Imo it's ultimately about Chris I and how much shit he's willing to endure as owner of this historical disaster, the one that he himself, declared as "the rebuild is over!"...he is on the verge of being the most hated pro sports owner in Det history at thia point if he doesnt show a fucking pulse.
When the wheels inevitably fall off of this over acheiving pitching staff, this team could very well end up being, statistically, the worst in mlb history. Not sure how you can keep anybody around from GM, Hinch, to at least 3/4 of the players if that's case.
They aren't going to fire AJ, but I guarantee if AL remains the GM for much longer/after the season, we wont have to worry about AJ getting fired; he'll be outta here on his own volition the day after the season ends.
All that being true, AJ needs to be able to see the blindingly glaring obvious fact that Soto had a giant turd in his pants after the first walk, that's AJ's #1 job is to recognize that fact. The bats and AJ get the bulk of the blame....sure Soto sucked, but everyone one on earth could see that, except for the guy getting paid millions to see it.
Yep, 100% on Hinch. Sooo tired of the bs about managers leaving a closer in "because he's a closer!", when clearly even non professionla schlubs like most fans could see Soto needed to be put on a short leash after the walk, then yanked after he hit a guy. It's such a simple fucking decision to make given Soto has captain obvious, tell tale signs when he's gonna choke on his own gascan.
It would seem AJ would have figured out by now that if Soto walks a guy, THEN HITS a guy, HE SHOULD PROBABLY BE FUCKING PULLED. I've loved the AJ hiring, but he is wearing thin rrrreeealllll fast...
Allegedely Miggy refused to talk, and Haase was the, ahem, "voice of leadership", during the, ahem, "team meeting"...anyone elae want to kick Chris and Al in the nuts as badly as I do?
