Personally, I think the conversation is either Holliday plus or Mayo and Basallo plus as your pieces and build around those. Skubal being signed for 2 1/2 years is a big reason for the ask and honestly we probably don't want to trade him so it would have to something along those starting lines.

The prep path tracks for Connor who ran San Diego's drafts prior to coming here and they were not shy about taking HS'ers. From his last SDP draft he drafted James Wood and Jackson Merrill so let's hope he can continue that streak with our drafts.

Honestly it's unfortunate that Hurter looked like he pulled something in his last start. I know his ERA looks rough but his FIP is a whole run lower than his ERA and has a .360 BABIP running this year while striking out like 12 per 9 innings. He's almost 26 now so if he isn't hurt I would love to see what he has even if it is to bring him up to take Wentz spot and be the LR for when Maeda or Montero start.

Anyway back on the actual topic of this thread which shockingly isn't whether or not Keith should be moved to 1st. One trade chip that seems to have been on the back burner and honestly I hadn't thought about much is Carson Kelly. He has a wRC+ of 108 on the year and has been worth 1.2 WAR (according to FG). Looking at the teams who may want to upgrade at catcher you have Texas, San Diego, Arizona, Seattle, Minnesota, and NYM in the bottom half of the league regarding WAR from the catcher position. Not going to get a premium prospect for him but you may be able to pick up a Hao-Yu Lee type. Also let's not forget this was a Harris signing and honestly a good one.

This was the first Montero start I have been able to actually sit down and watch it and I can definitely see where the org sees the potential. The fastball had great movement and the offspeed stuff looked great. He just needs to get a bit more command and he could really come into his own. I will be interested to see if having true access to Fetter and the other coaches helps him out too. I think at the very least I can see a high leverage reliever if he can get the walks under control.

I mean Jung did win a GG in the minors at 2nd so he probably would be a good 2nd baseman defensively.

I have been thinking about this, if after the top 10 or so it's a drop to the next closest group of talent, I would prefer us to go under slot at 11 with someone like Carson Benge, Theo Guillen or maybe Lomavita if they want to go the catcher route and try to float someone with a late 1st rd grade to 49 with our savings.

Honestly, they should just bring up Bigbie. He is a 1B masquerading as an OF and you wouldn't have to bring up Tork. He's hitting .284/.389/413 since 5/1 in AAA and is already 25 years old and Rule 5 eligible this year.
