The rosters are pretty much set going onto spring training. There might be one spot open on the offense and maybe a RP here or there The plan was probably to get McGonigle on the roster at some point in the season. I don't know if they manipulate his service time or not, but that probably is involved in the decision. And if Meadows makes the team, it is only a matter of time before he is set down to AAA

I guess Hinch and the coaching staff don't know what they are doing either because they agreed. Or maybe your opinion of yourself and how amazing you are isn't even remotely close to reality.
-
The Tigers must think something of Peck. He was in A ball most of the year last season and now he's getting some attention in ST.
-
There were LH hitting outfielders out there but $16 million to take a stroll down memory lane for a washed up SP might have killed those chances to sign those guys
-
If McGonigle makes the team, I think Javy is the centerfielder and Meadows is a Mudhen. A guy has to hit at least a little bit to stay in the maiors.

I don't know who hurt you in the past or why you act the way you do, but the fact that you stalk me on here and throw toddler-esque insults at someone on a message board because they don't share your player assessment is pretty creepy. No one likes a creepy dude. The good news is I put you on ignore so you can find someone else who might disagree with you that you can throw personal attacks at. Good luck.

Clark has no business being in Detroit this season.
-
What would be the point? If Javy can play CF at an acceptable defensive rate, Meadows is worthless and adds nothing. Parker Meadows has trouble hitting Ally McBeal's weight let alone his own.

I remember when mlb suspended Arod for his first failed PED test for 211 games even though the rule was 50 games for the first violation. The only reason it was 211 games was to save the Yankees a bunch of money. So good for Stanton.
-
It's all good. I was told by another poster that he is basically a sure thing and will be fine when I suggested he would have trouble hitting .200.
-
It's just a spring training game to him.

I don't get the schedule At Padres At Dbacks Vs Cards At Twins Vs Marlins Vs Royals At Red Sox Vs Brewers At Reds At Braves 7 series against NL teams and 3 against AL teams through the end of April. Then they get the Mets a few series into May. Absolutely zero connection in any of those series against NL teams. What goofball in the mlb office thought that was a good idea? The interleague play stuff has gone way overboard. I'd prefer an extra series or 2 against the Central teams. This seems like a great way to get people not interested in the beginning of the season.

Konnor Griffin looks like a star already.

It's a message board. If you get all bent out of shape because someone says something you don't agree with, you might want to disconnect from the internet.

Max Clark sure did a hell of a job out in left field the other day.

Meadows is not going to hit much. He doesn't have the skills with the bat. I think his avg will be around .210 and maybe 15 home runs. Is that enough to keep him in the lineup? Probably depends on how the other guys do. I also think Keith's defense will cost the Tigers some games. His bat needs to improve a lot to justify keeping him in the lineup with his horrid defense. Riley should be fine. It's a new year. Verlander is toast. He'll miss half the season, have a few good starts and look like Charlie Morton most of the time. Could have used that $16 million for an outfield bat or 3rd base bat. Just paying for memories.
-
Why would he settle for that when he can go to a team that will pay him more and put a much better lineup behind him?
-
I think the Tigers infield defense leaves a lot to be desired. The one thing they have on defense is some of the better catchers in the game. Dingler won the GG and rightfully so and Rogers is way above average behind the plate. Outside of Skubal, Dingler was the team MVP last season. I'm not sure people realize how much Dingler contributed to the success last year. Strong up the middle. Baez needs to play SS and Meadows needs to stay healthy and hit just a bit. Torres has limited range but at least makes all the routine plays.
-
I agree with most of what you wrote. Avila was just the guy who drafted all those players, a lot of them very high in the draft. And Hinch has done a nice job with yhe roster, and while Harris has done a nice job drafting..although those guys are still just prospects. But as far as adding value to the major league team, he hasn't really done much...Torres has been average at best, Flaherty had a nice half a season, Nick Maton, Sweeney, etc...not so much. He got lucky Tork, Skubal, Greene, Carpenter, Dingler developed into what they did. But adding Morton, Cobb, Paddack, going into last season with Jung and Sweeney at SS and 3rd base was not a good idea. Not having veteran pitchers at AAA that could come up and give the Tigers innings was also bad. Signing washed up Verlander for $16 million seems preposterous when they could have used that money for a 3rd baseman, outfielder, or DH. I don't mind the Valdez signing but with Tork, Torres, McKinstry (if Baez plays CF), and Keith on the infielder...all those guys are below average defensively... can't be ideal for a ground ball pitcher.
-
What did Harris actually do to help the mlb roster the last few years? His FA signings have been meh to bad...his trades have been awful. So Harris takes the job, waves a magic wand, sprinkles pixie dust and suddenly transforms the players that were in the organization into competent players. The credit goes to the players first and foremost. Anyone who thinks Skubal suddenly became a Cy Young caliber pitcher because of Harris really needs to lay off the drugs.
-
Verlander finishes with a 5.34 era, spends most of the season on th IL and basically is Charlie Morton of 2026 Dingler turns in an awesome season with 25 dinglers. Parker Meadows is sent to AAA after 30 games. Tork hits 40 homers but becomes a one trick pony with a .210 avg. Framber valdez gets suspended for the season for performance enhancing drugs. Fernando Rodney comes out of retirement to sign with the Tigers in June.

The union leaders are also under investigating because they were using a company to financially enrich themselves. Unbelievable. Who would ever believe that union bigwigs would ever do anything unethical?

Not lazy. I have better things to do with my life. I post on here when I am bored. And if what goes on a Tigers message board is that important in your life, it has been a complete and utter failure.
-
...or you can go back and read about how it was an amazing signing yourself. I have better things to do than go back and find all the posts and quote them to satisfy you. Quite frankly, I don't care.

I think Valdez is going to have a rough season with the Tigers infield defense and lack of range, especially if Baez isn't at shortstop...not Zimmerman bad, but it'll show.
