are saying is if Harris was a total idiot and didn’t do the bare basics of his job that a third grader would understand , then, yes, he deserves our scorn.
  17. Yes, it was a fail. Yes, it’s wrong to blame Harris.
  18. The hopes rest with Greenberg, this year.
  19. His first name is Francis, bad enough
  20. Arias, Pereira, Selvidge…
  21. Not sure Detroit would be all that interested in Kjerstad or Norby, kind of redundant to Greene/ Carpenter and Jung/ Keith.
  22. Jansen is not “way better” than Kelly, offensively or defensively, so just stop with that. Kelly was inhibited in the past by his injuries, but he is at least as good, right now, as Jansen. And while I would never say any kid can’t make it, they all have a shot if they keep developing, this was a poor return and I would prefer they acquire players with more developmental upside.
  23. Toronto managed it just fine.
  24. Not sure what your point is, they added very little value to the farm system, and you don’t, ideally, flip assets simply to create space. I surely didn’t expect any kind of haul for Kelly, but I did expect a little more upside, not basically organizational filler.
