  1. Home builder numbers came out yesterday. This from MarketWatch; Home builder sentiment continues to sour in November
  2. Adding again; we don't go down the rabbit hole of CUSIP numbers either. How stupid of me.
  3. To further that thought. I never paid any attention to the crypto stuff. I thought it was a scam. The only thing that seemed to have any intrinsic value (used loosely) was the block chain technology. I have no idea how that works. The block chain should prove transactions (as I understand it) just like our CUSIP numbers trading on the NYSE. Now it seems we have "issues" (imagine that) so it would make sense to look under the hood and see what happened and why? But that's not what we do.
  4. Let's go down that rabbit hole please. HA!!!!!!!
  5. You should read the Constitution instead of the PNAC imperialistic manifesto.
  6. I was forced to study Deming over the years. I think it is great stuff. Once you are programmed into that mindset, it makes so many more things we see today make sense. Like a window into the mechanism and process of how the world works. Since this is an investment thread, should we be buying TSLA, or shorting? I would start with chart porn.
  7. The entire war is insanity. We have now sent how many billions (70-90?) to one of the most corrupt countries in the world, while provoking a nuclear power, rejecting detente, feeding endless war bullshit (propaganda) to our people via the mouth organs of the press (hate to break this to you, but Russia is NOT losing this war, and won't)? WTF? Oh, and Ukraine has a GDP about the size of Nebraska. Double WTF? Maybe the people who want this war so damn bad should shut the fuck up and go fight themselves. And no, I won't apologize for not being a war monger, so save your agastitude. One more thing, if anyone doesn't think all these sanctions to get Russia, Russia, Russia isn't causing pain here and around the world (only to get worse) then you are not paying attention. You might want to remove your head from your ass.
  8. Deming has only one m, not two. If you hate Musk and Twitter, don't buy the stock. 🙂
  9. Thank you - a voice of reason.
  10. Highly recommend. I have 4, 2 in front, 2 in back. I can see most of the perimeter of my house (but all entrances). I bought them through Amazon. I won't recommend a particular brand as it depends on what you want to do. Mine are night vision capable, have sound, I can talk though them, and they trigger on motion. They run on battery, not hard wired like the expensive systems. One is mounted on the peak of my garage, which charges via a solar panel (sold separately), while the others I charge manually when needed. You can set the sensitivity for triggering. How long to record, and what to do with the video. It can be stored locally to a SD card in the camera, or to a cloud (I don't do clouds), and is connected to my secure WIFI network. You will get an alert on your phone when triggered. You can view the video on your phone, or there is computer software as well. You can hit any camera at any time to see a live feed via your phone rather you are home or not. You can also set it up to send you an e-mail with a screenshot of what triggered the camera. I turn this off since it would send a million e-mails. I don't have a sign in the yard or the window warning of a security camera/system. I mounted the two in the front right on my front porch for all to see. Smile, you're on candid camera. At night someone would see the LED's turn on when triggered. They pissed off some people that walk their dog past the house, one young guy in particular, who almost ran by the house after seeing them. What he doesn't know, and I didn't tell him, they are not set sensitive enough to pick up the dog walkers, only if someone approaches the front porch. The second camera in the front is pointed directly at the door and front steps. One night a cop was banging on my door at 2:30 am. He was looking for someone I never heard heard of, so it was all good. But I had video of him walking up the front walk, then the other camera picked him up at the steps, and recorded our entire conversation at the door. I wondered what he thought about being watched as he came to the house. I don't know if our cops have body cams, but it didn't matter, I had the whole thing anyway. I saved the video to a directory on my computer. I have the 4 cameras, a charger for the batteries. The old style used 4 small batteries, but the newer ones have a single battery that charges with a USB. Takes about 2 hours to charge, and I charge them on average once a month, depending on how much they are triggered. The solar panel was extra, but I only have one, which is mounted on the garage peak and looks down my driveway. The entire system ran me around $400. You are at the mercy of your wireless, since they are connected to that network. I couldn't hit the one on the garage if I didn't have the Mesh wireless system which allowed me to put a WIFI device in the garage.
  11. Haven't checked in for a while. That NASCAR race was something. Some were not thrilled. F1 and crypto might get worse. The steering wheel looks like it should be in the space shuttle. How they hell do they have time to drive? Impressive none the less.
  12. I don't know how many post in the political forum so I don't know how many 90% would be, but I think that's probably close. I would be curious of the numbers though. I remember (going back to the old board) when there were plenty of non-democrats, but they have disappeared. I wonder why?
  13. The math check out. Thanks.
  14. I wish I could find the Tweet, but is was along the lines of; this is one way to do it We were just talking about exacty this. It's all about the bottom line.
  15. You mention P/E ratio. I haven't looked at that in years. Go to Finviz and spin up a query for P/E by market cap, or whatever other criteria suits you. Those numbers are off the charts. P/Es have been way out of whack since they started flooding the market with money to make Wall Street rich. I don't doubt TSLA might be a good short (depending on timing of course (which is why we have charts)) because they are out to get him. The big auto companies want to eliminate competition, IMO, and he's one of them. I remember the days when things like P/E mattered much more than it does now. This ain't grampa's market. Which is why I stick with bonds (but a position in energy because...) and shake my head at what all this has become.
  16. This is off topic. I tried to find a general thread to put it in but couldn't find one. Simple question. I'm using this for my class as school. Question; what is the diameter of the cork in the center of a baseball? I have searched, but can't find that information, and I don't have one to cut apart. Thanks in advance.
  17. He's a love/hate guy for sure. My two oldest boys played basketball (Michigan fans) and wanted to play for him. Maybe they thought it would be easy after me. 🙂 If I needed to win one game, he would be my guy.
  18. Of all the things Bobby Knight has done, this is the cherry on top;
  19. Should we call our broker in the morning and short the piss out of this?
  20. LNG tankers idle off Europe’s coast as traders wait for gas price rise - FT
  21. Well that's nice, except for the 130,000 who got the "dead" version.
  22. The age discrimination lines were in bold black letters right on the front page where you couldn't miss them. In other paperwork it gave all the job classifications (all mid level salary people), the ages who were laid off, and the ages of those who stayed. It wasn't even close. I was shocked they did such a thing to give us that much evidence, but I was told by the lawyer is was required by law, which shocked me too. A few years later I ran into a guy who I worked with there. By then he was gone too, along with everyone else I asked about. All gone. The guy who was the liaison between our facility and the Mothership, the same guy who walked me out - was gone too. Any job that could be replaced with a foreign partner was sent there (China, India), and if they needed a body locally, it was a H1B holder and foreigner. Funny though, I could have gave one good fuck about their rule about who I could go to work for. Within 6 months I was working for a much smaller place designing machines and equipment for...the same damn company. Just a different division of that company. So they were kind of paying me after all.
  23. Here's how it works, from experience I talked about above (big companies). They whack 113 people across the company. You get a "separation agreement" of about 20 pages. Spells out your buyout, insurance coverage, for how long, then the alternatives. And whatever severance they decide to give you. Then the bold and small print. By law, they must include a breakdown of who were eliminated, who stayed, and their ages. It wasn't even close - all the old people were gone. Imagine that! Bold print tells us we can't sue the company for age discrimination, or waive this offer. It was so obvious they wanted to rid themselves of us old people. I was one of 6 in my discipline, and the youngest at 59. I read another where 4 got whacked and the youngest was 62. It was obvious. Then you were told you couldn't work for a "competitive" company due to non-disclosure agreements for a year. And you had 45 days to sign it. Or not. My better half worked in a law firm who had an attorney who did corporate law. He looked it over, wrote notes, told me what to try. He said this is nothing but cutting us old poops. Of course. I tried to bargain - they quickly told me to pound sand. LOL! I expected that, but why not. It was fun dicking with them. We are nothing but a number in a process mapped out to shovel money to the top. But you know that going in.
  24. Who said it stopped? CDC Covid Tracker The latest data point, November 2nd, there were 2,504 weekly deaths, which works out to about 358 per day, or 130, 000 per year. To some, I guess that's good enough to call it over.
  25. That's good to know, and thanks. I'm retired and teach school for beer money. I've been highly invested in this pandemic for obvious reasons. Some things about it drive me nuts.
