  1. Only excited because Wiseman is something new. I am sure I will lose interest after 2 or 3 games and go back to watching other teams.
  2. Different types of disappointment. Winslow showed promise after his fourth year in Miami. Scored about 12 PPG, rebounded, ran the point and did it pretty well. Shot 37% from three, played really good defense. Then the injuries came. I don't think he has played 50 games in a season since. Johnson never showed anything in the NBA. Never scored, rebounded, or created for others. I believe this is his first season he has shot over 30% from three. But its only on like 1 attempt per game, so its not like he is some sniper. Maybe someone will pick Johnson up for the playoffs so he gets in LeBrons head.
  3. You need to be top 10 out of 16 to make the play in game. If you cant become top 10 in 4 years you should be fired. At that point he will have 3 1st round draft picks (Hayes/Bey/Stewart) in their fourth year. At least two of those guys should be starting to lead a franchise in year 4. Hell, it should be happening this year to be honest, but it isn't. Not number one option super star type leading. But they should be out there contributing to enough wins so you are not one of the worst teams in the league, even with a Cade injury.
  4. I said this about Duren before the draft. If he can defend on the perimeter he will be a decent/good player. If he cant then he is worthless because that type of C can not play in the playoffs. Year after year we see the traditional big benched in the playoffs because offenses attack them on the perimeter. We see DPOY centers like Gobert struggle year after year because they cant defend on the perimeter in the playoffs. Drop coverage centers get roasted in the playoffs.
  5. You are both right. There was a lot of hate early on towards Drummond. But it definitely ratcheted up after he was paid. But even after he got paid people still loved him. As his extension was expiring, Orlando signed Nikola Vucevic to a new deal that averaged $25M per year. I said if Detroit gives Drummond anywhere near that they are insane. Multiple people here said he would get more. So a lot of folks still liked him even towards the end of his time here. FWIW, he ended up signing for the league minimum in LA.
  6. Would that be Drummond the first five years when you all loved him? Or after that when you all figured out what a turd he is?
  7. DIAMOND RSNS PLANNING BANKRUPTCY IN BLOW TO LUCRATIVE CABLE MODEL
  8. It doesn't paint Portland in a very good light. Pushing a player to play through an injury is flat out wrong. Then you hide it from the trade partner, why? Because they are in the luxury tax and Portland knows GSW will probably just bite the bullet and take GPII anyway. Shady. https://theathletic.com/4180625/2023/02/10/gary-payton-physical-trade/
  9. If you want more hope. Wiseman averaged 11 and 6 as a rookie in only 21 MPG while playing on a winning team. GSW made the playin game that season and were 39-33 (Covid season).
  10. Wiseman has (had?) a lot more potential than Duren.

  13. Nobody is ever saying the cake is fully baked when they say things like that. They are saying you are trying to bake a cake and do not have eggs or butter. You can still bake the cake, but it wont turn out very good because you lack some basic ingredients.
  14. Also from a GSW beat write in the Athletic: Can the Pistons salvage James Wiseman? A conversation about Detroit’s newest project
  15. Toss in Cade demanding a trade and that sounds about right.
  16. My prediction. Wiseman ends up being fairly decent and maybe even good on offense. But will be just as bad if not worse on defense.
  17. Coaching matters in the playoffs a lot more. So it doesn't matter to the Pistons I guess.
  18. Here is the hope. You hope he didn't develop because GS was in won now mode and couldn't dedicate the minutes to let him develope. Not sure I believe it. But that is the most positive spin I can put on it.
