All the data is there for anyone to view, compliant with GAAP and audited. That doesn't mean you won't get the occasional Enron here and there.

Retail is usually a loss-leader for Amazon. I bet they would love a competitor to step up and steal some business. They would also help you get started. Use their site, then their warehouses to store the items, trucks/planes/ships to move it, last-mile delivery. All for a small fee. AWS is currently their big profit maker.
