  1. And Tatis...and Machado...and....
  2. Predict the Faedo line: 2.2 IP, 8 ER, 7 hits, 4 BB, 2 SO. Kind of almost what is the point of even playing today?
  3. Because AJ is smarter than everyone else. Fans see what we see, but AJ understands things so much more than any of us that trying to comprehend what goes on in his mind would be like an everyday guy trying to beat Usain Bolt in a sprint. The guy is a freaking genius and I don't think anyone ever could question his strategic acuity. We are playing Old Maid and he is playing Star Trek 3D Chess on a Spock level.
  4. Pete Rose played from 1963 to 1986 and Jamie Moyer played from 1986-2012. Moyer pitched against the Reds in 86 but Rose didn't play that game.
  5. If it is just two guys in the same game, in 1980 Minnie Minoso played in a game with HOFer Harold Baines. Minoso started in 1946 and Baines retired in 2001.
  6. Does your game have to be a hitter vs pitcher or just any two players that were in the same game?
  7. I wouldn't take Parsons because the career of a pass rusher isn't as long as that of an elite OLineman. If you are talking about what they have done so far, sure, but long term, no way.
  8. You have to trade them something of value. Really? A 3rd rate, middling starter, and a up and down relief pitcher.? That won't get anything of value in return.
  9. I don't follow college baseball, but never really got the Nick Madrigal love. He's 5-6, no power, really can only play 2b (even though he is playing 3rd but that seems like a total waste).
  10. No way is Juan Soto being traded. They gave up so many prospects to get him, they would never get back anything comparable to what they gave up. I could see Al Avila making a trade getting rid of someone like Soto for 4 third rate middling prospects, but not San Diego.
  11. It's too bad that Carepenter, the teams' best hitter, is not allowed to bat against guys that throw left handed. But, you know...smart manager...
  12. Casey Candaele's mom wasn't allowed to play in the little league mother-son game because she hit the ball too hard and they were afraid she would hurt one of the kids.
  13. I am in favor of 8 five team divisions where the regular season is expanded to 200 games, and the top 4 teams in each division make the playoffs and are seeded 1 through 4 and then play each other in a best of 9 series. It reminds me on how the NHL was when I was a kid: 21 teams and 16 playoff teams.
  14. I have been really down on Torkelson since his MLB debut but I think he is going to turn it on for the rest of the season. Has a hit in 11 out of last 12 games.
  15. I dropped Bryce Harper and picked up Spencer Torkelson on my Fantasy baseball team.
  16. Passing Manny Ramirez in runs. This guy is one of the most underrated players in the history of MLB. It is amazing that guys who did Roids like Oritz, Bagwell, IRodriguez, Piazza, etc. made the Hall of Fame and someone like Ramirez doesn't even get considered. Personally, I don't have any issues with guys who used steroids getting into the HOF, because 80% of the players in the league were probably juicing. I always had Cabrera ranked slightly behind Ramirez as a comparison when he was in his prime.
  17. I used to think managers didn't really have that big of a part in deciding the outcome of the game, but I now know a bad manager can lose a bunch of games by horrendous lineup construction.
  18. I think the GM will always be hamstrung by the penny pinching ways of Ilitch.
  19. Because it is inexcusable to have a guy hit from the same side of the batter's box as the pitcher throws. Why would you want someone who might be on the team for the next few years to get some at bats in that situation? Gotta have the platoon because Hinch is the smartest guy in the room.
  20. Aldred sounds like the name of a James Bond villain.
  21. I highly doubt a team with such a lack of talent has to fix games in order to lose. They are perfectly capable of losing without any shenanigans. In fact, the team has a lot more wins that I thought. I was thinking they would be down where Kansas City would be.
  22. "Rickey ain't playing in some independent league. Why would Rickey want to do that?" -Rickey Henderson.
  23. Mentioning Pud Galvin, made me think of the single season GOAT, Old Hoss Radbourn. His 1884 season. 60-12, era+ 205, 678.2 IP. You know when you gave the ball to Old Hoss, you were going to get his bulldog mentality. In a perfect world, the award for the top pitcher should be named the Old Hoss Radbourn award.
  24. Traditional triple crown categories for Ohtani 10th in wins, although 4 wins from first 2nd in SOs, 12 behind 8th in ERA, 0.52 behind 4th in AVG, .006 behind 1st in HR, 6 ahead 1st in RBI, 1 ahead If he stays healthy this will be the greatest season of all time for a baseball player.
  25. Castro and Clemens would be the two best offensive players on this pathetic squad.
