  1. Agreed, I saw him in Midland last year a handful of times. Not sure he stays behind the plate but the power is there for sure.
  2. At least you got it out of the way so you can enjoy the rest of your day
  3. I was thinking similarly, they have 2 catching prospects in Rushing and Cartaya and nowhere to put them with Will Smith as their main C. Cartaya was seen as a great prospect but hasn't been able to hit in AA but he is still just 22. Rushing would be nice but I don't think we would get him for Flaherty.
  4. I'll never get used to the way Greene runs.
  5. Malloy doing his best J.D. Martinez impression with the 2 run double to blow things open 7-2 Tigers
  6. Since moving to reliever he has a 6.08 ERA in his 7 appearances. He started to start the year and was moved to the BP. Vest's last 7 appearances 3.18 ERA. Turnbull even with the starting bump is worth .2 WAR more than Vest.
  7. Kriedler smoked a ball earlier with a 105.9EV and it was caught but singles on a ball with a 69.5EV. That's baseball for you.
  8. To be fair Turnbull is a reliever for them now and has given up earned runs in 5 of his 8 appearances. We already have a righty that does that in Will Vest.

  10. Franyerber shows up on Baseball America https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/analyzing-10-standout-complex-league-prospects-so-far-in-2024/ Franyerber Montilla, SS, Tigers (175 wRC+) One of the early favorites of RoboScout, Montilla has been a standout for the Tigers’ FCL squad. In 22 games, Montilla is hitting .346/.481/.556 with just as many walks as strikeouts and underlying data very much backs his performance. Montilla shows strong plate skills with a 13.4% in-zone whiff rate and a low chase rate of 16.7%. On the face of it, those numbers showcase excellent bat-to-ball and pitch recognition skills. Like with Sanchez, Montilla’s 90th percentile EV (102.7 mph) is above-average for his age, and he shows the ability to consistently elevate the ball with a 58% fly+line drive rate. Montilla shows a well-rounded profile at the plate and is one of the more exciting players in complex play.

  13. Is this too early to be talking about this? Probably but I figured I would get this started after reading through The Athletic's piece around it. Pulling out the Tigers-related updates they are ; "The best starting pitchers expected to be traded at the deadline are Jesús Luzardo of the Marlins, Luis Severino of the Mets, Tyler Anderson of the Angels, Erick Fedde and Garrett Crochet of the White Sox, Jack Flaherty of the Tigers and Trevor Williams of the Nationals if he’s healthy and pitching well. (Williams is on the injured list with a flexor muscle strain after posting a 2.22 ERA over 11 starts.) However, asking prices are exorbitant for most of them and rightfully so because the market for difference-making starters is so thin." "The Tigers won’t trade Tarik Skubal but they’ll listen on Jack Flaherty, who is having a strong season with Detroit. Flaherty (3.22 ERA, 11.64 strikeouts per nine innings) could bring back a haul." Extrapolating all of that here are the teams looking for starting pitching. Padres, St. Louis, Guardians, Milwaukee, Arizona. Cubs are looking for offensive help at catcher and lots of teams are looking for relief help and corner bats. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5553919/2024/06/11/mlb-trade-deadline-rumors-50-days-out/ All of this should probably be taken with a grain of salt with Bowden as the writer.
  14. Yeah, I'll be honest I have had to block some people on here because the constant negativity of it does nothing but annoy me and make me not want to hop on to talk Tigers. You know it is bad when you know when consistently if they are doing well posts on GDT's are less than when they are doing poorly.

  16. Small things from Henning this weekend: Notable is that Lee no longer is a second baseman-only. Befitting the Tigers’ preferences, he now will play one game a week at third base. It’s a decision made jointly by Tigers front-office chief Scott Harris and assistant general manager Ryan Garko, who heads development. Still no word on when Jackson Jobe might be headed back to Erie for rotation work following his May 1 hamstring strain. He also has a write-up on FRANYERBER but not much to pull from it other than the fact he has been playing well which I mean we know.

  19. Not a bad pickup for 2.5 months of Lorenzan
