I like the trade...they traded the 34 pick...essentially... to move up 20 spots in round 1 and to move from 66 to 46. I would have maybe liked to take Hamilton or Davis from Georgia...but that big play WR was a need too. Get a S or LB at 46 and I will be a really happy camper

How will they fit 10,000 Maniacs into the Ark...it's such a tiny venue

The workouts were what lead to the Pistons to draft Darko....

Pacheco is heating up at Lakeland....there's a lot of power potential on that team. Perhaps more than any team in the system in recent memory

They may have something with DeJesus...he really went after the hitters. But you can do that when you're up big.

Ras has looked stronger on his skates the last month or so...picked up the pace of his play too. A good off-season of work and he could be a real plus next year

Tork bomb!!!

Jack Morris begrudgingly accepts that he's now HOF worthy..
-
I think it was Bultman at the Athletic who said Soderblom has better hands than his current wing comp Rasmussen...but he doesn't skate as well. As of now..we draft in the eight slot. If we can lose out while Ottawa can swing five points in their remaining five games (they have 11 over their last 10) we would move up to seven.

If we get a second 1st round pick as part of a Gran trade...I wouldn't mind taking a flier on Duren. Limited offensive potential away form the basket...but seems to have the size and radius to be an excellent rim protector/clean up guy. Assuming we land Shaedon Sharpe with that 1st pick
-
I think/hope they will go Edge, LB, Safety with the first three picks and then target a WR. The board will dictate if it's LB at 32 and Safety at 34 or the other way around. That is my hope

Rasmussen has come on a bit...but I think he's better on the wing. Suter and Veleno are bottom six C's at best. I don't think either of them is capable of generating enough offense to be a #1/2 C. Maybe be luck out and land at one or two in the draft for a Shane Wright or a Logan Cooley. Maybe we stay where we are and draft the smallish Frank Nazar who appears to have the offensive upside of a top #1/2 C. Maybe...in a couple of years, Lucas Raymond takes his superior vision and playmaking and slides over to C

Ironically enough...Morris was shut down in his rookie year because of shoulder issues. Jack needs to learn when to shut up

4/6 - 7:30PM (TONIGHT) - Red Wings at Winnipeg
Shinzaki replied to 1984Echoes's topic in Detroit Red Wings
Ras looked good with Larkin and Raymond. He's a handful down low...wins a lot of puck battles -
With goals in 3 of the last 4 games, Rasmussen is on a bit of a roll. Would be huge if he could supply a little scoring and muscle as a middle six wing

Re the stadium in Minnesota...I recall hearing some discussion that the moisture drying out of the concrete was a factor in lowering the temperature on the field. Which in turn lead to fewer HR's Sounds like barfly science...but...sometimes barflies are right

Man....our defense is the worst. Seider is a legit #1 the rest of them are 3rd pairing or worse. Guys like Edvinsson, Wallinder, Johansson, Buimen and Sebrango have jobs waiting for them.... Shame Tuomisto and McIsaac haven't shown more. At least McIsaac has an injury excuse. If we miss on a chance at one of the top F prospects in the draft, I'd be sorely tempted to go D with our first pick. Avoid Connor Geekie like the plague...his scouting report is a carbon copy of Rasmussen's.

I'm encouraged by the increase in spending on tech and the emphasis on finding instructors who can use the data to develop players. I'm most encouraged by the institution of a detailed development plan for everyone in the system.
-
Getting nothing or next to nothing out of Cholowski, Rasmussen, Zadina and Veleno is as big a reason why we aren't a playoff team as anything else. That's a fair number of picks to miss on....
-
A guy like Sharpe gives you a lot of flexibility...he can play guard alongside Cade or if you want to go smaller, he can move up to the wing with Bey playing the PF and Hayes playing alongside Cade.
-
Be interesting to see what the effort level looks like against NY...been more than a couple of games of late where the team looked totally unwilling to put forth the effort
-
None of it's against college athletes...but Shaedon Sharpe's vids are awfully impressive. Has a nice stroke and a ton of athleticism. If we can snag another pick fom Portland for Grant...he'd be a nice addition. Assuming he enters the draft

The debate over Hamilton reminds me a bit of the debate over Kyle Pitts. It's hard to argue positional value when the guy you're evaluating isn't locked into a traditional position

The Leafs remind me of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the late 80's...lots of talent, never could get the mix right
