Long term rates remain low because the Fed doesn't have a sack. Inflation has been red hot for over a year now and we need a 75bps hike tomorrow just to hit 2.5%. That is insane. Look at this chart. With double digit inflation we need a 75bps hike to hit a level that will still be below historical rates by quite a bit. Of course long term rates are still low. The Fed refuses to do its job.

Is this WMT trying to soften the blow for a bad quarter? Or possibly a shot across the JPow bow to only do 50 bps?
