  1. I would agree and it does say that the decision had not been made yet on it just that they are thinking about it. Personally I would hope Wentz does not go.
  2. According to Henning; Keith, Workman, Meadows possibly Dingler/Crouch (depends on injury?) Pitchers is Matt Walker, Jack Anderson, Tyler Mattison, Possibly Joey Wentz.
  3. Toledo W 5-2 - Garcia with a solid 6IP 6K outing while giving up 2ER set the tone for the game, Lipcius continues to feast on AAA pitching with a 2/3 2B BB performance bringing his BA to .320 with a .919 OPS over 29 games. Erie W 9-2 - Erie went with the death by a thousand cuts route notching only one XBH a double by Workman his 29th. Meadows went 2/4 with 2RBI and a SB. Workman went 1/3 with a K and a BB to go along with the double. Newcomer Garcia went 0/2 with 2 BB and a K. As shown above Olson went 5IP 2 non-earned runs and 6K bringing his season ERA to 4.15 WM W 7-6 - WM tried to give this one away but were able to hang on for the win. Jung goes 0/4 with 2K's and Pacheco tries to match him but sneaks in a BB to go 0/3 with 2 K's. Crouch goes 3/4 with an RBI. Serretti goes 1/3 with a BB and 2B and had 2 runs and a SB. 2022 draftee Trevin Michael with an ugly 2/3 IP 4ER line. Lakeland L 7-3 - The only loss in the org last night. Graham goes 1/3 but is pulled in the 8th for Luke Gold (Not sure why). Nothing really of note here Santana and Dom "Don't Call me Don" Johnson hit sac flys.
  4. TOL L 10-6 Bergner with a non-great line of 3IP 5ER to bring his AAA ERA to 7.20 with Lipcius going 0/4 with 2K. Daz "Don't call me Mike" Cameron with a 2/4 with a HR night. Erie L 2-1 /10 Lost in extras no offense though I believe they remain in first. Looks like they went the opener route with Moreno pitching first then Hurter with a much better outing of 4 IP 7K and an unearned run. Meadows went 1/3 with a BB and a K. Workman with the designated 2K's but went 1/5 with a double and the lone RBI. WM L 3-0 Shut out only getting 3 hits. Not much to talk about here Crouch and Serretti each had a hit. Jung had a BB. He has played in 27 games and walked 24 times and struck out 26. Lakeland W 7-0 It wasn't a complete loss on the farm tonight. Graham hits his first professional HR while going 2/4 with 3 RBI's. Not to be outdone Santana went 2/4 with a HR and 2B. Melton went 3IP with 1K. Dom Johnson seems to be finding his groove after some poor results in rookie ball he was also 1/3 with a BB and two SB. This swing from Santana is a thing of beauty though.
  5. Jose King of JD Martinez trade fame and Andrew Magno moved to AA
  6. August Highlights AVG/OBP/SLG/wRC+ Meadows .290/.370/.600/154 Dingler .244/.347/.439/116 Campos .288/.389/.413/133 Santana .189/.429/.396/149 Sequera .237/.283/.440/103 Jung .231/.378/.321/107 Pacheco .200/.275/.400/84 (Injured during this month) Lipcius .311/.395/.500/139 Crouch .265/.318/.449/110 Reylin Perez .306/.457/.592/177 (17 year old in the DSL little to no video on him so hope they bring him stateside next year) Santana with what could only be described as an interesting statline.
  7. I'm curious what you have heard about some of these "breakouts" like Meadows and Perez? Anyone feel like it's for real? How about Jobe?
  8. Since @1984Echoes already took care of Erie I won't include them but here are some quick hits. Toledo L 17-0 I mean look at the score, I would assume this was a football game. Lipcius with another double though West Michigan W 5-2 - This one was bit better, Serretti still on fire in High-A went 3/5 with an RBI but was picked off and caught stealing. Jung went 2/5 with 2 doubles but 3K's. Crouch went 2/4 after being named the midwest leagues best defensive catcher among league managers. Pacheco went 1/4 with an RBI. Lakeland trying to get a DH in got rained/lightning out again after the end of the 2nd. They are currently up 5-0. Graham is 2/2 with a 2B so far. Troy Melton 4th round pick from this years draft had a solid line of 2 IP 1H 4K's in his first professional action.
  9. I had written up a recap of the games but refreshed and all of it was gone so I am just going to do a quick hit instead. TOL: E-Rod with a nice game; Lipcius with another HR and a double. Erie: Hurter living up to his name only goes 2 IP. Workman and Meadows with HR. Workman ended August with a .301/.347/.559 slash line. Meadows for the month of August has a .290/.370/600 slash line. WM: Serretti had 2 doubles and Jung went 0/3 with 2BB. Pacheco went 0/5 with 2 K's
  10. I didn't really start watching until '04 so he was slightly before my time.
  11. I'll be honest the Duane Below was the one that really threw me back in time.
  12. While I may not agree with the tactics this was a pretty bad "fact". Even his cover up reasoning was not great. That being said he did delete it and did not retweet a correction. You know what they say don't let facts get in the way of a good story.
  13. Counter to your counter: Development is not linear; two of the guys listed (Perez and Meadows) are 22 years old. They are 2 years younger than their average competition. That being said given the lack of development/talent from Avila I would agree any true MLers that come out of his remaining draft picks will be as you said gravy.
  14. Look, I can understand the pessimism I get it. Our prospects that we thought would bring a sense of life to the team have for the most part done the opposite. To be fair the two #1 picks were pretty much consensus #1 picks at the time so if he had picked someone else and we saw Mize and Tork tearing up the minors we would be bemoaning the picks like people are with Jobe and Mayer prior to being pushed to the big leagues. Jace Jung has had less than 100 professional AB's so lets pump the breaks on calling him Cristian Stewart. II think the marked improvements of prospects that essentially were assumed dead weight (Meadows, Lipcius, Perez) show that while Avila may have been running the show the changes made to the minors and player development look to be on the upswing. I can't wait for the next GM as well to hopefully bring even more modernization to the game and player development but just because Avila is involved I have a hard time writing off solid prospects that people outside of the org are also recognizing.
  15. Quick hits: Toledo W 3-0 - Wentz was talked about above but clearly had a good game. Tork went 0/3 with a walk and strike out. Lipcius with a HR; he is hitting .304 with a .821 OPS. Kriedler with a double on his way to a 1/4 performance. Erie L 6-5 - Gipson-Long threw for 6 innings 6K and allowed 5 runs but only 3 earned. Workman had a HR but 2 strikeouts. Dingler walked 3 times and and went 0/1 otherwise. Meadows went 1/5 with 2K's. Moreno loses the game on a wild pitch. WM W 5-1 - Guzman pitched 5 innings with 3 hits to go along with 4K's. Pacheco went 1/4 with 2 K's while Jung went 1/4 with two-bagger with 2 RBI's. Crouch landed in double digit home runs with his 10th of the year but also has 3K's. Lakeland L 9-4 - Jordan Marks lit up for 4ER without getting out of the 1st. That being said the teenagers had a good game; Santana went 2/4 with a double and home run and 3 RBI's to lead the way. Sequera went 2/4 with a HR and a K and Campos went 2/4. Graham still struggling to find his footing it seems goes 0/4 with a BB and 2K.
  16. Cruz moved to Erie, Serretti moved to West Michigan. Surprised it's him over Graham but Serretti has been killing the ball down in Lakeland.
  17. Honestly I agree with this, he has been generally healthy this year (has played in 103 games) and honestly hasn't set the world on fire. Yes he has a 129 wRC+ but he has a OPS of .790. This was his chance to reset his market at age 27 but looking at it anyone hoping they were going to get 2017 or 2019 Correa would have to be really optimistic. I wouldn't be surprised if he got a deal just a little better than Baez and Story did this past year.
  18. When you assume you will get a player that had 120 wrc for multiple seasons in return it makes sense. I understand what you are saying about his strike zone ability but it honestly hasn't been shown in the bigs even with his latest hot streak it's not like he is killing it with both the average or walking. If Meadows had his average season I doubt this would be as big of a talking point over this season. If Paredes turn into Suarez I'll be the first to call this a bad trade. Right now it doesn't look great and I accept that but I feel like lots of that is based on what has happened that was out of anyone's control. I would bet that Paredes ends up as a 1B/DH in the next couple years because he just doesn't have the body type to be a positive in the field which has limited value without a large OPS.
