LeVert out again with just an Illness listed as the cause. His 7th missed game in a row. -
If New Orleans would do it, I would package Duren and Ron for Murphy. That won't shock anyone since I don't think much of those two. I would also trade Ausar plus this years first round pick for Murphy, and nobody is a bigger Ausar fanboy than I am. But he is extension eligible this summer and he is going to start to lose trade value. What does an extension look like for a guy who cant shoot? Portland gave Camara 4/$80 million this summer. He isn't as good on defense as Ausar, but he is light years better on offense. He shoots 35% from three on 7 attempts per game. You can't pay Thompson $25-$30 million a year being that limited on offense. I'm not looking to give Thompson away. But if I can pry loose a guy like Murphy with him, I would do it.

Not my first choice, but I feel he is the most realistic guy we can land. So yeah, I would like it if they traded for him. His defense is bad and is a concern. But at some point you have to bite the bullet and get some legit scoring on the team. If I'm taking a chance on a bad defensive guy, better he scores 25 PPG than someone like LeVert at 12-14 PPG. Inflated stats on a bad team do not worry me with him. When a guy puts up numbers on a bad team, first thing I look at is efficiency and MPJ has a 61.8% TS% which is pretty efficient. 47 guys have attempted more than 15 shots per game this year. MPJ's TS% would rank as the 11th highest of that group. He is very efficient and that should translate to the Pistons with no problem.

MPJ out tonight for personal reasons. Hopefully that means apartment shopping in Detroit.

Duren isn't even a top 20 player in the East, let alone top 12. -

All Star reserves announced tonight. He shouldn't get it, but Duren is a stone-cold lock since his coach is picking the reserves. -
That's the problem. There is going to be a bidding war for him.

Trying to squeeze every last drop out of that one title, isn't he?

Is that like when they tell a coach he wont be fired?

Most people do not want to give up Ron. Until the past few weeks, most didn't want to give up Ivey. Plus with his deal expiring it makes it more attractive to other teams. Also, most feel Harris will come back this summer for cheap in free agency.

I disagree with the first paragraph, but it's opinion so no point arguing it. That second paragraph though. Murphy makes next to nothing. LeVert and Ivey gets you Murphy. LeVert, Ivey, and Ron gets you JJJ and MPJ. I'm speaking strictly salary structure of the trade here. Obviously picks would have to be added in each trade. But the Harris contract is not needed at all in those 3 deals to make salaries work.

Pass on Jones, he can't shoot. The criteria for any trade has to be shooting, especially if its a perimeter player. I'm willing to take a chance on a guy who plays iffy defense, because you can sometimes fix that with scheme and teaching proper technique. Even guys who go from poor to respectable shooters usually take years. I wouldn't overpay for Dosunmu or guys like him. A lot of those type of players in the league and they are always available. No need to overpay. You overpay for a legit 2nd star because not a lot of them exist, and they are rarely available. So when they do pop up you have to be ready to jump with a big offer.

How can you be a year away from being a tax paying double apron team while simultaneously having the worst record in the league?
-
Apparently, he got cooked on defense multiple times in that 3 minutes.

Basketball-Reference lists Yuki Kawamura at 5'7" and Kasparas Jakučionis at 6'5". Bad night all around for Miami, losing at home to Chicago when the Bulls had 3 starters out.

Relevant because some of those teams might want to shed salary at the deadline.
